  1. Thanks guyz appreciated.
  2. I've used a bit of sponge especially when new strings have been fitted, I hate the sound of new strings. Watched a guy on youtube called Mo Morris he plays with flatwound strings foam mutes and has had the same strings on for 15 years. But he blew me away with that old school RnB vibe.
  3. Thanks needs about 2mm, then the action will be perfect. I will have a scout around....was thinking of a thin piece of card. Cheers.
  4. Need to lower the action on my Bass, the saddles won't go no lower. Wondering if I remove the neck and 'Shim' it a tad and what would be the best material? It's only a project bass. Any info gladly excepted. Cheers Bob.
  5. Black Water Rising......absolute must.
  6. Hearing Dennis Dunnaway.....Alice Cooper band.....yet I didn't pick up the Bass till I was 39 I'm 53 now and still consider myself a begginer lol...but without doubt the Bass is the Coolest instrument. Love it.
  7. Been doing some reading ect and much the same it's personal preference ect, thanks. Intonation seems fine and just the slightest curve on the neck, but the more I play it the better I like it. Just interested what others think. Cheers Bob.
  8. My favourite is 'Little Ghetto Boy'.....Willie Weeks off Donny Hathaway Live.
  9. Yeah I'm happy with it. ...my last Bass the action was very low...but once I got used to this it's fine. Thanks for your reply.
  10. To many to mention, but the first Bassline that I really noticed wasn't playing at the time. Was Blue Turk......Alice Cooper School's Out LP. Moondance....Van Morrison.
  11. I'd consider the 'Action' on my Bass fairly high although I've become quite accustomed to it, in comparison to other Basses. It's 4.5mm at 12th Fret, about 4mm at 7th, 4.5mm at 15th and about 2mm at the nut/first Fret......would you be happy with this. ...nice deep tone, it's a Jap Precision by the way. Cheers Bob.
  12. Thanks guyz for all the replies. Having played a lot of slimmer necked Basses and adopted a lot of bad habits mainly laziness du to having big hands, this Bass is certainly bringing a better technique back and finding the wider neck quite comfortable, for an old Bass it certainly plays well.
  13. Hi Disceet will try but my computer skills are pretty naff. I know certain era's Fender used C and D profile necks it's just deeper profile than I'm used too, but not a problem beggining to feel quite comfortable with it, was always used to playing Jazz basses, but it's a nice Bass, thinking of getting it proffesionaly set up. Cheers Bob.
  14. Cheers Mike
  15. Hi Folks, Cut a long story short I've recently aquired a very old Fender P Bass fron a friend who passed away. The neck is very Chunky unlike other Fenders I've played, it was in a rather sad state..could anyone tell me what year the Chunkier profile necks came out? I believe it's a early to mid 70's Sunburst model, actions a tad high but sounds great....I've not gigged it, just a quick bit of noodling in the house, but definitely making me work harder with my recent lazy techniques. Cheers Bob.
  16. Some great comments....had a Natural Wood finish Columbus Precision years ago. ...apart from weighing a ton I really liked it and gigged it many times and regret getting rid of it. So much so I've just aquired another one, a Sunburst Precision it's in need of a tweek here and there but very loud, bought it off a bloke who never bothered with it, but came with a practice combo, quality lead and tuner £80....reckon about £30 to get it set up nice...so pretty pleased.
  17. Great post but I love the Jazz Bass anyway. .....but oddly not playing one at the mo'.
  18. If I could sell one of my Classical Guitars I would have this off you. Will be in touch if I get any joy. Good luck with the sale.

  20. Don't suppose you'd be interested in a swap for a Manual Rodriguez Cabalero 10 Classical Guitar fitted with a Shadow pick up on the bridge, absolute mint condition.
  21. Two Gorgeous Basses. ....good luck with the sale.
