About every 12 months or so I find myself seduced by the idea of owning a multi fx pedal. I convince myself such an item will be the answer to all my fx needs and also provide me with hours of fun, fun, fun. It arrives, I spend a couple of hours pratting about with it, I put it back in its box and never take it out again, having reluctantly acknowledged to myself that my fx needs amount to a big, fat zero. Hence, I have this nice, spotless Zoom B1on for sale. It does a hell of a lot of really interesting things, the vast majority of which I've long since forgotten, so please forgive me if I just cut and paste this rather more comprehensive information: The B1on offers 100 bass effects, including a variety of distortion, compression, modulation, delay, reverb and amp models. The B1Xon offers 5 additional pedal-controlled effects. Up to 5 effects can be used simultaneously, chained together any way you like. In addition, there are 68 built-in rhythm accompaniment patterns, and you can connect headphones to the output jack (as well as portable music players to the auxiliary input jack) for silent practice sessions. An onboard chromatic tuner supports all standard bass tunings, and a Looper feature enables you to record up to 30 seconds of CD-quality audio. Loop length can be set either manually or to a preset number of quarter notes, and you can loop to any rhythm pattern, with automatic quantization that ensures seamless start and end times. Programming is simple and straightforward, thanks to a streamlined user interface and the large backlit LCD screen. Advanced editing features such as Swap, Auto-Save and Pre-Select make it easy to organize your patches for live performance and allow you to scroll through patches silently while keeping the current patch operational. In addition, the B1Xon's built-in expression pedal enables you to control input level, output level, or any selected effect parameter in real time. The B1on allows you to choose from 100 different onboard DSP effects. (The B1Xon offers 5 additional pedal-controlled effects.) These include compressors, noise gates, filters, equalizers and octave dividers, as well as boosters, overdrives, fuzzes, phasers and flangers, plus chorus, pitch shift, tremolo, vibrato, a sub-octave generator and an intelligent bass synthesizer that plays along in key—even a DeFret effect that changes the tone of a fretted bass into that of a fretless. There are simulations of both classic and modern pedals such as the Aphex Punch Factory, MXR DynaComp, dbx 160A, BBE Sonic Maximizer, Moog MF-101 and Z. Vex Seek-Wah, as well as the Xotic EP Booster and Bass BB Preamp, Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff, SansAmp Bass Driver DI, MXR Bass D.I.+, Avalon Design U5, plus the ADA Flanger, tc Electronic Corona Tri-Chorus and BOSS ODB-3, DS-1 and Metal Zone. Original effects include Zoom's Noise Reduction (ZNR) algorithm, a bass frequency-specific Auto-Wah and a "talking" modulator. You'll also find more than a dozen delays and natural-sounding reverbs here, including rooms, halls, plates and an emulation of the Line6 M9 Particle Verb. The dozen amp models include emulations of classic tube amplifiers like the Ampeg SVT, Ampeg B-15, Fender Bassman, Marshall Super Bass, Polytone Mini-Brute III and acoustic 360, as well as the contemporary sounds of the Hartke HA3500, SWR SM-900, Aguilar DB750, Gallien-Krueger 800RB, Eden WT-800 and Italian Markbass Little Mark III, each with its own distinct cabinet modeling that can be used to further alter the tonal quality. What's more, you can pair any amp model to any cabinet model for unusual, and often striking, effects. Here's the little fella in the flesh: Looking for £28, to include delivery within the UK. Payment by bank tranfer or Paypal gift preferred. Thanks all. BC

I have for sale my Korg Pitchblack pedal tuner, boxed and is as new condition. Apparently this is the 'Limited Edition Black Chrome' version, though God alone knows why anyone would issue a limited edition of a tuner - what will they think of next, hey? Anyway...we all know these, I'm sure - variety of display modes available, built like a tank and utterly reliable. This is boxed, had very little use and in as new condition. Asking £30 which will include delivery within the UK. Payment by bank transfer or paypal gift preferred. As part of a small pedal cull I have my sfx-modded Digitech Bad Monkey tube overdrive pedal for sale. It hasn't had much use and is in as new condition. sfx (our very own Silent Fly) make their own high quality pedals as well as offering modifications and custom orders too. The Bad Monkey is already a great and highly regarded overdrive pedal but the modification elevates to another level. I've pulled the text from the sfx website to explain what it consists of: "This mid extends the frequency response of the Bad Monkey to better cover the lower notes of the Bass Guitar. Not only does it allow the tone of the bass guitar to be faithfully processed but, thanks to the high quality components used, it increases the definition and creates a more organic and tighter sound. sfx: mid.control mod With this mod the Bad Monkey can be switched in 3 different modes: BM Mode (switch in the middle). The pedal works as the original Warm mode (switch on the left). The pedal has a slightly less pronounced midrange response. It is ideal to cut some of the frequencies that clash with the guitar. Deep Mode (switch on the right). The pedal has a more pronounced scooped tone that is great for very solid low tones." So there you have it - an already great sounding pedal now voiced specifically for bass. It always sounded terrific to me but I've little knowledge of effects otherwise so I can't say how it compares to others out there. This is boxed and in as new condition, having received nowhere near as much use use as it deserved. Looking for £35, which will include delivery to the UK. Thanks (Just adjusted asking price as unmodified ones appear to go for around £20, and new ones with the modification from sfx are £72 + delivery, but can't edit the Price or Trade Value at the top of the post - sorry.)

