1. Might want to take your mobile number off the advert buddy - you'll have all kinds of nutters phoning you (probably some from off this forum too :-)) And good luck with your sale too..
2. Gator ProGo here....
3.
You need to try one. I've found Ashdown have a sound of their own. I'd be interested to hear about the ABM600 and if it's an improvement over the ABM500.
Its a massive improvement/difference (delete as necessary) - i had an ABM500 evo3 and sold it after a few months as it was too "woolly" strangely enough. Couldn't get any top end sizzle or get rid of the pillowy bottom end. Tried a Rootmaster and it was ok but not just didn't have enough about it for me to spring the cash - sales guy then said i should try the ABM600 regardless of my previous experience. Bought it 20 minutes later. It just had so much more slam to it than the Rootmaster and as long as you are happy to do some extreme eq'ing (i.e don't gently tweak some eq points, turn them right up or down - which can seem a bit weird till you get your head round it) you can get some very unAshdowny sounds going on. And it will rearrange your intestines when its cranked up - thats what the Rootmaster didnt seem to have. Set without the preshape it can seem a bit dead but if you run the preshape - which sucks the mids right out and i think is unusable as it is - and cut the bass dial back to about 11o'clock then stuff loads of mids back in with the eq it comes alive. Also push the high end right back up and you can get it nice and zingy. it doesn't respond to subtle very well. I don't use the compressor or sub thing. Run the valve drive below noon to add some Ampeggy flavour or turn it off to sharpen things up a bit.
4. i demo'ed a Rootmaster head last year And bought an ABM600.....
5. Seems to be pretty well received here https://www.amazon.c...ds=caline+power and at the ebay price definitely worth a punt. The worst that can happen is you'll blow yourself up (or perhaps more importantly your pedals)......
6.
Mudpup, how do you mount the sweeping LEDs please? Another tripod?
We picked up a couple of T bar stands like these from ebay- they came with a gantry middle bit which we never use - for £40 http://www.ebay.co.u...725.m3641.l6368 and use these clamps (expensive but worth it) to mount and angle the lights https://www.amazon.c...=chauvet+clp+10 The ADJ Sweeper quads also work pretty well in small gigs if you plonk one on the floor in front of the kick drum and point it skywards
7. We've invested in 2 types of lights and a hazer recently and found its raised everything up a level - we're getting more and better gigs because we're putting on a better show for the customers. The hazer has made a huge difference - best bit of kit imho This ADJ VBar Pak is great value - 2 x LED bar lights, DMX, auto programs, master/slave and remote control and tiny too. We use them on the floor at stage front. https://www.gak.co.u...CFVQ_Gwod3esJyA The other ones are a pair of ADJ Sweeper Beam Quads which are a chunk more expensive (although we picked them up as refurbs from Whybuynew for a great price) but are really effective. We put them at the back corners angled in a bit. They go a bit mad on sound active but left on auto are good. https://www.thomann....am_quad_led.htm The pictures below show it off quite well - just a couple of smallish pub gigs but looks much bigger
8. I have owned both and now have 2 Stingrays. Really wanted to love the Spector as it was a significant birthday prezzie from the missus - kept it for 3 years but never really fell for it. I couldn't quite get on with the neck feeling so way out left and it didn't quite have the sound i was looking for. I was looking for zingy meaty grunt and it was a bit too sterile for me. Bought a US MM Sub and it sold me on Stingrays.......i now have 2 and its killed my GAS
9. Finally grabbed some video with a half decent sound (if you listen on headphones). I'm pretty pleased with the bass sound. Just shot on a GoPro clamped to a pole so not great angles although the second clip has a crowd filmed section at 4.12 (ps how do i get the you tube video to show here rather than the link please?) http://www.youtube....h?v=snQvV5Sgw-Y https://youtu.be/5v-Rp_BWf5A
10. the shop has to charge vat as well remember......
11.
2nd hand zoom ms60b. Same price range as a brand new dedicated pedal... the tuning works perfect and it has the added bonus of a million other pedal combinations in a boss sized pedal. Great space saving invention of all time!
THIS :-)
12.
I'm not entirely sure about this. Generally the air flow technology is designed to permit multiple amplifier racking without spaces between. Normally, amps draw fresh air in the front and exhaust hot air out the sides or the rear. If vented panels are fitted between the amplifiers, then pre-heated air inside the rack will re-cycle through the front. If you feel more comfortable with spaces between amps then use solid panels - not vented ones. If you are running into an overheating problem then vent the hot air OUT of the rack at the rear.
Nobody's talking about multiple amps in a bag here........just what is a decent bag to put an amp in. One amp, a rack bag, a bit of room for air to circulate by buying an extra unit one - either stick a panel in or leave it open. Job done, never had an overheating problem in 5 years. Both my amps (in separate cases) blow air out of the front - not the back :-)
13. I use the Gator bags, they're very good. Just buy one with an extra unit and stick a vented blank panel above your amp.
