Now £865 I've had this bass for quite a while now, but as much as I love everything else about the bass, the ergonomics just aren't suiting me; the 6'er body is just a bit too big for my short arms. I had to get urid of my beloved Fbass for the same reason. That too was an incredible bass The neck is fantastic and the tone is incredible, especially with the piezo ...... WOW! The TRB6p is a pretty well known and 'iconic' bass so I won't bother waxing lyrical. It is was it is. Condition - I'd say pretty good for a 20+ year old bass, but it has signs of use:

The usual little dinks on the end of the headstock and the back of the body + tarnishing of the hardware.
There is a 3-4mm nick in the lacquer along the top edge of the neck.
The left (as you look at it in the picture) truss rod has over the years slipped down by about 4-5mm, but is rock solid in that position. It still turns freely in both directions. The plastic guard to the truss rod access was absolutely battered so has been removed, but you don't really notice. The important thing is that you the truss rod still functions.
Truss Rod update: after a couple of queries re the Truss Rod I have spoken to two luthiers who both reassured me that it's nothing to worry about. When the Truss Rod is loosened right off there's absolutely no movement in the rod and no rattling in the neck. The neck is true and stable, so both luthiers seemed unconcerned about it and discouraged me from doing anything about it. Electrics - 100%. It's a pretty old bass so I imagine it'd just be plain old lacquer. Wasn't the poly stuff a more recent advance?
-
Hmmm! How easy would it be to strip all the lacquer off back to bare wood?
-
I've recently acquired one of the original TRB6p's which is tonally what I've been searching for the last 20 years, but there's just one problem, the ergonomics just don't seem to be suiting me. In particular, where I rest my right arm, I just can't get comfortable. I've even considered stripping the lacquer to the bare wood so that I could try a subtle reshaping job along the top edge of the body - such is my love of this bass! Can anyone offer me some suggestions for how I can accommodate / compensate so that I can keep this stonking bass? Failing this, are there any other basses out there that offer the TRB tone with different ergonomics?

Only because I've seen something else I really fancy, up for grabs is my Frudua GFJ 5 - really nice jazz bass with the following specs:

Sunburst finish with maple fingerboard (pearl blocks)
Maple neck
34" scale
Bolt on neck (6 bolts and very stable)
DiMarzio Ultrajazz pickups
Dual coil neck pickup (switchable to single coil)
Active / Passive switch
Condition - Excellent all-round Price - £550 with free P&P within the UK PM me if you have any questions Thanks for looking

Thanks, Peter. I can't see that there's much for you to feel bad about. I must admit that had I been made aware of the truss rod anomaly by the seller I might have been put off, but now that I've experienced it and sought the opinion of the luthiers I'm no longer concerned. The tone is amazing and despite its size, the neck is so easy to play.
