  1. It'll be fine - its in a soft case with 2 tons of old hifi and LP records on top of it to keep it flat! 🙂
  2. Not many green ones about......this was a catalogue page from that year
  3. It's because its "the best CLASS D amp" and not "the best amp"..... lots of people try them for a bit and then frequently find they're missing a bit of secret sauce compared with other amps. I've had quite a few and only found 2 that get close for me. But i still prefer my class A/B Gallien.
  4. I have a 1979 Aria LC440 Custom that my dad bought new for my 15th birthday from Holiday Music in Leytonstone. It was played for a year or so before i committed to a bass future and is currently tucked up in my loft. A really pretty guitar and fabulous quality. Flamed sycamore top, mahogany body, birch neck, cream binding, gold hardware and sounds great. Its identical to this one....
  5. You wont find one of these with a maple board - they were all rosewood.....
  6. Yep, the numbers are only numbers really aren't they. The reality in the gigging world is that if its loud enough then its loud enough regardless of the numbers.
  7. I think the 750 is the same as the 450 at 236w long term and 450w burst Its here in the table on the last page http://downloads.music-group.com/software/tcelectronic/tc_electronic_bass_amp_power_rating___active_power_management.pdf
  8. I was going to say the Quilter should do that for you too...
  9. You won't be able to tell properly at home - you'll need to try it in anger at a rehearsal or gig before you really know whether its a keeper. I've had quite a few bits that sounded great in the house but ran for cover in a band situation - class D amps probably being the worse offenders....
  10. I don't think the Trace or Hartke cabs that you mention will cut it live in a rock band when you get playing live. You'll probably need something with a bit more welly about it that you don't have to push so hard. I would suggest at least a 1x12 cab and a 500w head (which will only output 250/300w through a single 8ohm cab). Or a 500w combo with an option to run an extra cab from it (those Fender Rumble ones seem pretty loved at the moment) There's a Barefaced Super 12 in the classifieds just down the M11 from you at the moment for under £500 if you could stretch to it and it will cover off anything you're ever likely to do from pubs to outdoor stuff. For an amp head you can frequently pick up used Markbass LM2/3 (there's a Mark Bass Big Bang a few miles from the Barefaced cab funnily enough - neither are mine!), Ashdowns, Gallien RB series or EBS Reidmars for peanuts - none of them weigh much. Try and stick to the classifieds on here as well - you can usually flip used gear without too much of a loss (if any) if you don't get on with it. Most guys on here are well intentioned, informed and honest and are great to deal with. £650/700 on here will get you a great rig - it's a great time to be a bass player with the quality of gear thats around at great prices.
  11. I agree with this above. As soon as you go public you risk provoking a response which could rapidly turn into a slanging match and that's not in the spirit of this lovely site. The fact that the potential purchaser is already on this site and looking at classifieds would indicate that they are capable of exploring/researching the internet for similar items and consequently are able to draw their own conclusion if its overpriced or not. And I wouldn't want a price policeman getting publicly involved in one of my sales - surely it would really boil down to a difference of opinion regarding what something was worth? There has been a recent flurry of sales classifieds on the site of a particular type of bass that i keep a bit of an eye out for - i owned one a few years back and regret selling it (it was worth about £500 then and i sold it happily for £450 i think). They've popped up for up to £700 recently on here for various reasons. On other auction sites there are currently a few at about £500 now but they don't take long to sell on there. The ones on here are still here months later and no one has upset anyone it seems (publicly at least!). It's probably best left like that imho
  12. Here you go....sorted. You can thank me later :-)
  13. I've had a USA Sterling and both 2 and 3 band EQ USA Stingrays along with a USA S.U.B The Sterling is very close to a 3 band Stingray with the 3 way switch set to the rear position. It fattens up in the front position. It's also inherently a bit more more aggressive sounding imho. It's nothing like a 2 band Stingray though which sounds warmer, fatter and deeper with a less aggressive mid...... I loved my Sterling (it was a beautiful honeyburst/maple one) for the sounds but i couldn't get on with the skinny neck hence ending up with Stingrays. Every one was brilliant though - i don't have a MM in the stable at the moment but i can see me getting something again in the future. A Sterling with a Stingray neck would be perfect for me (currently using a G+L L2000 so not far off it)
  14. Just stumbled over this guy reviewing a Schecter bass. Its a really great review, a balanced mix of styles and very informative. He can really play....theres a bit of Holy Wars early on, Jaco a bIt further in and a lovely noodle of Wicked Game at about 9:47. Have a look :-)
  15. Do it!!! Do it!!! Do it!!! 😂
  16. Not enough for my liking.....
  17. Hilarious punter vocal contribution on Saturday night...turn the volume up and have a listen. He was blitzed when we arrived at 7.30pm and could just about stand up at about 10pm when this little gem happened :-)
  18. We just picked up one tonight due to the booked band cancelling...... and had 2 others offered to us! I've got a bad feeling about the one we're booked in for tomorrow night though.... I can smell a cancellation
  19. Looks like a Tonepump with the cover missing maybe? Did you go for the Superlight version?
  20. Just sold my Berg cab to Marshall. Quick transaction and collection and a great bloke (and player!). Highly recommended :-)
  21. They last for yonks! Great strings :-)
  22. Get a roadie and he can slide the castors off for you?
  23. I think its a good idea - you can just have a mooch through and see if anything takes your fancy rather than having a grand plan.......
  24. There's gotta be a catch... 🤔
  25. Put them on their side???
