Tony bought my Steinberger Spirit 5-string, and was a pleasure to deal with - great communication, immediate payment, a thoroughly nice guy. Deal with confidence. Thanks Tony!
I'm afraid Jeannie's is on hold - sadly Roger passed away and no decision has been made yet regarding the future of the company.
Really sorry to hear that - I bought a plate for my 55-02 from him just a few months ago. It was beautifully made. Sad news.
This beauty/beast now belongs to me. Very proud - and that's set to increase when I finally get to play her in a large venue on Sunday! I'm toying with the idea of adding a pickguard, but only if it's transparent. Anyone knows where to get one?
Jeannie's pick guards in the States, or more locally perhaps, The Gallery in Camden just made the plate for my black 55-94 in the post immediately before yours.

David bought my Letts Scroll bass, and was a pleasure to deal with. Great communication by IM, email and phone, and between us we managed to crack the problem of getting the bass shipped insured to just north of Dundee, despite some carriers claiming that constituted 'Highlands and Islands'! Hope you enjoy it, and lang may yer lum reek.
It's 17 Months.... 15 to go
Really? Good to know they're in demand, I suppose!
Didn't I see one of those for sale recently named (I kid you not) the "sh*t-o-caster"?
You did. I contacted the seller (who also builds them) to ask if he could do a 5-string bass version, which he said he could, and for considerably less than they're asking for this one, I might add. I didn't go through with it in the end. Constipation.
It's a bit optimistic. For 4k I would expect it to be perfect! Or am I being picky??
No, not really. You could take the view that for a little more you could get a new one built to your own specs, but you'd probably have to wait a year to get it. I'm surprised the seller hasn't at least got a new pickup screw from Paul to replace the missing one. His bass is obviously from Pete Stevens' era, so to some that would make it more desirable. Bottom line, that's the value he's placed on it, and if someone loves it enough, it will sell. Good luck to him, they're great basses.
how many amps?
I've never counted, but nothing like that figure! At the moment I have one amp, and one 410. Amps are never the problem, in my experience...

For sale is my Steinberger XT-25 5-string. Home use only, completely unmarked. An extra strap button has been added. Not a 'real' Steinberger, being of all wood construction, but a great headless 5 for the money nonetheless. Complete with gig bag, instructions, lead and sticker! NOW SOLD, pending the usual. For sale is my Epiphone Zenith bass, in excellent condition. It has a piezo pickup under the bridge, a magnetic pickup at the neck, volume, pan, two band eq for each pickup, with mono and stereo outputs, creating a huge variety of tones. It plays beautifully, and recently had a fret stone and a setup at The Gallery. Despite the appearance of the f-holes, it's a solid and substantial bass. NOW SOLD. Thanks for all the interest. For sale is my Yamaha SB55, built between 1973 and 1976, in extraordinary condition for its age. All original, apart from the back of the neck having been re-varnished at some point. No visible fret wear. The not so good bits, for the purposes of full disclosure: there is a dink in the tip of the headstock, a small crack in the finish in the rear of the lower horn, a couple of small marks on the edge below the controls, and a little pitting in the finish along the back edge near the end strap button. Still in great condition for a 40-year-old bass! [s]The thumb rest is missing, but could easily be replaced.[/s] I have now bought a replacement thumb rest. Plays beautifully, really slim at the nut, with a clear, resonant tone. These were quality instruments, easily rivalling any American made jazz basses of the same era, and this model is rare, having been made for such a short time. £575. Sorry, but I'm not looking for any trades. ...or how about a Lakland 55-02 or 55-94? I've also got a DJ5 and the neck seems to sit 'out' more than the other two, although they're all 35" scale. As far as being a bass tart, you've got a long way to go! I have a file on my computer where I list all the basses I've owned over the years. I've been playing a very long time, but it's currently up to 89....

My 2000 USA 55-94 just returned from The Gallery after the fret job and the addition of a cream pearl plate... it had its first outing on Friday and it was everything I hoped it would be. eBay's "Global Postage Programme"...
lowregisterhead replied to lowregisterhead's topic in General Discussion
As a little update to this... Ebay have said that they would refund me what I paid for customs etc (i.e. the "y" mentioned above), although I am still waiting for this to arrive after a week. At this moment, the seller refunded me x + y, Ebay will refund me y, I have the vase in a cupboard awaiting Ebay's refund (which will cover postage costs back to the US) and the seller has said she is willing to send me the jeans anyway. She will not be using the Global Postage Programme again.
Good news, well almost! Just out of interest, is it a nice vase? -
Just out of interest, why did you get the Stageclix? Not that there is anything wrong with it, just trying to understand why people choose what they choose. For example, for me, not having the ability to put new batteries in would be a big no for me. If it all turns into a nightmare, sack it off and get a Sony DWZB30GB,
I liked the fact you could charge the belt pack in the main unit, and it seemed very light, compact, and simple to use. And it was all of those things, but I didn't like the sound! I almost bought the Sony - if I can get the seller to refund me, I will
