I've got the 4 string version. Probably one of the best basses I've ever had and it's an undiscovered gem generally. (It's seen off Spectors, Warwicks and Stingrays in the last few years)
-
You could just get a female/male short cable and plug the transmitter into that
-
This is one of the finest lines I've ever seen on Basschat!

Similar to me.....been playing for donkeys years on 4 strings and currently doing about 40+ gigs a year in a covers band. I use a detuner on a few songs and thought a 5er might work a bit better a few years back. Traded for one on here, tried to get my head around it for about a month, did a gig with it. Lasted about 6 songs and i had to switch back. Sold it.... Fast forward to a couple of months ago and I inadvertently tried a 5er in a music store. It was actually a £1500 fan fret headless 5er. Loved it and actually found it a lot easier to play than my previous attempt a few years back. I don't really know why but i can only think that it was SO different to my previous one that my brain was treating it as a different instrument rather than trying to adjust to something sort of familiar. So I now have a lower spec used version of the same bass bought from Basschat for a third of the cost of a new one residing in the rack. It's a no pressure situation and I'm treating it as a project over the next few months and having a noodle when i feel like it. I'm not rushing into any gigs with it. If i get on with it confidently I'll introduce it into the band or i can just have some fun at home. Or flip it of course.

Is it a bar in/near Brentwood, Essex by any chance? I really wouldn't bother - you're building your confidence by the sounds of things and this won't help at all if no one shows up. I don't think you can even treat it as a paid rehearsal either. Mainly on the basis that if 5 people do actually come through the door and drink £100 of beer they're going to be expecting to see some sort of band performance and not a practice. You'll be expected to treat it as a proper gig by the management or you definitely won't be getting paid at all. Plainly and simply, if any of you don't think it's worthwhile for any reason just don't do it. It can be because it doesn't pay enough for you, has a dodgy crowd/management, sound limiters, bad load in/out or anything like that. It's supposed to be fun unless it's your primary source of income.

The ones I'm talking about aren't sold by Amazon. They're on the Amazon site but from a 3rd party and not from the Amazon warehouse. Mrs Pup got conned last year buying some perfume from what looked like a legit seller and it turned out to be fake.
-
The £16 heavy gauge NYXL strings on Amazon all seem to be sold from stores full of hair straighteners and various other popular counterfeit items. Check the storefronts before you spend money....I'm suspicious and sure they're going to be fakes

I had the bass combo version of this back in the 80's (think it was a GA140 or something like that). It was great as you said - really clear and punchy
-
By me 😁😁😁 And very lovely they are too
-
Oddly enough I actually meant the small furry rubbish collecting critters. It's a ritual there.
-
That's one of our regular gigs and probably one of our faves. Lovely crowd there - you know you've cracked them when they get the Wombles out of the bag and start waving them at you. Have a good one!

We (Yellowhouse) are at The Broomhall Hutt in Sunningdale on Saturday night. Due to having a badly broken singist we have had to borrow one for the evening and I'm really looking forward to it. She's got a few more booked with us over the next couple of months too. Here's her regular band....

I had the black version of that back in the mid 80's. Great bass. Probably good value at that price and I doubt it would depreciate. Worth a go if you have a spare £300

Bought a couple of microphones from S'manth at the SE Bass Bash today. Great to have a chat as well. All good!

I've got the same setup - Mesa BB750 lead sled on top of a couple of Barefaced Big Baby cabs. Not an issue at all...

I've secured a day pass from the boss so should be attending. I say 'should' as I'm gigging just up the road in Frimley tonight, live over on the opposite side of the M25 and may struggle to chisel my butt out of bed tomorrow morning to go all the way back again. Might just keep driving in circles around the M25 for a few days for fun....

I seem to remember there were lanyards last year
-
You have better eyesight than me to spot that on there! Good luck and hope you like it
-
If it's in stock at the distributor rather than on the floor in the shop you should be able to get any Ibanez dealer to get it in for you if you would prefer to go elsewhere.
-
I spoke to Guitar Guitar about exactly that bass last week. Apparently there are 2 in group stock at the Ibanez distributor in the UK. They wanted a 10% deposit to order one in for me to try it.....It's better to buy it online, try it at home and use distance selling regs if it isn't for you
-
I couldn't see the fret markers due to the dark roasted neck either - and this is my sticker job 🙂
-
Picked up a strap from Hutton. Dead easy and arrived quickly. Recommended.....

Recommend a modern lightweight amp for vintage tone
Mudpup replied to ossyrocks's topic in Amps and Cabs
There are a couple of Genz Benz Streamliners in the classifieds here for an absolute steal. I would grab one of those. -
I've already bought its replacement I'm afraid so trades are out of the window unless it's an Ibanez EHB of some description. I need to get some cash back in the toy fund ideally. And I must admit now I know more about its history I'm inclined to keep it until prices recover to what I think it's worth. Maybe I'll try and sell my Mesa BB750 amp instead ...
