Pretty sure you need a 3/8" one - mainly based on quite a few posts on the American site in the Sire club saying they bought the 1/2" ones by mistake :-)

Lockdown boredom finally got to me.....after far too many hours cruising around on this site I kept returning to the Bass Centre Betsy thread and decided i wanted one. I read all the reviews i could find and watched Guys Lockdown Licks avidly. I've owned quite a few basses but never a 'proper' Jazz (I had a Blacktop Jazz a few years ago but apart from the body shape and the neck there was nothing jazzy about it), it was my birthday, i sold my bike and the missus gave me the ok. The scene was set, credit card poised and off i trotted to the Bass Centre website. This is where it goes a bit wonky....none available until the end of July. Dangnabbit! And i'm not very patient either 😂 During my research I'd spotted a Sire V7 version 2 in a similar colour and it was a bit cheaper. Great reviews in general for them and tbh i've always seemed to end up with active basses so having the preamp kind of appealed to me. Andertons didn't have any left in the colour/fretboard that I wanted and they weren't sure if they could get anymore but a quick look at Thomann secured my new toy. Three days later and it's sat in my front room. It's a difficult colour to photograph and i wasn't sure i would like the pearly scratchplate so i had popped a mint one in the basket along with some nicer metal knobs to potentially (see what i did there) replace the plastic ones. I'm totally blown away with how they deliver this bass for £400. I've been lucky enough to have a lot of good basses over the last few years - a Spector Euro, various Musicmen, a couple of Fenders, a Sandberg, a G&L (which i've just put in the classifieds as a result) and I still have a Zon. This little £400 bass stands up with all of them. I can't find any issues at all with it and it was perfectly set up and in tune when i took it out of the box. The neck is so easy to play (rolled edges are great) with a lovely ebony board (even with a busted finger!), the preamp is a work of art - it sounds great passive anyway (and what i think a decent jazz should sound like) - but when you kick the preamp in the bass really comes alive. Huge bass, sparkling treble and a sweepable mid makes it seem like you can do anything with it. The tuners seem fine. The bridge looks a bit cheap so that may get a little upgrade down the line but it's just a vanity thing and i need to pop a Detuner on. I've had the bass a week and can't stop picking it up 🙂 The metal knobs made a nice final difference and i haven't decided which scratchplate i like best so i've done a poll. I still really fancy a Betsy though.....

Hah! A fatal combination :-) Just doing a NBD post now :-) all will be revealed. Squashed it moving a table. Not very rockn'roll....could just about play but wanted to wait till the bleeding stopped in case i stained the neck 😂

Nice snag cousin! I wondered when you would hit the button on something like this - that lockdown boredom finally got you 😂 Must be something in the air......i grabbed a Sire V7 last week (and 10 mins after it arrived busted my finger so had to lay off playing it for a few days!)

Did Jamerson have a bass of doom as well?

I've used these and they're fine. No peeling problems at all.

No idea sorry - haven't taken it off 🙂

Here's my Sire V7 in the burgundy colour - its a very accurate colour representation and i think it's a tiny bit less pink and a bit more grey than Betsy. I just took delivery of it a few days ago. Betsy was on the shopping list but i read up on these and thought i would give it a go as it was available immediately and the colour seems to be getting hard to find in this spec (Alder/Ebony). It's a fabulous bass at a stupid low price - I can't put it down and how they do it for c£400 i don't know. A brilliant neck (i'm getting used to the headstock shape) with rolled edges, excellent setup straight out of the box, the pickups and preamp are awesome. The only little niggle was a slightly sharp bridge saddle edge that 2 mins with a file sorted out. And a Betsy is still on my list....

Now £750 SOLD USA G&L L2000 4 string bass for sale. Gloss black body and rosewood neck model. I bought this from the original owner 8 months ago and he had bought it new from a shop on tour in America in 2000. Looking at the serial I reckon that makes it a 1998 at the earliest and more likely a 1999 model. Its not a closet queen and has wear typical of the 20 years of use that it's had. There is some buffing to the area above the pickups (which should actually polish out if i could be bothered) and a few minor dings and surface scuffs. No lumps out of it though and tbh I prefer basses that i don't have to be too precious about in a gig situation. I would say it was a good 8/10 at least. The neck is beautifully played in with a nice softening of the edges and a C profile. G&L used a few different sizes of neck at that time - this measures 42mm or 1.65 inches wide at the nut (wider than a Jazz but narrower than a normal Precision). It's quite similar in feel to my old Nate Mendel Precision which was really nice. All the electrics work spot on with no crackles or weird stuff going on. You really can get a huge range of different tones from these basses - they are very versatile from old skool passive to more modern active sounds. The truss rod bullet nut was replaced by the Bass Gallery a few months back as it was beginning to round off and a set up and fret level carried out at the same time. The truss rod works perfectly as a result and it plays beautifully with a nice low action. It has brand new strings on it too. There is a Hipshot DeTuner fitted at present but i will probably take that off (as it will fit my new bass) and the original G&L tuner will be refitted. If you want it left on talk to me about it - we can work something out but its NOT factored in to my asking price at present. The original G&L hard case comes with the bass - a little beaten up but perfectly serviceable and no bad smells or anything! Socially responsible collection from near Stansted Airport, happy to drive for a bit by arrangement for an equally socially responsible meet up. I do have a shipping box and it has the hard case so i think shipping is possible (I usually prefer not to but bearing in mind the current situation it's probably wise to offer it). I would want full payment upfront though and the courier arranged by the buyer in case they need to chase anything up - once it's left me it's up to you. I can send sound samples, video of packing, boxing and sealing before collection and provide great feedback links for reassurance. Poss trades for a Handbox R400, Mesa Carbine, Musicman or Lakland 44-02 bass but i would prefer a straight sale ideally Thanks for looking and pop me a message if you need any further info or pictures

Cable maybe? Did you use the same on on both amps?
-
They'll have to factor a distributor margin in now - it'll reflect in the price if you buy from the UK.
-
I think it looks great and the quality will be top notch. Nice to have something a bit left of centre too :-) Nice snag!

MT Power drummer is a great free drum program. You can just drag premade loops onto your DAW to create drum tracks. Even I managed to do it 😊
-
I've got one - its fine, has a midas preamp on the XLR and the direct monitor switch is good. Perfectly useable.
-
This will be fine - its all you need and half the price of most of the competition https://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_u_phoria_umc22.htm

I solved this riddle a few posts back. You have the option of a Babiscz bridge at 495 or standard bridge at 395. "Super Slim Sixties" neck profile New, light weight, balanced body contour Vintage spec pickup Matching headstock Mirrored pickguard Chrome "Ashtray" bridge cover Available with upgraded Babicz Full Contact Bridge

There's an option on some of the basses to have a Babiscz bridge - that bumps it up £100 on them. Maybe thats where you can see 2 prices?

Some sort of problem with the earthing???

Haven't you already got these with the USB interface or DAW package? Mine has Amplitube and a bunch of other stuff that does that kind of thing?
