1. Thanks John. Sorry to be a bit dim, but should there be a physical switch somewhere on the preamp or does it require a change in the wiring?

I know some of the thunderbolt basses have a switch mounted with the controls on the front of the bass, but mine doesn't. Looking at the frequency distribution graphs my suspicion is that the bass is currently set up in the low boost mode because the low end is very good.

Thanks

2. I recently acquired a Pedulla thunderbolt 5 equipped with Bartolini soapbars and the TC4 preamp. From what I can gather the TC4 works like a tone control, but it seems to be suppressing the top end to the point where there almost isn't any.

It's been suggested I wire the bass to run passively but I'm not sure how to do this. Any tips would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

3. I recently acquired a pedulla thunderbolt 5 equipped with Bartolini soapbars and the TC4 'preamp'. From what I can gather the TC4 works like an active tone control, but while the bass frequencies are fine the top end seems stifled; there's very little sparkle even worth the tone at 100%.

I suspect this is the influence of the pickups or preamp because the bass sounds fine acoustically. Not having much experience with Bartolini, is this their natural tone or is it worth swapping the preamp out to see if that works?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

4. I bought this bass a few weeks ago and as much as I love so many things about it, I'm just too used to basses with a compact body. The tone is absolutely fantastic thanks to the Nordstrand pups and the ability to switch the coils and mid frequencies. The neck is wonderfully slim and the bass balances really well in sitting and standing. Trades would be considered for 5 or 6 strings with a relatively small body.

That's very close! The last note should be an A# and the whole run is an octave lower.
Most likely the bassist down-tuned in the studio for that 1 bar, like this:

Other possibility is a 7 string:

That's fantastic thanks!

I think you'l find it's a polite version of "Gaw'd blimey guvner"

"Blimey" is blasphamy

Every day's a school day! Thanks for the enlightenment. Given that I'm from Yorkshire my awareness of all things cockney is sadly lacking.

7. For someone far more gifted and able than I am please could you help me out with the run that starts at 3:00.

I can hum it in my head but I just can't work out the pattern on the fretboard.

Thanks in advance.
