Yep....downhill all the way now 😉

We had a blinding weekend....... Friday night - a new venue to us in Hounslow. Rock venue with an established crowd and no worries re hazers/smoke alarms so we could use all the lights and lasers to best effect and make a good show of it in front of a healthy amount of punters. We've been on a good run of form for a few months now, playing well and switching the set around to freshen things up a bit and we played really well on the night. And we trotted out some nichey widdley stuff that we cant normally do in regular pubs. They have some very good bands in there so they know their music (and typically stand around at the edges watching rather than jumping around until we got a few ladees dancing at the front and dragging the old man up too ☺️) We went down a storm, loads of people bothering to come up after with compliments, musos checking the gear out and having a chat etc.....a great night. It was a cheapo tryout night but the owner just asked what the usual rate was and coughed up voluntarily so that was a bonus. Rebooks secured for next year and i think we're going to enjoy this one. Saturday night - a regular gig in a Hertford pub. The people that run it are lovely and they have a resident crowd that just start dancing from the first note. We've got to know quite a few of them over the last 2 years and its become like playing to all your mates. Again we played well and the sound was great - big and ballsy but not too loud for them. And again loads of nice comments afterwards - one bloke even insisted on helping cart the gear out afterwards (we've got a ton of stuff so thats a massive bonus). Oh and theres a brill kebab shop 50 yards away thats open late.....

I'm gonna be in so much trouble at rehearsal

I have the same glazing over feeling when we do Comfortably Numb......i've never liked Floyd or the song in general. The annoying thing is that we keep getting asked to play it in the pubs and the geetards do a good job of it by all accounts. I usually just slide off to the rear of the stage and pull funny faces at the drummer for 5 minutes to try and put him off a bit 😉 -
Just bought a strap off Paul - all good and he even dropped it off round my house. Much appreciated and recommended!

Absolutely this..... I'm lucky enough to be playing with a tight as a ducks drummer for the last 6 years (although we've known each other for 30 years) and i can spot when he's going to try something from just a look in his eye. You can almost smell it coming..... We seem to be thinking the same most of the time. I'm pretty average in my own opinion but we just seem to work very well together - deps frequently say how easy it makes their job. I've played with loads of drummers over the last 35 years and this is the best its ever been.

Fish and chips - Georges Portobello Fish Bar just off Golborne Rd. You can tie it in with a visit to Portobello Rd market. Curry - all my Indian mates reckon that Royal Nawaab on the A40 in NW London is their favourite, i havent been there yet but its top of my hit list when i get a night out https://royalnawaab.com/london Its also worth a trip up the Shard for a drink at sunset or on a good sunny day in the Aqua Shard on floor 31. Although the drinks are expensive its a great view and a buzzy atmosphere. And this black Taxi tour is a great way to see London - qualified tour guide taxi drivers that will show you all the best bits https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g186338-d1888678-Reviews-London_Black_Taxi_Tours-London_England.html

This isn't a proper retailer as we would normally describe one - its similar to Ali Express i.e a portal to buy mainly cheap products direct from China. Its littered with fakes and poor quality clones. Genuine Elixir strings are made in the USA (not China) And i wouldn't give any of my personal payment details out to them...... -
I have a spare gig bag for sale. Its a TGI Extreme Bass Gig Bag and they usually sell for about £40 new. Overall great condition, zips all good and very clean. Loads of storage space and well padded. And a single handle, hurrah! One issue - a weeny area at the bottom where the strap button on your bass contacts is beginning to get a bit thin, its not through yet but you may want to stick a bit of gaffer over it or sew a small patch before it goes through. it just means the strap button will eventually poke through - the rest of the fabric is A1 (Thats why its cheap!) Collection only from near Stansted Airport (sorry i'm not posting it) Same as the one below....
