  1. Purchase price, shipping and duty would be approaching a grand. But it's art, innit? I just checked out his other auctions, I really wish I hadn't.
  2. How ironic. Someone should message him a link to this thread. Then again, Yanks don't get irony. There, I said it. Puts me in mind of this rant by Ed Byrne about Alanis Morrisette: Mind you. she's Canadian...
  3. Not to mention potentially legally hazardous. Imagine if you bought some clothing that had been 'partied' in, got swabbed going through airport security, and it came up with traces of drugs? Scary. Sorry if that's slightly off topic...
  4. The standard of finish reminds me of a teapot stand I made in Woodwork when I was about 12. My Mum still has it, but it's not worth nearly £600. It's priceless! 🙂
  5. Yeah, that's the very chap!! Went by the name of Brian L. Zeebub!
  6. Yes. A function band I gig with parted company with their guitarist recently. He was good at rustling up a gig, but as it transpired was also a pathological liar, and very good at fiddling the gig fee in his favour! Plus, it was only after he left that we suddenly realised what an unholy racket he had been making onstage. We're using two deps at the moment to cover gigs, both of whom are a massive breath of fresh air musically and personally...
  7. Thanks, and yup, that sounds about right. No love for Enfields, apparently...
  8. Get her down to the gig, give her a tambourine and start calling her 'Janine'.
  9. I had the fretless version of this exact model back in the very early 80's. A little weighty as you said, but it sounded fantastic, and was really well made. GLWTS.
  10. Still for sale...
  11. What a fantastic bass. I've always fancied one of these, but unfortunately it would be completely impractical for the gigs I do. GLWTS!!
  12. I just use channel A into one cab, channel B into the other. They're a minimum of 2 ohm each. There may be a slight drop in maximum output if the load is 4 ohms on each channel, but I rarely get past 9 o'clock on the master output, even on a big stage.
  13. Unfortunately not. I've got a few basses up for sale at the moment, all lovely instruments, but they just don't get much use, so sadly they need to go.
  14. I've also had to face the 2 ohm conundrum, as I have two EBS 210 4 ohm cabs that I love, but I wanted something small and light on top. I ended up with an EICH T-1000 ( https://www.eich-amps.com/t-1000 ) which is clean, uncoloured, flexible and hugely powerful if you need it, but small and very light. Rackmountable too. Not the cheapest, but I've been very impressed with it. Bass Direct have them. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Eich_t_1000_amplifier.html Definitely worth a look.
  15. Back up for sale after a re-vamp...
  16. Wonderful basses, and so well made. They put Fenders of that era to shame. GLWTS.
  17. Your mate has asked you because he knows you're a good player. Unless he specifically said he wants you to mimic their regular bass player's style in some way, he won't expect you to - he wants you to be you. It's quite a compliment to be asked to stand in, especially doing originals.
  18. The problem may be that an MM neck, a (possibly) 60's Fender body that's been extensively screwed around with and a set of interesting pickups do not necessarily a good bass make. But they might! Not sure I'm willing to surrender a few hundred notes to find out, though. I suspect it might be tricky to sell on...
  19. Umm... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Music-Man-Stingray-Customised-4-String-Bass/282950460117
  20. You're very welcome to drop by and try it out of course Gareth - you're only down the road, after all. No obligation to buy!! :-)
  21. For sale is my Status T-Bass 5-string in gloss black metallic finish. Woven graphite moulded neck, J-J pickup config with 2-band EQ, 18-volt circuit, 34" scale, 18mm string spacing at the bridge, weighing 4.5kg on my digital bathroom scales. The P-J 4-string version of this bass is now being used by Mark King of Level 42. I bought this new from Status earlier this year, but it's just not for me. It's still on their website (http://www.status-graphite.com/status/frames/index_home.html) under Online Shop/Stock Basses. The bass comes complete with a Status branded Hiscox Liteflite case, paperwork, allen keys, and the Hotwire strings it came fitted with. Currently strung with D'Addario EXL170's. Completely as new, never gigged. Sorry, but I'm not looking for any trades. NOW SOLD.
