As long as this seller is reputable and you've factored in the VAT charges I don't think there's much to worry about.

Oh my god! that '73 Oly White Fender Jazz Me oh my! blocked and bound maple, tug bar, ash trays. I thought I was out of love with Jazz basses. That one is stunning.

I really like the Precision style bass, the combination of the fender style body with the MM neck and bridge looks great and I'm looking forward to hearing the passive pickup in it.

I do learn covers note for note but it's been necessary to adjust them to fit the way different people play them sometimes and doing this on the fly can be pretty good fun. I know how scary auditioning can be if you let it, I have Asperger's and find the prospect of turning up and playing with strangers to be downright terrifying. I let that stop me for a long time but since I've started doing it, putting myself out there and really making an effort I've had plenty of offers and really feel like its done me a lot of good personally and as a player. Hope you nail it CyberBass!

I used UPS to pickup a bass from Spain and have it delivered over Christmas. They were %u£king hopeless! Collected it, denied collecting it, for several days could only tell us the sender had cancelled (he hadn't). They told him we had cancelled (we hadn't). Our tracking number started working several days later, seller was extremely unhappy as they denied having the bass for several days. UPS said the tracking number didn't exist, despite us using it on their website. The tracking said delivered on 24th of December at the latest, customer services said it doesn't say that, you must be reading wrong! You won't have it till the container it's in is opened on the 30th. It turned up on the 29th with the driver apologising for it not arriving by the 24th as stated. They were genuinely clueless and the worst courier I've paid to use.
I really like playing Long Road To Ruin from this album, really nice bass in it, nothing flashy, just works
Really fun and satisfying tune to play that one, I didn't really care for the song until I learned the bass part.

Colour me a wrong 'un but I'm with the OP on this. Standing, bass in place, ready to go to work, it's a really, really great feeling, there's something so right and comfortable about it

I'm currently awaiting delivery of one from Tim at Sratch-It. Found the price to be reasonable, his communication has been really great and even sent pics of the cut guard. Seems like he provides a great service, I'd certainly drop him an email.

Been listening to The Interrupters album a whole lot, some really great ska stuff on that record. The new one by The Temperance Movement is really good as well.
I find that raising the issue publicly on FB page and Twitter can be very good at either getting you what you want or getting a bit of compensation for your wasted time. I never would have condoned such behaviour a year or so ago but recent issues with UPS and Dell were both finally only resolved to my satisfaction after doing just that.
I've dealt with a number of issues for myself, friends and family members where being reasonable, polite and patient got me nowhere. Get on twitter and shame their incompetence in public and it's funny how all of a sudden they can be bothered to do something about it I can really understand your frustration OP, especially when they come back with "we're sorry you felt" rather than "were sorry we got this wrong" or "we're sorry we've messed you around". Those non apologies they trot out are so annoying.

I play bass because I love doing it but I think I gravitated toward it (subconsciously at least) because it allows me to make music without being in the spotlight. I am phobic about being in photos to an embarrassing degree (having wedding photos taken was beyond traumatic) and also hate playing live but they're a by product of doing the thing I love so I suppose I have to put up with that. Just providing a solid foundation for the bands I play with gives me a buzz I've not been able to find anywhere else.
Why not look at the amp too? Tubes, tubes, tubes....
I think that's probably the way to go or maybe a good dirty tube style OD?

I think this is how it works on Jools Holland's show. Shame the LL is letting this busker get in the way of having good entertainment.

Move it on and get another SS. Sometimes a bass just isn't right for you, It can sound good, look good and be well built but somehow they're just not for you. You could mod it but if you're anything like me that'll just postpone the inevitable moving on. How long have you had it? any chance the retailer will still take it back?

That would be a fantastic choice, it is just a ridiculously good bass for the money and it looks great in that colour!
Final words on this: Taking any problems you have with a manufacturer to forums or social media instead of solving it with that manufacturer says more about you as a person then it does about that manufacturer. Ugh.
What exactly does airing a grievance say to you about a person? it's not as if the OP didn't try and work with Warwick to find a solution. People on here are as likely to praise good service as they are to question poor service and they are right to do so. Ugh is about right!

It really is amazing that you can get a good bass (top colour choice btw!) for that kind of money, I've yet to hear anything bad about J&D and that one looks really nice, congrats!
-
I'd go for something like the Squier VM Precision, fits budget and the P/J pickup configuration should give you plenty of versatility, the Yamaha BB424 would be a good choice too if you can get one for that kind of money.

Judging by this pic it seems as if he's a bike 'improver' as well, checkout that sidecar! Only one I like is Sweet Caroline but I already knew I was an asshole
Good drummer= bass nicotine, very addictive.
It really is, I've got a couple of things on the go but playing with someone like that has really got me thinking about where my time is best spent because afterward nothing else seems nearly as much fun!

We give them a fair but of stick(!) but how good is it when you find the right drummer? The one that makes playing seem effortless, the one that always seems to know what you're thinking almost before you do. You feel like your a better musician when you're playing alongside them. Played with a good number of them over the years and every now and then I get to play with a guy who I've known on and off since I was a kid and wow, doesn't matter how long it's been we always fall into a really easy understanding. It's not something I've found in any other drummer and I've really tried to play with as many as possible. It's just so damn good when you find your perfect drummer!
