  1. Brilliant! Totally not my thing normally but i thought the whole thing was excellent. Well done and best of luck with your album :-)
  2. cheers Skidder - i think i want one with pads probably. i was looking at this one https://www.musicmatter.co.uk/nektar-impact-lx25-9722 or maybe this one https://www.musicmatter.co.uk/novation-launchkey-mini-mk2?gclid=CjwKCAjwk6P2BRAIEiwAfVJ0rA_oHLEJb50wA_RjUyLXT82jbaic7xuwiFzAfxGUYpAUnMFHBeMvThoCROoQAvD_BwE
  3. Brian just bought some strings from me. Dead easy transaction and great comms 😊
  4. I think i need a 25 key (small) to go with my new audio interface and DAW software so i can expand upon just recording bass and drum loops. Something idiot proof, compact and with pads as well as a keyboard (i think). Budget is probably under £80 unless theres a spectacular reason to spend more. i cant' play the piano so key size is probably not a worry as it'll all be a bit weird for me anyway :-) Anyone with any recommendations, pointers or ones to avoid?
  5. Probably cheaper to just buy a replacement tuner for it from Schaller/Hipshot or suchlike. Alternatively, grab a used Hipshot D tuner - they go for about £50 usually - pop it on the E string one and move the E tuner to the G position. All sorted and you've gained a drop D tuner for playing with 🙂
  6. I picked up a lovely 5 string G+L a while ago with the intention of trying to switch from 4 strings. I found that playing fingerstyle i could manage reasonably easily on it but as soon as i used a pick i kept tangling myself up on it. And in my band i always use a pick. I persevered for about 3 months and gigged it twice but couldn't get confident on it. Advice from fellow Basschatters was to throw the 4 strings away completely and commit to the 5 but a hectic gigging schedule meant that i couldn't find the time to do it (plenty of time now, doh!). Sold it on and bought a 4 string version of the same bass and stuck a detuner on it like my other basses. Itch duly scratched but i know my limits....
  7. Stu's tattoo artist could do with some spelling lessons 😂
  8. Elixir Stainless 45-105 4 string long scale bass strings for sale Price dropped to £22 posted SOLD Put them on the other night - played for 20 mins in the front room and realised that (yet again) i just prefer super zingy sounds rather than 90% zingy!!!! They're not for me (again - i've been here before!) Then the Markbass strings offer came up, i bought a few sets from there, they arrived a few days ago and they've gone on the bass that had the Elixirs on 🙂 Sorry, i couldn't retrieve the original box from the recycling so they'll come in the MarkBass box Cut for a 4 in line headstock - came off my G&L L2000 so will fit Fender shaped headstocks etc and should fit some 2 a side ones. I can measure string length if you like - just ask Price includes postage and of course i'll give the box a wipe down before i send it. The strings have been in the box for a few days so shouldn't need wiping. You're welcome to collect if preferable with appropriate social distancing. Paypal or bank transfer please (whichever's easiest for you) Thanks for looking
  9. Built in wireless with a rechargeable receiver, bluetooth tuner with a rechargeable floor display and i'm sorted ta The less chance of me tripping over something the better and it isolates me from mains issues. 🙂
  10. Got thrown out of Lidl's last week for doing that......she was trying to stack the biscuits at the time
  11. Back to a P bass???
  12. Fabulous bass! Great snag....
  13. A small world just got a bit smaller. I seem to remember it was £140 new which is about £800 today. My dad persuaded me against a £99 luminous pink Les Paul copy from Marlin or somebody in favour of the Aria. Always listen to your dad!!!
  14. It'll be fine - its in a soft case with 2 tons of old hifi and LP records on top of it to keep it flat! 🙂
  15. Not many green ones about......this was a catalogue page from that year
  16. It's because its "the best CLASS D amp" and not "the best amp"..... lots of people try them for a bit and then frequently find they're missing a bit of secret sauce compared with other amps. I've had quite a few and only found 2 that get close for me. But i still prefer my class A/B Gallien.
  17. I have a 1979 Aria LC440 Custom that my dad bought new for my 15th birthday from Holiday Music in Leytonstone. It was played for a year or so before i committed to a bass future and is currently tucked up in my loft. A really pretty guitar and fabulous quality. Flamed sycamore top, mahogany body, birch neck, cream binding, gold hardware and sounds great. Its identical to this one....
  18. You wont find one of these with a maple board - they were all rosewood.....
  19. Yep, the numbers are only numbers really aren't they. The reality in the gigging world is that if its loud enough then its loud enough regardless of the numbers.
  20. I think the 750 is the same as the 450 at 236w long term and 450w burst Its here in the table on the last page http://downloads.music-group.com/software/tcelectronic/tc_electronic_bass_amp_power_rating___active_power_management.pdf
  21. I was going to say the Quilter should do that for you too...
  22. You won't be able to tell properly at home - you'll need to try it in anger at a rehearsal or gig before you really know whether its a keeper. I've had quite a few bits that sounded great in the house but ran for cover in a band situation - class D amps probably being the worse offenders....
  23. I don't think the Trace or Hartke cabs that you mention will cut it live in a rock band when you get playing live. You'll probably need something with a bit more welly about it that you don't have to push so hard. I would suggest at least a 1x12 cab and a 500w head (which will only output 250/300w through a single 8ohm cab). Or a 500w combo with an option to run an extra cab from it (those Fender Rumble ones seem pretty loved at the moment) There's a Barefaced Super 12 in the classifieds just down the M11 from you at the moment for under £500 if you could stretch to it and it will cover off anything you're ever likely to do from pubs to outdoor stuff. For an amp head you can frequently pick up used Markbass LM2/3 (there's a Mark Bass Big Bang a few miles from the Barefaced cab funnily enough - neither are mine!), Ashdowns, Gallien RB series or EBS Reidmars for peanuts - none of them weigh much. Try and stick to the classifieds on here as well - you can usually flip used gear without too much of a loss (if any) if you don't get on with it. Most guys on here are well intentioned, informed and honest and are great to deal with. £650/700 on here will get you a great rig - it's a great time to be a bass player with the quality of gear thats around at great prices.
