I have a set of the nickels in 45/105 gauge. Popped them on the Musicman Sterling and took them off after one evening. Don't like them at all, sorry. They sound too blunt for my zingy taste. They're on the classifieds if anyone wants a cheap set.....

Used for one evening at home only for about 90minutes so effectively brand new. Don't float my boat so up for sale. Cut for a USA Musicman Sterling so a 3+1 headstock and will also suit a 2+2. Won't fit a Fender Precision type though. Sorry I don't have the original packaging anymore so they will be sent in a Dunlop Super Bright box. £17 posted to the UK. Or you can collect from Herts/Essex border if you prefer and I'll supply tea and biscuits. Thanks for looking.

Off The Beaten Track Covers That Go Down Well
Have you heard the Show Of Hands version? It's gorgeous.
Agreed, thats a lovely version of a great song. Just goes to show, its the quality of the song that shines through when you can play it in so many styles and it still sounds great. -

3rd song in on the second set is the trigger song - if anyones not dancing/singing already they will be with this one.......... Boys Of Summer - The Ataris version though. Simple and efficient. https://youtu.be/Qt6Lkgs0kiU Oh and we do Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls too - usually see a dozen punters raising a knowing eye to that one too. Class D definitely lacks slam in my experience. I swapped out a Genz Shuttle 9.2 head for a Gallien GT700RB and you can feel the GK rumble in your guts - the Genz couldnt generate that. I have the 700 in a rack along with a GK MBFusion so can compare both really easily at gig volume and the class D still doesnt have the depth and slam that the 700 has.

I thought the Prodigy were awesome - fantastic in your face set and great lightshow. The whole place was rocking. And I don't really like dance music much........ And re Noel - Mancs trying to be grumpy and sarcy just irritate me. Seen it all before many times. Sorry, not being Mancist

I have had a....... Zoom B9.1 - bought because it was being cleared out for £99 by a shop. Loads of fiddling fun but ultimately too bloody big, heavy and complex for what i wanted it for (a bit of compression, modulation and home practice). Zoom B1on - fantastic value and brill for home practice. Ok on stage if you dont need too many different patches. Plastic but feels pretty sturdy. Hard to see the display on stage. Zoom MS60B - awesome little box that lives on my pedalboard and provides everything i need in my covers band. The compressors and modulations are great, i dont use the distortions and the way you can set it up to add patches in to different songs is good. Easy to see the display on stage. You can combine 4 effects for each patch. You can just use a single effect/patch and switch it in using the footswitch or you can advance through patches A, B, C etc by a single press on the switch. I set A up as bypassed, B as a chorus, C as bypass, D as SVT sim, E as bypass, F as Dbx compressor and just press once as i go thru the set when i come to a song that needs an effect. Iist - you get the idea. Recommended bit of kit and small too. You can usually pick them up for about 50 quid from this site.
Cool - so everyone who already has one loves it, and those who used to have one would have it back (if time and/or space allowed). Some measure of the esteem in which these cabs are held!
Just continuing a theme here.......... I had one, sold it to Discreet, and would love it back if space at Pup Mansions was not at a premium......
My word, Florence is having a duff night. We've got the radio on, and she keeps being horribly, painfully flat and then screeching unbearably in between songs.
I thought most of her songs were supposed to sound like that. Some hippie bird wailing on about summat' And Motorhead.......just sad to see really. Saw them on the Bomber tour at the Hammy Odeon and it was a stunning gig. Time to knock it on the head i think.

I'll check it out ta....

I stupidly lost my Wavelab 7 disc and have bought a new laptop which i need to install a similar program on. It'll be used mainly for editing gig recordings made on my Olympus LS14 pocket recorder - normalising, fading and separating tracks etc.... Also converting between WAV, MP3 and WMA files probably. Any suggestions for anything simple to use and cheap (read FREE actually!)?

Lord Haig in Hertford, anyone played there recently?

Well, that worked out ok in the end...... As Gary Mac said above, great crowd up and dancing from the first song, owners brilliant and supportive and no problems with the limiter. We kept the volume down on the bass, angled the PA away from the limiter and soundchecked a song that has loads of "G" in it. I dont understand how a particular note can push the limiter but the drummer going ape with double bass drum endings doesnt?????? We were watching the meter and it seemed purely G on the bass that could have been a potential issue. We had a great night, loads of friendly punters having a chat afterwards and plenty of rebooks for next year out of it - they wanted us back this year but our diary is full. Thanks for all the useful info chaps... -
Stuart just bought my Zoom H2N All as easy as it could possibly be!!!!! Recommended..... Cheers Jon

Daft question - Is sterling sub the same as music man sub?
Mudpup replied to Dropzone's topic in General Discussion
There aren't any USA SUB for sale in the shops (I like to try before I buy), and I liked the neck and body shape of the sterling SUB much better than the other variants available in the shop (sterling ray34 and stingray).
You're unlikely to find one in a shop, they were discontinued years ago. If you can try a USA Stingray (with a 2 band eq, not 3 band...) you will get a good idea of what a USA SUB will sound like and the size of the neck. The only difference is a SUB has a painted neck, slab body and textured finish. The hardware and electrics are the same. And it's built like a tank (great for rowdy bar gigs ☺). The best way to get one is from this site and flip it if you don't get on with it. They pop up for between £350/450 reasonably frequently and you'll sell it for the same all day long if its in half decent nick and its not tinkered with. And if you're down near the sunny South East you're welcome to have a play on mine....... -
Daft question - Is sterling sub the same as music man sub?
Mudpup replied to Dropzone's topic in General Discussion
I bought a walnut Sterling SUB ray4, like most people I found the preamp and pickups a little too hot and harsh, so I modded mine with a GFS pickup and a retrovibe stinger preamp. For less than £100 my bass now sounds vastly better than it used to.
The thing with doing that is you've spent pretty much the same as it would have cost to get a USA SUB in the first place...... -
Daft question - Is sterling sub the same as music man sub?
Mudpup replied to Dropzone's topic in General Discussion
Sterling isnt the same company as Musicman. They have just licensed the name i believe. The cheap Subs are good for a budget bass but have a really hot preamp that most seem to find tiresome after the honeymoon period. If you can save up another 150 or 200 quid for a USA SUB you have a full fat Stingray effectively - I have one and still cant believe how good it is. It will be easy to sell on if you dont get on with it too. -

Lord Haig in Hertford, anyone played there recently?
Mudpup replied to Mudpup's topic in General Discussion
Thanks guys, that's all good info........ -
We're booked to play the above venue in a few weeks and we just received a text from them asking if we can do a lighter sounding set as they have just looked at our Lemonrock site and think we may be a bit 'heavy'. And they have a noise limiter........ Now, we're not heavy in my view and its easy enough to do a poppier set to suit them without any problem. Its the noise limiter that bothers me. We have played venues with them before and the singer has triggered them on his own! Does anyone have any experience of how the one at this venue is set? Can a rock band play there or is it best suited to quiet pop covers bands?

I played in a band that supported them about 30 years ago Really nice blokes and Rat even bought us a crate of beer for backstage
