For sale are a set of 5 Hipshot Ultralight HB6C tuners in shiny chrome, 4 bass side, 1 treble side with half inch (13mm) posts. Fitted briefly, then I was selling the bass they were on, so I took them off first! Hardly used, so very good condition, screws included. Bass Direct sell these for £30 each, I'm after [s]£100[/s] £90 posted in the UK. Final price reduction before eBay... surely someone must want them? Dave NOW SOLD

For sale is a white Yamaha BB1025X with fitted Yamaha gig bag, in its shipping carton, with allen keys, and even including the receipt. It was bought in January this year from Bass Direct by the original owner, and has been used very little. It's a huge amount of bass for the money - excellent finish, great tone and resonance, and the highest output pickups of any passive bass I've ever owned. It's got grunt, and lots of it. The reason I'm selling is it just doesn't get as much use as my other basses, so it has to go. The only flaw I can spot is a scratch on the headstock, caused by yours truly being careless during a string change. Other than a little barely visible swirling on the scratch plate, it's virtually as new. The original purchaser paid £878 in January, and I have to let a few things go, so I'm asking only [s]£525[/s] £495 plus shipping. It can also be collected, I live near junction 10 of the M25. The first two stacked controls are individual volumes for the two pickups, so they can be run individually or blended. The second two stacked controls are treble and bass cut/boost. The switch is preamp in/out. There's no passive tone control, but with the eq set flat, switching in the preamp makes no discernible difference to level or tone - it's really transparent. The more I describe this bass, the more I think I must be mad selling it! And yes Graham, the mods weren't cheap. I'm actually losing a bit overall selling at this price. I'll try and put up something on YouTube so you can hear what it sounds like. Dave

I acquired one of these very basses in Tobacco Sunburst a few months ago from another BC'er, and it's a fabulous instrument. My first 'decent' bass which I bought second hand in 1981 was a pre-Ernie Ball Stingray, which I foolishly sold some years later when in dire financial straits. The Classic is so reminiscent of it - the lacquered neck, through stringing, slab body, string dampers are all great, but more importantly, for me it has that elusive juiciness that most SR5's seem to lack, and I've owned a few. Playing my Classic is like snogging an old girlfriend... I can't recommend it highly enough - if it appeals to you on any level, BUY IT. You will not be disappointed!
