Budget 300/400 quid? You're not far off a used mexican jazz from this site - there's usually a few kicking about. Dont buy new!!!! Get something secondhand from here and if you dont get on with it you can usually flip it without much of a loss (consider it a rental fee if you lose a bit). As you're quite new at the game you may find it takes a few attempts to get something you really settle with

My lot (Yellowhouse) have been together for about 17 years - no original members left though, longest serving member is the singer at 13 years.
Slam... that sort of describes it. Heavy Slam, it sounds a lot better than the EVO III I had, the eq seems more accurate and it's loud through a Barefaced 4x10. I have the pre shape button out, so a bass heavy scoop? Then cut the bass and boost the life out of the mids. It works great with fingers but be careful as the eq is very powerful. Oh, the treble knob doesn't do a great deal. I haven't really had chance to try the drive, not interested in the octaver thing but did use the compressor to smooth things out. I'm impressed. I need a bit more time with the eq and drive though... It's not a Trace Elliot and doesn't sound like one, it sounds like an Ashdown and that's what I need to work with. Go try one, you can than me later...
Exactly my experience........ I find that if you add a bit of valve drive in it seems to bring the treble through a bit more - around 9/10 o'clock on the dial does it for me. Thickens up a bit too but adds a bit of 'clang' too. If you want a tighter more clinical sound leave it off completely.

i just take a spare in case of disasters. Sometimes it gets a run out in the second set if i feel the sound could be better suited to the venue with a zinger/thuddier/fruitier sound after playing the first set. Mostly it doesn't. Don't faff about between songs unless you absolutely have to - as others have said its a groove killer. Sort your sound out before the gig so you're happy with it and dont expect the audience to notice the finer nuances of your tone - they probably won't give a stuff what you sound like as long as you play in tune and in time.

If it doesn't meet the advertised run times you should be able to return it

If you read the description on the gear4music site it doesn't mention isolated at all - just separate outputs i wouldn't bother mentioning it to the makers, nothing will come of it - the product will be a generic Chinese product bought in the thousands on price by Warwick. It hits a pricepoint for them and and i doubt they have much design input. If its not floating your boat just send it back if its within the returns window

Our guitarist has a Patriot. Its pretty (brown tiger stripe top) but doesn't have the welly that his Les Pauls do and consequently doesn't come out often.
This. I bought the MONO for a change, and it is comfy... but, it slips in no time at all. I'm going back to Neotech.
Thats odd, i have a couple of Monos for years and neither of them slip but I've heard a few people say they do...
I messaged him asking for a photo or info on the otherside of the head stock..he has just got back to me with "after further investigation it is a music man bass but it's a sub ray 4 sterling the guy i spoke to got it wrong. So I've relisted it as that sorry for any confusion" new listing here..http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/bass-guitar-/332126170099?hash=item4d54432bf3:g:tb0AAOSwmLlX~Lns
The new one is still a very vague ad for someone who has nearly 1300 past listings on ebay (including a load of bass stuff in so he obviously knows a bit about them) - but hey, what do i care..... And he's still got the original listing up as well ;-) But this is starting to sound like a vendetta from me and it really isnt so i'm outta here now

Nancy Johnsons comment is interesting..... "Relicing, for me, only looks decent on Fender-style basses" Thats true in my opinion but i dont know why??? Other basses just looked knackered when they're a bit beaten up. I wonder what it is that makes it seem ok if it looks like a Fender? I quite like the roadworn look personally - i have a Nate Precision which is mildly "used" looking but feels really nicely worn in and i'm not fussed about taking a lump out of it at a gig. Actually, all my basses have lumps out of them and i purposely avoid new basses because that first ding is so painful. And i've always hankered after a wrecked looking Sandberg.....
It does have the words "Made in Indonesia" pretty easily read in the third picture.
That's only relevant if the potential purchaser knows where Stingrays are made (or not in this case) It just seems like they've purposely avoided showing the obvious things - like the logo on the front of the headstock - hoping someone will make assumptions Oh, and they've called it a a Music Man Stingray (which it isnt).......
-
yep i reported it

I get on well with the Mono Betty straps - not too wide but nicely padded....

Lovely creative listing for a Sterling Sub here - gives the impression its a USA http://www.ebay.co.u...ScAAOSw4CFYoLWk Totally avoided showing any logo's in the pictures and only really identifiable if you knew what the back of a USA Ray headstock and the bridge looks like

Closest sounding strings to Roto66s without going dead in 5 minutes?
Mudpup replied to Painy's topic in Accessories and Misc
I like the Dunlop Super Brights steels, nice feel and they definitely stay zingy longer than most others -
I saw them many years ago on both the Heaven and Hell and also Mob Rules tour. They were really really good then. On top form and with a great singer/frontman in RJD. I have also seen Ozzy's band on about 4 occasions back in his earlier days (Blizzard, Diary etc) The weak link has always been Ozzy for me. As much as he's a national treasure, he's bloody awful live. Cant sing, forgets stuff, away with the fairies sort of behaviour and not just recently either. Spending all night shuffling, mumbling and pacing up and down telling everyone to "go f***in' crazeeee" is not my idea of an entertaining frontman. He relies on having a fab band behind him. If i'm paying that sort of money i expect a level of quality way beyond what they can offer with him as a frontman. Personally i wouldn't want to remember them as they seem to be now......
