Gigging every weekend and lucky to get 3 gigs and a rehearsal out of a set of most steel rounds. I must have acidic sweat or summat and as soon as they start to dull they have to go. However, i have recently discovered a new brand that stays lovely and zingy much longer than usual so have switched all my basses in to those. Getting about 5 gigs out of them it seems. Happy days.

Just grabbed this little monster a few days ago. Been fighting off Stingray gas for a few weeks and popped into a nearby music store to try one out. This was hanging up so I thought I would give it a go.......blimey, I couldn't tell the difference from a full on new Stingray Classic with my ears and the Sterling Ray34 didnt even come close soundwise. The 3 band Stingray didn't float my boat as much as the 2 band SUB. Couple of little dings but in overall great condition. Got a black scratchplate incoming to get rid of the alloy thing. The finish is growing on me in a no nonsense ok to whack a p***head in a pub with it kind of way. Its a really early one from May 2003 which apparently has the original Ray 2 band preamp and pickups in it.
My BB2 arrived yesterday and finally this afternoon I have given it a go, its so light I can throw it up in the air and catch it repeatedly until i get bored of the game. The amount of Bass that comes from the cab is unbelievable ! the joist's in my house have been singing and dancing !!! Its early days for me but the tweeter knob is a great addition too. This is my 2nd Barefaced cab and if I had the cash I would buy another.
It'll loosen up a bit too.......

I have a stack of 2 BB2 cabs and don't find them particularly middy either. You do have to re eq though and also stand some feet away when you do it - I did a gig last week where i thought i was missing some slam onstage but according to a punter at half time he could feel his intestines moving at the back of the room. And the diallable HF horn will give you all the sizzle you need without getting all spiky and horrible.

SOLD.... EMG 3 band preamp Installed in my Spector Euro for 18 months and have now popped the original Tonepump back in it so this is surplus to read. A guitar tech did the swap as I am clueless with this sort of thing. Original knobs, box and instructions included along with 18v battery thingy. Fits a 4 knob bass - volume, blend, bass/treble, mid, freq controls. Currently £103 at Thomanns - I thought £50 plus postage (or free tea with collection) was about right? http://www.thomann.de/gb/emg_bqc_system_3band_eq.htm Pics to follow when Photo bucket has sorted itself out

Here's the better pictures...... And I've dropped the price to £375 as I think I have priced it a bit high initially and can't change it in the thread. Always willing to discuss options too ☺

Now Sold I've been a naughty boy and gone and bought a Musicman so my strict 'one in, one out' policy has kicked in For Sale - £425 inc case. Now dropped to £375...... (Poss interest in a Gallien 700RB amp head as a trade) Fender Blacktop Jazz Bass in pretty much mint condition. Nno scratches, buckle rash, dings or dents. Made in Mexico and a Jazz body and neck with twin Precision pickups and a VVT control arrangement. Its a grunty zingy monster of a bass with a beautiful slim easy playing neck. Black with rosewood neck and I have applied decent pearl block inlays on the fretboard. I think it improves the look and they'll come off cleanly if required. The paintwork and chrome is immaculate, there is tiniest trace of a thumbwear by the rear pickup which will polish out if you need to and some very faint pick swirls on the pickguard. Its all too small to get a photo of though. It has a Hipshot Detuner fitted at present and comes with the original tuner. New stainless roundwounds just fitted. Comes with a Rockcase rigid foam case in gigged condition but completely serviceable. (Cost £560 for the bass and £75 for the Hipshot almost exactly 2 years ago from Wunjos.) Prefer collection from near Stansted Airport/Essex/Herts area but could poss deliver same area and Central/North/East/SE London,Kent or maybe Surrey by arrangement. Could potentially courier it but not overly keen to at the moment...... Pics to follow......
I've had a pretty good experience with them, all of us in my band use them and not had a problem!
Bought two - neither lasted more than 3 months....... Only decent named lead that I've ever had go bad on me in 30 years. -
I use a couple of TGI Extremes and they seem pretty good for a 40 quid bag. The newer black and grey ones seem better than the old ones with blue piping.

Great stuff! Not as hard as it seems is it once you're up there....

Mine makes quite a difference playing solo. Try putting an ipod thru it if you can - turn the tweeter dial up to the max and then back it off to hear the change. If i back it off a quarter turn there is a big drop in high end. That'll confirm if its working ok.
