1. There's tons of information on youtube ect....Scotts Bass Lessons is chock full of lessons and information plus he does a Bass Academy as well which you can join. Personally i would Google some very basic lessons on scales and arpeggios, some simple 12 bar blues bass lines which when you learn a basic 1-4-5 blues progression you can transfer it to any key good for jamming along to old Blues and Rock and Roll standards that's how i first started and was playing in a Rock and Roll Band after 6 months of picking a Bass up. Plus there's a ton of information on this very forum plus lots of help and advice....best of luck and enjoy
 2. Mainly the song
 3. Japanese Fender Precision wouldn't want anything else
 4. Grimsby....The County great venue and Old Lloyds on the pub circuit and Yardbirds Rock Club for top class tribute bands and professional bands
 5. Wish i was love Ida's playing
 6. Usually good at remembering the songs per set....but occasionally a mental block occurs when you think....f***...hows this one go but usually comes back pretty quick
 7.
I was asked to learn that few yrs ago and got the basic feel of the song down first and then worked on the fills that Neil puts in. There is a live VID on youtube somewhere with Neil playing a Kramer and you can pick out the fills very clearly. Sometimes the studio versions can have the fills yet when the guys play live they miss out the very techy bits but not Mr Murray. He does it all live and sometimes adds little extra bits. I have to say i am a big fan of his and he was a huge influence for me along with Jack Bruce. I used the tabs that someone provided earlier in the post. The biggest prob i found was that the fills change through the song so its not easy to remember what fill goes where altho most people would never really notice. Even bassists probably wouldn't pick up on that if they were in the audience that night but def a great song to get right and i just loved playing it. Wishing you all the very best with it and hope it all eventually just falls into place for you. Dave
Thanks Dave it is indeed a great song and Neil's playing is superb not just on this paticular track but his work on a whole very busy but very melodic aswell
 8. And by the way i would like to thank each and every one of you who have contributed and tried to help i really do appreciate it....there's some genuinely helpful folks on Basschat and it makes it a great forum cheers Bob
 9.
http://basschat.co.uk/topic/219645-fool-for-your-loving-whitesnake-help/page__fromsearch__1
Just looked at some of the posts from 2013 when someone else posted the same looking for advice on Fool for your loving it seemed to cause some mixed reactions. One quote won't mention the name but put the song down as a basic blues rock number lol.....said it's childsplay....wtf....personally speaking i think Neil Murray's Bassline is a stroke of pure genious an absolute gem
 10.
My home would be the road, something I've always wanted. I'm single and my kids are working adults, I could get up and leave tonight if the right opportunity presented itself. Blue
I had an opportunity many years ago early 80's to up sticks join an established Band who were gigging regularly a full time job at the time and didn't take it up remaining at my home town...gigging occasionally a move that I have regretted many times. At the time i had nothing to stop me...my advice for anyone given the opportunity take it or spend your entire life thinking what if.
 11.
Have a look on Songsterr ... they have an online tab player, and you can print the tab off. Either you pay and print it easily, or don't pay and just do a series of screenshots. Beware that there are two versions, though ... the original is in G and the re-recorded Steve Vai version is in A. Once you figure out the three or four basic patterns it's a straight enough tune and fun to play.
Thanks yeah getting there a few fiddly bits to fathom out but doubt if i could play it note for note but sounds reasonable
 12.
What a tune!. Deep Purple at their absolute best IMO. If we had a keyboard it would be the no1 track in our set player in our covers band. Get to work and enjoy
Ha,ha thanks for the reply
 13.
Highway Star was transcribed in the January 2012 issue of Bass Player magazine, I've got it here. I can scan it if it's of interest - I've already spotted a couple of differences to the transcription above. I've no idea which is more accurate mind you.
Thankyou that would be great cheers Bob
 14.
This is the most enjoyable track I have ever played live... the feeling of exhilaration once you nail it is worth the effort.
I bet, thanks
 15.
To avoid confusion guy in the vid plays 2 bits wrong: 1:18 (isolated bass track) the bit over "Im a highway star...." original line is a root-5th lick i.e. C-G-C D-A-D C-G-C D-A-D C-G-C D-A-D F-C-F G-D-G A ... 2:26 (isolate bass track) the unison run up is C D F G A C C-D whereas the guy in the vid play C C#-D at the end, only one note out but its quite an important one when your playing unison with kbd and guitar.
Thankyou
 16.
Oh...I thought the isolated track was the actual Glover line someone had peeled off a Rock Band game....?
Me too
 17. Not sure but Neil's Bassline is awsome really melodic and busy without losing it....great player
 18. Thanks so much again i will have a good look at both tomorrow just had a little bash at Fool for your loving i was pretty close with the intro sounded fairly good just playing it without the music just picking bits up by ear but realised it was a tad out when jamming along with the track but the tab has helped cheers again Bob

 23.
Because he might be interested in finding out who he is? Why be so antagonistic?
Well said
 24. Shame i don't drive looking for a good Combo but got to be near to Grimsby
 25.
I've just recently lowered Artisan's action without removing it the bridge. It can be done by slackening just 2 outer strings at a time, then the 2 centre strings if necessary keeping tension at all times. Just be careful with the chainsaw!
Lol....thanks
