[/quote] You can plug headphones into the jack output and engage the +10db button - its a perfectly useable headphone out but you don't get the aux in functionality.

I've had an ABM500 evo3 and currently use an ABM600 evo4. Theres quite a difference in sound between them - i couldn't get rid of the whumpy pillowy sound with the evo3 but the newer evo4 is capable of a tighter more precise sound. It also sounds heftier to my ears. The evo4 has more eq points to tweak and a different power amp i believe. You also need to eq with your ears rather than your eyes - i have the top end and high mids cranked up to get some zing back into it. And sometimes run the pre shape engaged and crank a load of mids back into it. When you look at your final eq settings they may look a bit mad but like i said, use your ears.

The Nate Mendel has the B profile neck - not so spindly as a Jazz but definitely narrower (i think 41mm) and thinner than most Precisions - its a geat feeling neck. The Sandberg is a good call too (I have a Nate and a Sandberg PM4 and they are very similar in profile) - it can do a good Precision tone in passive mode.

[/quote] Its a Sony DWZ 30 or something like that. Discontinued now but awesome bit of kit. Yep, just use a transmitter from the bass and take an output straight into the first effect unit. Run the signal thru the pedalboard and one lead from the last pedal into amp. Its the size of a standard effect pedal so goes nicely on the board and runs on either 9v, 12v or batteries. Theres absolutely no delay and I'm electric shock proof too.... Recommended if you can find one - think there was one on here not so long ago.

I found a Pedaltrain Metro 16 with soft case to be a good size for about 4 pedals and a small power supply. The case is a decent one and its being gigged every weekend with no particular wear. Its a bit deeper than the twin rail Pedaltrains so the top jacks get a little protection when in the case or on the floor. I have gone from a MB Fusion 500 to an RB700 and I much prefer the RB. My cabs are BB2'sand I play similar music to you by the looks of it. There was a period when I owned both at the same time so could try both at gigs at the same time - the RB always won in my ears. The RB sounds warmer and fatter imho. There's plenty of volume and bass available on the MB but it can't do the fat thing as well as the RB. And it doesn't have the bowel moving slam of the RB either. You can always hear the MB but you can't always feel it......

I played a couple of others before i bought that one and they didn't sound quite as good as [s]mine [/s]yours :-) The 3 band USA Rays have a built in HPF on the board i believe - thats what makes the crucial booty difference between a 2 and a 3 band. I have a full fat 2 band Ray and it sounds a bit different to the Sub - its a wee bit scoopier and maybe a touch warmer in the low end. Your Sub has more slam to it in my opinion - perhaps the lower mids are a bit more prominent with it. Vey close but quite different when you play them back to back. And the 3 band one i had was way different to either - not as warm and more brittle sounding than the Sub or 2 band. I had the luxury of using all 3 for about a year so became quite familiar with the differences. djaxups post above makes a lot of sense re the cabs you use with a Ray. I have a couple of Barefaced BB2 gen3 cabs and they can throw enough bottom end out to make you sick without breaking a sweat. Consequently the difference between all 3 was quite pronounced. If you use a less extended cab you probably wouldnt notice so much of a difference between the 3 types.

i have an ABM600 EVO IV and its truly a great amp. Loud, chewy and slammy in character once you figure out the eq :-)