These come up pretty rarely, I know, but I'm selling my Boss CE-2 Chorus pedal. The Japanese ones appear to go for crazy money on ebay. This is Made in Taiwan though. For those who are interested I found this informative vid on youtube which covers the difference (or lack of it): https://www.youtube....h?v=3En5gl8Vh9g For people of a certain age (me!) this is pretty much the classic chorus sound, that underpinned much of the 80's chart music. This one is in very good condition for a 30 year old pedal, with a couple of slight chips on the corner. Other than that it's had only limited use over the years. I'm looking for £40, which will include delivery in the UK. Pics: No box but it will be well and safely packed. Thanks all. BC

Interesting, that gives me something to think about - thanks. Anyone else got a different perspective? Or the same for that matter? Mark

I apologise in advance as this may possibly turn into yet another 'best multi-fx pedal?' thread. Anyways...I use minimal effects ordinarily, just an old Boss CE-2 and an sfx-modded Bad Monkey, both of which are used for a bit of 'colour' on one or two numbers only in our poptastic covers set. Recently I've thought about adding an Octaver too, and really can't see needing/wanting anything else beyond that. I've no use for amp sims or anything. I have approached Tom at Cog and he's given me a price for a pedal that would combine his T-65 Octaver with a Chorus, and also one that would add distortion too. To be honest I would just love to pull the trigger on that option but given the minimal use it will get I'm trying to consider more cost effective options. I've used some multi fx pedals before - namely a Zoom B9.1ut, which I just gave up on as I found I had neither the appetite nor time to learn how to use it properly, and a Zoom B1on, which is great at home but really annoys me that it appears to have be 'doing something' to pass a signal - albeit only the tuner, which I find difficult to activate quickly due to the combined foot strokes needed on both pedals. I was thinking of a Zoom B3 as being the best of all worlds but, again, does it need to be 'doing something' to get a sound out of it? The appeal of separates is that they are easy for a numpty like me to understand - when they're off you just hear your bass, when they're on, bass + effect: easy! For that reason I like the idea of the Cog multi-fx solution but I'm reluctant at spend that kind of money on something that's not going to get that much use. I suppose I could simply stick with the Boss and Bad Monkey and add something like an EHX Micro Pog (I like the idea of octave up and down) but would the B3 offer the same functionality? Frankly there's too many choices for an fx cretin like me to get my head round. What do you guys and gals think? Cheers, BC

I am now an officially signed up 'liker' of your FB page. Being 5'4" tall and having hands somewhat smaller than is ideal for a bass player I look forward to the development of the production model bass with interest. Pip pip!

2x Markbass 102p vs. 1x Barefaced Super Compact
Bass Culture replied to worship_mud's topic in Amps and Cabs
I shall badger our marketing person - going forwards I'm expecting it to get updated every few days as new users register their details and we stick the virtual pin in the map!
Fair enough. I'm keen to see my name in lights is all! (I don't get out much...) -

Alex, How long does it take to my dot on the map? I signed up this morning but I can't see a big blob representing me and my BB2 yet. BC -
Best passive bass for less than £750 & less than £200
Bass Culture replied to ead's topic in Bass Guitars
I think these are a seriously good bargain for a little over your £200 limit right now - a Tanglewater Classic Jazz: http://www.kennysmusic.co.uk/overwater-by-tanglewood-classic-jazz-candy-apple-red You could do what I've done and swap out the stock circuit for one of Kiogon's looms at a later date and you've got a fantastic sounding and playing bass for not much money at all. The new loom especially elevates it to something considerably better than a simple back-up. -
I wonder why the Reidmar didn't get a mention in this thread? I'm currently still A/B-ing mine against a TC Staccato '51 I recently picked up but have used it very happily for a good few months at rehearsals and gigs and found it didn't want for anything tone-wise for me. Maybe a certain weight in the bass but nothing that couldn't be EQ'ed in pretty easily. I see more Reidmar's come up for sale now too, don't know why.
