  1. Just bought the RBJ67.....went in earlier today it was hung on the wall....played it acoustically and it just ticked all the boxes, I personally like to play them unplugged and if they sing which this did....lovely block inlay/bound neck and cream body with a pale lime green pick guard very striking....just need a band now....oh and plenty of practice lol.
  2. Sad news....great musician
  3. This would have to be my choice Willie Weeks....stunning.
  4. Used to love the Bass and Drum production on the intro to Dallas 1pm by Saxon just thumps in with so much power.....sorry its not in context with the original post but even now that intro still hits the spot.
  5. Me and the wife visit York every year for our Anniversary lovely city seems to have a decent music scene but so expensive...haven't been to Leeds for a long while but I can imagine like most cities it would have a good music scene.....York is beautiful mind....whatever you do don't re-locate to Grimsby only 2 decent music venues lol....good luck.
  6. Had the privaledge of supporting the Nimmo Bros in 2011 at the Yardbirds Club in Grimsby.....smashing fella and band to boot.
  7. I was born in 1961 and my brother in 57.....he had a great collection of Classic and Prog Rock lps …..growing up I would listen to nothing but Heavy Rock.....I didn't pick a Bass up till I was about 40 very late starter.....but prior to that I was a Frontman/Vocalist for quite a few local bands.....the reason I wanted to play Bass was Soul, Motown and 60s RnB so Jamerson, Cogbill, Jemmott, Porter, Weeks and Dunn ect……..but love Geezer, Lynott, Glover......but Neil Murray probs my favourite his busy melodic yet driving Bass lines are great.
  8. Was listening to this last night.....Live at the BBC sessions and they opened with this and run it straight into Heartbreaker.....see them in 79 aswell.

  18. Thanks for the replies folks....its nearly 50 year old Bass....made in Japan, all original still.
  19. Thanks to be honest I only found out it was plywood because it is naturally very reliced now been nearly 50 year old and I was doing some work on it and noticed it....and it was my snobbery that made me feel a tad down....but its got something about it and a lot of sentimental value.
  20. Aye sounds and looks good
  21. Morning Folks, I have an old Japanese Columbus P Bass early 70s I have had it many years....its made of plywood but sounds and plays well enough...I was a tad disappointed when I found out it was plywood....but recently I have just had one of my Acoustics a Yamaha FG180 (Nickon Gakki) red label serial number dates it 1970 so another vintage model....I took it to John Le Voi a great luthier for a re-fret and minor cosmetic repairs and found out this was laminate too...but sounds great....just wondering what your thoughts are on plywood......John told me there is nothing wrong with plywood and if the laminates are slightly off from each other and the grains not running in same directions they will never split....he told me they sound just as good as solid tops.....think I was just surprised after owning these instruments so long to find out they are ply especially been made in Japan in the early 70s....but apparently this is quite common...cheers Bob.
  22. Legend...….some fantastic Bass players on her albums sad loss to the music world.
