**price dropped to £225** I've owned this from new (Nov 2015) along with an RS210 and RH750 head and it remains completely reliable with no issues. I've recently taken delivery of a Barefaced 212 as a move to a 'one cab" solution, so this has to go (I'm keeping the rs210 for smaller gigs). Includes TC padded cover. These cabs are susceptible to scratching - especially on the bottom due to not having feet. This one is no exception, though I've partly mitigated this by sitting it on an Auralex Gamma isolation pad. Located in Edinburgh.

Fender Custom Shop Phil Lynott P Bass - mental price
Edenburgh replied to Edenburgh's topic in Bass Guitars
Aye. Here's another thing bugging me about this : "Master Builder John Cruz has painstakingly recreated this bass in precise detail, as only a Custom Shop Master Builder can..."..."Not only is this limited-edition bass a true-to-the-era replica"....."a lacquer finish to let the body breathe with more tonal resonance" Ummmmm. Late 70s was the era of lashings and lashings of poly as far as I recall. -

Wowzer, over two and a half thousand people like the associated FB page. Maybe there's a decent market for this bass after all. -
Fender Custom Shop Phil Lynott P Bass - mental price
Edenburgh replied to Edenburgh's topic in Bass Guitars
Someone , somewhere is going to turn up to play a gig with this in its case and be like "yeah, it was Phil's bass, you know". For the record, I used to play in a Thin Lizzy tribute act. I went as far as playing a 70s precision but drew the line at a mirrored guard. (In fact a member if this here forum has recently taken ownership of said bass) -
I'll just leave this here. All I want to draw attention to is the price. Unless that's a typo with an extra 1 at the start. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/190716346178003--fender-custom-shop-phil-lynott-precision-bass-master-built-by-j

Met Paul last week for a bass trade. We had a good chat as we checked out our new basses. I'm thrilled with my new bass. Genuine good guy to deal with and hope we cross paths again in the future.

***Free*** Neck pocket shim
Edenburgh replied to Edenburgh's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale

Yes free. I will even pay for the stamp. I had this shim made for my Fender Precision when I fitted a badass bridge as the increase depth of base plate made it necessary. It was handmade to perfectly fit and I presume that means it will fit any 4 bolt standard fender bass neck pocket. About 1-1.5mm thick. Did i mention it is free? Ps, it shows as £1 because the computer said it needed a value greater than zero.

I guess it's ok to call this 'vintage' at 42 years old. I'm selling because this is playing second place to my '74 these days and really not getting out as much as it deserves - and I have my eye on something. Ash body with a lovely grain, rosewood fingerboard. Original pickguard still has the matching serial number sticker underneath. Bridge ashtray is original, the pickup ashtray is a replacement (Fender genuine part). When you look closely you can see some of the dinks that have been picked up over the years but the natural finish disguises it well. A previous owner had put a hole (presumably for thumb rest) which has been filled but still visible. The neck is quite narrow at the nut for a precision (1 & 11/16 inches) - not quite jazz narrow but certainly narrower that on a 50's or 60's P-Bass. The neck plays silky smooth and has lost the stickiness that you sometimes get with the gloss necks. Weighs 10 1/2 lbs. Just had it professionally set up and restrung (45-100's). Fitted flight case included. Any questions, just drop me a message. Thanks for looking.

Edit 11 May : **Temporarily withdrawn from sale** **EDIT 17 April : Price dropped to £1600. Also, I'm often up and down between Edinburgh and Manchester so a meet up in either city or somewhere along the M8/M74/M6 is also possible*** I guess it's ok to call this 'vintage' at 42 years old. I'm selling because this is playing second place to my '74 these days and really not getting out as much as it deserves - and I have my eye on something. Pickguard still has the matching serial number sticker underneath. It's got a Badass II fitted - the one with the three pre-cast string grooves. The original bridge, bridge screws and bridge cover are included with the sale. There is a non-original pickup cover also included. When you look closely you can see some of the dinks that have been picked up over the years but the natural finish disguises it well. A previous owner had put a hole (presumably for thumb rest) which has been filled but still visible. The back of the neck has been very lightly sanded which helps avoid the stickiness you get with '70s varnish and sweaty hands. The neck is quite narrow at the nut for a precision (1 & 11/16 inches) - not quite jazz narrow but certainly narrower that on a 50's or 60's P-Bass - is this what they call a 'B'-width neck?. As a result of it's thicker base plate, the Badass II bridge required a shim for the neck in order to keep the action low - professionally fitted by Robert Mould at GuitarGuitar Edinburgh - this is a totally reversible modification. Includes a flight case. According to the bathroom scales, it weighs 10.5lbs. Ideally looking for face to face sale - if you are in Edinburgh, please pop over, have a coffee and try it out.

No more Procrastination! (An interesting small valve head story)
Edenburgh replied to Bridgehouse's topic in Amps and Cabs
Kenny's are still doing the PF20-t at £299 so I pulled the trigger on it a couple of weeks ago (next day free delivery). Loving it so far. -
Been thinking about a compact low wattage/valvey set up for home practice for a while. Two things happened over the last fortnight that turned it into a reality : Local dealer dropped the new price on the Ampeg PF20-T and then these two Ashdown cabs came up for sale 2nd hand just along the road from someone who it turns out is a friend of a friend. The cabs are RM110's but they've had Ashdown CL/AAA red grilles added which I think makes them look pretty classy. In fact it's pretty enough that I'm allowed to keep it in the dining room and don't have to relegate it to the spare room! Sounds-wise is really lovely and warm - especially with my flatwound loaded P with the tone nearly all the way off. Perfect output and volume for home practice as I can get the tone without waking the neighbourhood. I'm a happy bunny.

any more puns like these and one of us will get Das Boot -
This cheeky wee beastie came into my life last year - 1979 Guild B301A-F. Not the most inspired name for a bass, but plays and sounds a dream.
-
Thanks all for your thoughts on this. I'm going with the glass half full view on it. I love it, plays like a dream and looks awesome. And I've got the cover note from Fender if I decide to sell in the future.

Hey all. I sent the photo onto Fender Consumer Relations who have responded swiftly and advised (in writing) that it has been a "mis-build" - a rare occurrence but the second time they've seen it on a 70's spec Jazz. GuitarGuitar Edinburgh have also been fab (as usual) and offered me a straight swap to a replacement - they currently have these in stock and have spot checked a couple to confirm correct spec. With this written confirmation from Fender, I'm comfortable keeping this f*ckup. In fact we're becoming quite inseparable. Here it is with all the bling removed (much as I love the look, it does get in the way)...
-
The guy I know at GG isn't in today and I emailed him directly - I have every confidence in GG in Edinburgh so there's no worries on that front. I've dropped Fender UK an email querying the spec. All I can think about now is Lollipop tuners. They really would set this off looking like a 68/69.

In fact I'm gonna float this one past the Fender UK Facebook page to see what they reckon...
