  1. Wasn't me on Thomann buddy but its pretty much what i would have written.
  2. Absolutely correct sir, its a beast!
  3. Looks a bit like my Classic Lacquer 50's now 😉 Fender Classic 50's Lacquer Precision Bass by Jon Ashbee, on Flickr
  4. Same here - i grabbed one as an experiment after having poor experiences with other class D amps (slam, heft blah blah...) Its an amazing little bit of kit and provides most of what i was missing from other class D's. I'm 4 gigs in with it and loving it. The unusual tone controls are very intuitive as long as you spend 10 minutes having a think and a fiddle at home to understand them. It sounds huge in a band situation through a couple of Barefaced cabs using a good P Bass. Loads of heft, plenty of volume and no flattening of the low end when you crank it - the sound stays consistent when you get loud with it. The clever limiting is easy to hear when you run the gain over 7 and the sag begins to appear or you can keep it clear and clean with lower gain and higher master. Really impressed with it 🙂
  5. Thats a Honeyburst finish. One of their nicest ones imho... GLWTS :-)
  6. Don't think you'll manage that one without using a pick tbh
  7. I suggest you should move the original post straight into the general discussion thread where it should be........;-)
  8. I had one and didn't notice a massive difference between the 2 channels EQ tbh - it was quite subtle. It was mainly the Gain that made a difference. Channel B was just a touch fatter and valvey sounding, Channel A was crisper.
  9. It's because you've switched the valves in.......it's supposed to make it a bit warmer (or muddier if you like) 😉
  10. What, like this one........ 😉
  11. For Sale SOLD SKB Roto Rack 4u Rack Case - the 2013 version before the current one so it has the much comfier handles. IMHO its one of the best rack cases you can buy. Great used condition, all latches fully functional and just some minor scuffing outside but nothing scary. Has rack fixtures front and rear and internal depth is 445mm (not the shallow version) Includes 1u metal blank panel and 8 rack screws. Selling because I've just picked up a new non rackmount amp and this is now surplus to reqs. I also have a 2u Proel rack bag that you can have for free if you buy the SKB! Collection from Herts/Essex/Harlow area. May be able to deliver with a petrol contribution to London/Kent/Suffolk over next few weeks if you're not in a rush. Sorry, no postage option at the moment.
  12. If its within warranty you should be dealing with the vendor not the distributor - they're trying to dodge out of their responsibility by passing you on
  13. I thought that was a red light......
  14. Absolutely this! Our shedbuilder invested in one about 3 months ago - same issues, he's naturally loud so the volumes creep up for everyone blah blah....... We thought we'd only use it on certain gigs where we are scaring the landlord but we've found that our whole sound is miles better with it and now use it almost all the time. As well as limiting the overall drum volume its tightened the whole sound up and i can slot the bass in a lot easier with the kick (which we put thru the pa/sub). Nobody's suffering from cymbal ears any more either. We can get a great controlled beefy sound at lower volumes. Its also a great topic of conversation with the crowd - especially when we tell them we fill it with water in the second set :-) And we're looking for some stick on Garfields to stick on the inside where he cant each them whilst he's playing.
  15. Sandberg California necks are more like a Jazz neck - very much skinnier than a 'Ray in all dimensions
  16. Heres my Sandy PM4. Its an old one (cant find a serial number anywhere....) but a fabulous bass. Almost plays itself. sandberg 8 by Jon Ashbee, on Flickr sandberg 7 by Jon Ashbee, on Flickr sandberg 5 by Jon Ashbee, on Flickr
  17. Says 8 ohms on the back panel........
  18. Hey, thats entertainment!
  19. I was listening to a radio talk show a few months ago that brought up the subject of tribute bands. There were a few callers who were slating them saying they were cashing in on other peoples success. Then someone phoned in and made the point that there has been some fantastic music over the years from bands like Zep, The Who, Floyd etc who are being rediscovered by a younger generation. That younger generation would never be able to experience them live (the environment that said bands excelled in) and a good tribute band could get 90% of the way there if they took it seriously enough to recreate the stage show. This was the lightbulb moment for me - its keeping some great and influential music alive for a new generation to experience, and because of this its a winner for me. Ps i played a charity festival a few weeks ago along with a fabulous Bon Scott era AC/DC tribute band (PureDC). They absolutely nailed the look and attitude of the earlier ACDC and i thought they were excellent.
  20. I'll let you know.....i just bought one :-) They were all sold off at about £8 each from an auctioneers it seems - what a bargain!
  21. I have a 1997 2eq Stingray and also had a 2001 3eq at the same time. The 2001 was slimmer front to back (but i still prefer the 1997 which is a bit 'rounder' feeling). And i had a USA Sterling with the slimmer jazz style neck and didn't get on with it - i prefer something with a bit of meat on it.
  22. Yes we can. We stick the kick thru the sub in the PA with the low end cut a bit, emphasise the top end click a touch and use my bass to sit under the top end. It's sounding much better and we're constantly getting "great sound" comments from the punters and landlords. The problem we have in smaller pubs is not scaring the punters with the drums. This really works to tighten and contain everything and standing next to the cymbals isn't an issue anymore for me. And his screen was £600 with a flight case. Weighs a ton though.....
  23. We're a noisy rock band too. The drummer just bought a perspex screen fishtank thing to limit his volume and it works a treat. Tightens everything up and the cymbals don't kill us anymore. It doubles up as place for us to hide when it gets rowdy....