14. Douglas bought some strings from me All smooth and chilled Cheers!
15. All elixirs now sold....... Still got the individual B strings from the other brands though - happy to entertain offers via PM
16.
It renders perfectly fine on apple devices. To be fair, it does look a bit thrown together in a hurry. It's a bit dull, however, it is informative. The english could do with a bit of a polish too. If this is intended to promote the band it requires more work imo, especially to make it stand out.
Yup done on a Mac in 75 minutes having never done anything like this before so it's a learning curve thing. Dull? Or clean? We wanted clean English? Anything in particular? Couldn't see any typos personally or is it just the tone? Thx muchly
17.
Very quickly, without reading the comments above: Homepage - get a head and shoulders shot of the band, or a wide shot that shows you fully. Other pages - the text looks like it is breaking up - except on your gigs page, which is fine. Use that font and size throughout. Gallery page - try to avoid photos with mics in front of the band's faces. The image on the contact page isn't showing. You're welcome to critique my band's site in return! www.wizdomband.co.uk
I don't think I'm in a position to comment on your site due to my inexperience but it looks kinda dark for my taste. And don't you get all the weirdos phoning the mobile number? The guys in the band like the arty knees home page photo, perhaps it prompts people to go to the gallery page? The font thing seems like an issue with different browsers/systems - to be looked in to... Gallery page, trying to show the lights off a bit and the media is limited at the moment. There isn't an image on the contact page
18.
It's very easy to obsess over these things. IMO the website should be very simple introduction to the band to give you a web presence and an easy Google way to get followers to Facebook. A band Facebook page is the way to manage all your dynamic content.
Exactly what we want - its a quick brochure really. Dont want to be having to modify it all the time, its just something to ping over to someone who has expressed some interest in us for some reason and doesn't want to delve through the litter on the faceache site The face ache page is where all the daily stuff goes
19. All useful and valid, thanks v much the font - i think that may be an incompatibility perhaps or personal dislike, looks perfect on my macbook, hudl and iPhone (although the tabs appear as a washed out drop down box on the smaller devices - i'll have to fix that somehow) and the band guys like it images - we wanted a very clean looking site, theres images all over our Facebook and lemon rock stuff. Happy with them on the gallery page really, everything in one place if people want to see what we look like. The home page banner is upscaled and a bit fuzzy, agreed. Did the typography thing - good spot, it looks better now ta Icons on contact page - again i agree but haven't figured out how to do it yet (but it is my first ever attempt at anything like this so go easy on me :-) our ellipsis is now reduced to just 3 dots too - i got carried away with those too many pics of geetardist/singer - we all look like mongs most of the time on stage, he tends to photo up better 80's 90's against 80s 90s - yup, dictated by the font unfortunately, probably going to stick with that. Sorted out the capitalisation though, good spot and thanks... and media tab is work in progress - gonna delete it until we are ready to load it on songs chosen to be different and then listing sex on fire and summer of 69 - we offset that by stating that there are some classics in there. And those particular ones are part of a whole different post - my view is if they wanna hear them, we'll play them. We're paid to get people singing and dancing and rebooks come from playing what people want to hear. They're actually not in the set list most of the time, just there if we need them - we have plenty of others that do the same job. Blue - good idea to put the next gig on the front page. We always have it as a pinned post on our Facebook but it wouldn't hurt on the site as well. All good and constructive stuff guys, thanks for your time and efforts :-)
20.
Go daddy do some good hosting options for first timers, you generally have to pay for the year upfront, but then the following years are like double triple the original price. I actually know a web designer who does an all in one package for hosting/design. I can give you his details if you like.
Cheers for the offer joey - we have a dep guitar who does that sort of thing so we'll probably use him
21.
Two things stood out for me immediately - decapitated home page photo and the menu button is indistinct. Viewing on 7" tablet. Also from a personal taste pov I would get rid of most of the about band CV speak and move what's left into a single paragraph on the home page. The contact us links should have the text as 'email', 'facebook', 'web' etc rather than the Uri text.
The text 'about the band' is to give any potential bookers a better idea of what we can offer them thats different to other bands on the circuit. I didn't want to clutter the front page ideally. And yes, good point about the link titles, cheers :-)
22.
Hey nice and simple website, I would say not to use free hosting though (IMO url looks amateur). The site looks clean though, I would possibly suggest linking your videos to the relevant songs in the song lists. So people can click a song and go right to you playing. Also might be worth having some customer reviews (i.e landlords ---Just make them up if needs be). I think the about the band soul have a picture and small bio for each member.
Yeah i know what you mean about the url - we'll look into proper hosting. Linking the video is a great idea - i wouldn't have thought of that.
23. hmnnn....i did it on a macbook and the menu looks fine on that. I'll have to check it out on a tablet. and the decapitated piccy was deliberate - we're very ugly so i thought the lights and knees would show us at our best :-)
