Wishing you all the best. The opportunity to play in a heavy rock outfit hasn't cropped up for me. Given that's what I grew up listening to, its a little odd really. I'm sure you'll smash it. What are the other songs?
Do you do deps? If you do, i may be able to help you scratch the rock itch (ive got 60+ gigs booked till next Xmas and am going to need to dep a few out to save my marriage!!!)
Is there anything significant about a Nate Mendel body versus a standard Precision (just asking, not passing comment!)?
Its made of ash rather than alder It has a different shaped tummy cut (sort of longer along the top) Its a nitro finish rather than poly like a standard Mexican Oh and yes its Mexican

Many years ago i used to play in a band with Chas's daughter Juliet on keyboards. We rehearsed in the barn/studio at his house weekly - every now and then Chas, Dave and Mickey would turn up late at night with a box of cigars, a few bottles of brandy and a pack of cards (for the ongoing poker tournament) and kick us out saying they were just going to write and record the next album. I used to hang about a bit after and watch and they were all stunning players. They would literally just lock themselves in until they were finished. We used to pile in the house after rehearsals and scoff toast and tea with the family (his wife Jo was an ex Playboy bunny girl i think) - and i remember they had a big open fireplace with a really old Precision stuffed in the corner of it right next to the flames. A lovely group of people - very grounded and unaffected by it all but fantastic company

Vanderkley are better than Barefaced cabs, right?!
Mudpup replied to Al Krow's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'm not sure but i think you may invoke customs charges for moving things around outside Europe - it may not be quite so simple as it seems. Probably expensive to ship in both directions too. It could be a better idea to take a chance and buy on on Alex's verbal recommendation and just flip it in Canada if you don't get on with it - they're pretty rare out there so wont hang about long and the price should stay propped up to a point. -
The last band van I had, we put vinyls on the side saying "Security - Dog Section" down the side. It never got nicked... not sure if that proves anything!
I guess nobody wanted a dog......
Yeah they will struggle to sell those cabs at that price.
GAK have them at £500 already and RichTone Music have them at £450......

you need another option on that poll..... "i thought i would try some other posh cabs so bought a few second hand but found they were no better than my BF ones so sold them on again" I did exactly that - tried various flavours of Bergs, gigged them all once, found that they weren't any better sounding to my ears and then sold them straight on cos i preferred my Barefaceds. Lovely cabs though....

BF Gen 4 cabs - not anytime soon but a new BF Amp may be!
Mudpup replied to Al Krow's topic in Amps and Cabs
My wish list - A decent tuner - mutable from a footswitch. Maybe a couple or 3 programmable and foot switchable patch/preset buttons (like on a TC). Feet that won't slide off the shiny Barefaced cabs and will also clear any handles. I think an adjustable HPF of some sort to help tame boomy stages/rooms would be useful. And these 'taste' or 'filter' dials that a few amps have are pretty good for quickly changing the voicing. Knobs - not sub menus and LCD displays. Heft - something that doesn't sound weedy like a lot of the class D stuff does. For my purposes it needs some slam available. -
If there turns out there's some sort of problem or mistake with these I'm going to get lynched, aren't I?
Yep....... :-)

Thanks for the heads up - thats me £90 worse off now :-)

Pineapples banned by Reading and Leeds Festivals
Mudpup replied to SpondonBassed's topic in General Discussion
I'm a bit clueless about these things but why would anyone want to take a pineapple to a festival anyway
To throw at police squad of course ;-) -
I was hit by a pineapple at the Reading festival 1983. Right in the face, during Big Country
Possibly could have been worse.....i was there for those few years and remember vividly the bottles of "gentleman lemonade" flying around all over the place. I guess a pineapple is more painful though -
Zoom B1ON - no brainer.......i use mine all the time as a practice unit as well
and one just popped up in the classifieds too......... (not mine by the way)

Helped Krysz out with another cab for his Bergantino fetish ;-) Absolutely top draw guy - great communication, trusting and very easy to deal with. Totally recommended. If Carlsberg made Basschat purchasers.............
I played one of these today in GuitarGuitar Birmingham. I really liked it and am thinking about ways of making it, or one like it, mine. I thought it played nicely and sounded thumpy and tight. The relic'ing (which I'm not usually a fan of) looked subtle and realistic I thought, but the pickup covers where uneven to the point of looking like they weren't installed properly. The price has gone up too, £900+ now, for a MIM... Am I right in saying that tbese are also available in non-roadworn finish?
You can't get anything quite like this in any other version as far as i know - the neck size is unique to it, its made of ash and the body contour is different. It also has an SD QuarterPounder pickup (although you could retrofit that to any Precision). I played mine back to back with a normal Mexican P Bass and everything about it was noticeably different. The feel sold it to me and i do tend to like zingy rocky sounding basses anyway so the sound was dead on for me.....
