  1. Here's my Sire V7 in the burgundy colour - its a very accurate colour representation and i think it's a tiny bit less pink and a bit more grey than Betsy. I just took delivery of it a few days ago. Betsy was on the shopping list but i read up on these and thought i would give it a go as it was available immediately and the colour seems to be getting hard to find in this spec (Alder/Ebony). It's a fabulous bass at a stupid low price - I can't put it down and how they do it for c£400 i don't know. A brilliant neck (i'm getting used to the headstock shape) with rolled edges, excellent setup straight out of the box, the pickups and preamp are awesome. The only little niggle was a slightly sharp bridge saddle edge that 2 mins with a file sorted out. And a Betsy is still on my list....
  2. Now £750 SOLD USA G&L L2000 4 string bass for sale. Gloss black body and rosewood neck model. I bought this from the original owner 8 months ago and he had bought it new from a shop on tour in America in 2000. Looking at the serial I reckon that makes it a 1998 at the earliest and more likely a 1999 model. Its not a closet queen and has wear typical of the 20 years of use that it's had. There is some buffing to the area above the pickups (which should actually polish out if i could be bothered) and a few minor dings and surface scuffs. No lumps out of it though and tbh I prefer basses that i don't have to be too precious about in a gig situation. I would say it was a good 8/10 at least. The neck is beautifully played in with a nice softening of the edges and a C profile. G&L used a few different sizes of neck at that time - this measures 42mm or 1.65 inches wide at the nut (wider than a Jazz but narrower than a normal Precision). It's quite similar in feel to my old Nate Mendel Precision which was really nice. All the electrics work spot on with no crackles or weird stuff going on. You really can get a huge range of different tones from these basses - they are very versatile from old skool passive to more modern active sounds. The truss rod bullet nut was replaced by the Bass Gallery a few months back as it was beginning to round off and a set up and fret level carried out at the same time. The truss rod works perfectly as a result and it plays beautifully with a nice low action. It has brand new strings on it too. There is a Hipshot DeTuner fitted at present but i will probably take that off (as it will fit my new bass) and the original G&L tuner will be refitted. If you want it left on talk to me about it - we can work something out but its NOT factored in to my asking price at present. The original G&L hard case comes with the bass - a little beaten up but perfectly serviceable and no bad smells or anything! Socially responsible collection from near Stansted Airport, happy to drive for a bit by arrangement for an equally socially responsible meet up. I do have a shipping box and it has the hard case so i think shipping is possible (I usually prefer not to but bearing in mind the current situation it's probably wise to offer it). I would want full payment upfront though and the courier arranged by the buyer in case they need to chase anything up - once it's left me it's up to you. I can send sound samples, video of packing, boxing and sealing before collection and provide great feedback links for reassurance. Poss trades for a Handbox R400, Mesa Carbine, Musicman or Lakland 44-02 bass but i would prefer a straight sale ideally Thanks for looking and pop me a message if you need any further info or pictures
  3. Cable maybe? Did you use the same on on both amps?
  4. They'll have to factor a distributor margin in now - it'll reflect in the price if you buy from the UK.
  5. I think it looks great and the quality will be top notch. Nice to have something a bit left of centre too :-) Nice snag!
  6. MT Power drummer is a great free drum program. You can just drag premade loops onto your DAW to create drum tracks. Even I managed to do it 😊
  7. I've got one - its fine, has a midas preamp on the XLR and the direct monitor switch is good. Perfectly useable.
  8. This will be fine - its all you need and half the price of most of the competition https://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_u_phoria_umc22.htm
  9. I solved this riddle a few posts back. You have the option of a Babiscz bridge at 495 or standard bridge at 395. "Super Slim Sixties" neck profile New, light weight, balanced body contour Vintage spec pickup Matching headstock Mirrored pickguard Chrome "Ashtray" bridge cover Available with upgraded Babicz Full Contact Bridge
  10. There's an option on some of the basses to have a Babiscz bridge - that bumps it up £100 on them. Maybe thats where you can see 2 prices?
  11. Some sort of problem with the earthing???
  12. Haven't you already got these with the USB interface or DAW package? Mine has Amplitube and a bunch of other stuff that does that kind of thing?
