The only time I've ever couriered a bass - albeit a Musicman Sterling so fairly high value - i insisted that the buyer arranged the courier and that he also paid me an extra £50 for me to buy a new hard case as i only had a gig bag for it. I wouldn't have been happy without it.

Not my usual sort of band but they were amazing at what they did. I wish i'd seen them live. My missus used to buy sweets from his parents sweet shop in Braintree and he used to go to the pictures with her and her mates - she said he was always really nice. So sad....

I'm probably 'dumber than the average bass player Boo Boo" but i wouldn't have thought of looking in Accessories and Misc for PA info. I like the idea of a Playing live section as mentioned above though...

YES!!!! A seminal live album that I've loved for 30 years. Our geetard has a Schenker fetish so we manage to crank out Lights Out at the rockier gigs - love it!

I think it'll be fine in conjunction with your preamps. I have a similar set up (a couple of barefaced BB2's aren't far off a SuperTwin) and use a VT Bass DI to boost the top end if required. The Quilter isn't totally bereft of top end - its in there but you have to think a bit different to get it as it doesn't have a treble control. You need to turn the contour a bit to the left which increases the scoop, turn the depth a bit to the left which reduces the bass. This'll leave you with a toppier tone which you then push the volume to bring it back up and add a bit of the depth (bass) back in to taste. Or spend £40 on a graphic eq pedal to use in front of it...

Warwick Reds are fine for me at such a cheap price. I'm lucky to get 4 gigs (or about 3 weeks at normal gig frequency) out of a set of strings before they start to go off for me so i'm reluctant to chuck much money at them. My favourites are DR HiBeams - i get 5 or 6 gigs from those - which i get from Amazon USA for just over £24 and tend to buy in bulk but at less than £10 the Reds do me fine and i don't find them particularly rough on the fingers. Good spot on the Gear4Music price Lozz, i've just hoovered some up :-)

I voted burst but not for the common old garden burst's that we normally see. It was for this one that i used to own and its now one of my few regrets that I let it go. I wouldn't be playing it much but i could look at it for days... Musicman Autumn Redburst Sparkle.

Totally agree! Brilliant bit of kit. You just need to open your mind a bit from what we're used to seeing on an amp. Want more top end without a treble knob? Just dial in the mid scoop, cut the depth a bit and push the volume. Valvey sag? Crank the gain past 7 and let the limiter kick in. Clean endless muscle? Gain below 5 and push the master.... And it has heft! My fave setting is 1 click up on the depth and 2 clicks back on the contour with gain at 6. Amazing little amp :-) Enjoy!

We were chatting to them on the way in......they made no attempt to help us on the way out.......they just gave us a bollocking for not letting them know we were using the side entrance. Stuff 'em......

Friday night - singist has a filthy cold and has pretty much lost his voice but its a new gig for us so he decides to give it a go. 3 songs in and we're thinking we might not make it through but we slog on till half time. He warms up bit and we struggle through. It turns into a decent night. Until the load out....the DJ starts at 1am and about 200 kids pile in as its the only place in Hertford open late. And they're all in between us and the exit - doh! We eventually manage to get everything out of a fire door to the side (but still have to get past loads of kids in the corridor and an earsplitting PA system) and then carry everything up the road to the transport as you cant park outside. We brought half what we normally use as it was an inhouse PA and light system and it still took us nearly 75 minutes to get away. We've taken it off our gigs to pursue list......they couldn't pay me enough to do that load out again. Saturday night - the polar opposite. Second time at a new venue in Staines for us. Easy load in, a great stage, lovely punters who were up for a sing, brill door staff and owners, singer recovering nicely, we played well and got some decent video to use. The only downside was at the McDonalds in St Albans on the way home - I thought i would try a new Bacon Big Mac but it arrived minus the bacon. I was too tired and hungry to complain..... :-) And we have a 2 week break now before the adventure continues Heres a bit of crowd footage from the better one - sound came out ok especially on some headphones :-)

Absolutely this - slave labour working conditions and creative tax dodgers that are massively responsible for the impending misery of empty High Streets. Thousands more retail staff unemployed over the next few years and claiming benefits that the tax system wont be able to support because of their nefarious tax practices. An appalling company with a total lack of social responsibility.

Exactly this We take a few liberties with some popular covers and frequently get compliments after the gig about what we've done with them

Not quite leaving something behind but we lost the van last year... It was at a gig in St Albans where we have to park it in a side street after unloading. Played the gig and drummer/driver trotted off to collect the van. He's away quite a bit longer than we expected and eventually returns in a state of panic. The van has gone! It had his house keys and wallet full of credit cards in it as well as all the flightcases for our gear and various spare bits of kit. This caused us multiple problems because the gear was effectively stuck in the pub as a result. The drummist has reported it stolen to the police, been on the phone and woke his wife up to cancel all his credit cards and called another mate with a van to come and get us. Thats why he was so long. So we sat in the pub waiting for the other van to turn up. Until after about half an hour he remembered he had parked it two streets further away.........We're still living off that one.......

We had some stuff made in China and there were 2 cost prices quoted. One was for a guaranteed no copies item and the other cheaper one was for a production line that was a "bit nearer to the back door of the factory"

After a flying start to the year with 2 great gigs we were waiting for the banana skin gig. And that would be Friday then......a gig that we do a few times a year in Hertfordshire that can be a bit hit or miss attendance wise - we tend to get a couple of decent ones then a run of tumbleweeders. We were expecting the January drop off and we got it. Only about 40 people in and they were either annoyingly drunk or completely disinterested and standing at the bar round the corner. We had a minor bit of excitement though - 4 songs in and the guitarist lost all volume on his amp. As we all looked round to see what had happened a load of smoke started pouring out the back!! Highly entertaining :-) A quick jiggle around and backup amp sourcing and we were off again. So we got the duffer out of the way on Friday and hit Surrey last night. A regular one that we do about 4 times a year and we love it there. Usually a decent sized crowd and last night was good. Best sound we've had there i think, got some decent useable video and one of the crowd that was there is the sister of someone who owns a pub we want to get into - she had a great night and is going to sort some dates for us. That fixed it and we're back on track happy bunnies