  13. I've just gone down the same path..... I have a 6 year old Windows 10 laptop - nothing posh. You'll need a USB audio interface to get a bass/mic signal into the laptop - i bought this for £25 (it was an open box model) and it seems fine https://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_u_phoria_umc22.htm Plug your bass or vocals straight in the front. USB out the back into your computer. The live monitoring button is useful. Focusrite, M Audio and Native Instruments all make them for around £80 but the Behringer ones are quite decent for half the price. You will also need a DAW program on your laptop to act as a mixer - this will also let you play keyboards/samples/drum loops to add to your bass track. I started with free Waveform Tracktion which is pretty easy (i would highly recommend watching as many YouTube user guides to whichever DAW you end up with before you start pushing buttons and confusing yourself - i wish someone had told me that before i started). For drums i downloaded MT Power Drumkit to use in the DAW. It's free and lets you grab and build loops very quickly and easily https://www.powerdrumkit.com/download76187.php That got me started and laying drums, bass and some keyboard bits down and was a lot of fun even though its a steep learning curve - there's a lot of stuff there that i've never done before and its easy to get confused with settings. YouTube is your friend here - every issue i've come across so far has been resolved via videos or help forums online. Do it in bite sized sessions and don't expect to become a recording genius in a few weeks. After a fortnight i got fed up doing drums and keyboards on the laptop keyboard so invested in a midi keyboard - you can get them for £50 upwards. I spent a little more (£85) and ended up with a Native Instruments M32. Most of the cheap ones are 25 keys and this one is 32 - it's kind of handy having the extra range on the keys and also has real knobs on it to control some stuff without using a mouse. It's less deep front to back than some and fits on the desk easily in front of my laptop. The other selling point for me was that it comes with a very good software package of hundreds of loops, synths and instruments, a fully contained management suite and DAW and also an extra free DAW called Ableton that is nice and easy to use https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/keyboards/komplete-kontrol-m32/ So, i've spent around £100 and got everything i need for the minute using headphones to listen with. If i stick with it i'll probably get some small active monitor speakers. There are loads of free VST's around (instruments, effects, samples and loops) so you can get very acceptable results and have a lot of fun very cheaply. I'm enjoying myself and gradually becoming more self sufficient every weekend. The biggest lesson i've learned is to pick one DAW and learn how to use it before you try another - i wasted a lot of time trying to use a few different ones but they all work a little differently and i was confusing myself more than i needed to. Reaper, Ableton Lite and Waveform Tracktion are the ones i've tried and i've settled on Ableton so far.

  15. They should be looking at sponsoring you Dave!!! 🤣
  16. Both run on batteries
  17. Zoom B1oN for the win here......there may be one in the classifieds ☺️ i've got a Yamaha Sessioncake and it is very good - sound quality is probably a bit better than the Zoom but the sheer amount of other things going on with the Zoom win it for me
  18. Probably one thats about the size of the Empire State building with those cabs. But check the impedance will go down to 2 ohms if one cab is already 4 ohms - that will limit your choice a bit...
  19. FOR SALE SOLD £35 Zoom B1oN multi effects unit Brilliant bit of kit in great condition - just have a look on this site for what people say about. Has velcro on the back of the case. Battery operated multi effects unit with amp sims, a tuner, a looper, drum machine, headphone out and aux in. Everything you need for home practice and more. I've moved on to a Zoom B3N recently so this is surplus now. I can factory reset it if you like (i thought most of the factory ones were a bit extreme tbh) or send as it is with my own presets loaded. And i'll have a look for the box - i think i still have it :-) Socially distanced collection from me is no problem, I'm near Harlow in Essex or i can post it for a couple of quid extra. https://www.zoom-na.com/products/effects-preamps/bass/zoom-b1on-bass-effects-pedal
  20. Sorted! I hit the button on a Native Instruments M32 keyboard. So no pads, more keys and a bit over budget but it's my birthday in a couple of weeks 🎂😉 Seems to have a good software package and more importantly for me a chord cheat mode! The geeks seem to quite like it on YouTube so I'll give it a go. Thanks for the advice guys https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/keyboards/komplete-kontrol-m32/
  21. That's on my list too :-) There seems to be quite a few secondhand ones of those floating about.....
  22. Brilliant! Totally not my thing normally but i thought the whole thing was excellent. Well done and best of luck with your album :-)
  23. cheers Skidder - i think i want one with pads probably. i was looking at this one https://www.musicmatter.co.uk/nektar-impact-lx25-9722 or maybe this one https://www.musicmatter.co.uk/novation-launchkey-mini-mk2?gclid=CjwKCAjwk6P2BRAIEiwAfVJ0rA_oHLEJb50wA_RjUyLXT82jbaic7xuwiFzAfxGUYpAUnMFHBeMvThoCROoQAvD_BwE
