Hiscox Liteflite bass case for sale Condition 8/10 The little pocket flap bit inside is unstuck - still works fine but cosmetically needs a bit of glue if you could be bothered (i couldnt) and the fittings are beginning to dull a little. All perfectly serviceable though. Doesnt include chunk of wood and metal in the piccy. May p/ex for decent gig bag or a Sansamp thingy Collection only from Stansted Airport/Harlow/Bishops Stortford area £50

I wish it was me........ And i agree about the slapping too - no need for it (as is usually the case) and spoils the first part but i like the feel of the earlier section

Don't think a Streamliner will do the upper mid twangy thing too well. Try a Gallien MB Fusion
The volume is a bit strange on the LH500, possibly made all the stranger by the lack of "gain" control. Between 0 and about 5 it has a nice, linear increase, giving plenty of control for low-volume work. Then, suddenly, between 5 and 6 the volume seems to increase exponentially! Not a problem for home use as you will be nowhere near 5 (even with an 8 ohm cab)... but be very careful if you are rehearsing at "proper" volume or playing a gig. A seemingly small tweak on the volume control can give a massive increase in output!!
And flattish response is with the mid right up with bass and treble on about 2. It'll seem quiet if you do the "everything at midday" thing - the mids give it the poke. Theres an LH1000 on the classifieds at the moment - you can always turn it down. You dont need to cook the valves to get the sound going.

I recently bought a £600 cab from a BC'er in Holland who had zero feedback on the site but good ebay feedback. He was happy to accept a £50 deposit and the balance when i had received the cab. I guess my history on this site and ebay reassured him enough to trust me. All sorted easily even though the final money transfer (through Transferwise) got delayed a few days because of merchant system issue - we kept in touch and both monitored what was happening.

I reckon you'll need at least 300 (modern) watts to keep up with a noisy drummer. A single 12 speaker wont be enough - you may get away with a 15 though. Buy 2nd hand from this site if you can - plenty of bargains about and you can pass it on if you find it doesn't suit you after a few plays with minimal devaluation - consider it a rental fee. Those Markbass amps get a lot of love on here and would be easier to move on if required. I would also look at a Hartke LH500 head. Heres a few to get you started in no particular order - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/235245-hartke-lh500-hartke-hydrive-410/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/237130-genz-benz-focus-4x10/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/236819-ashdown-abm500h-rig-l325/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/233754-markbass-cmd-102p-price-drop-possible-trade/page__fromsearch__1 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/237155-hartke-lh1000-as-new-with-warwick-rackbag-now-l275/page__fromsearch__1 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/231695-tecamp-puma-212-500-combo-for-sale-can-ship-if-required/
I would just like to say that although I have never bought a Barefaced cab and I may not do in the future either , I respect Alex for what he has done so far and continues to do with updates and new products etc. It's a shame Alex feels he doesn't want to contribute to threads on here because of all the reasons already stated because he always comes across as a well imformed and very helpful guy. In the past I have emailed him about his cabs and he was always very helpful with his replies. Whether people like his cabs or not we should be giving support to a British designer and builder instead of bashing him down. So come on Alex , come and join in , we won't bite......honest !!
He used to post on here but I believe a few people just kept having a pop/grinding the same old axes and he gave up wasting his time on here. Forums are unfair places a lot of the time - the masses can say whatever they like in general but if you are trying to run a business then your hands are somewhat tied with the way you can respond. As mentioned, he always pops up on the transatlantic site when someone has a query or issue and seems happy to discuss publicly - he doesn't get drawn into the bunfight this site always ends up in. His time is better spent building cabs anyway I reckon............
Oh c'mon. He's put a 8 and a 4 Ohm driver in series and is going to mutter some technobabble about different impedance curves and frequency curves. No special drivers about it.
Pops the kettle on, opens the biscuits and settles down in the comfy sofa......................................
I went in my nearest shop for the first (and last) time about a year ago. I was after some flats or tapewounds and they didn't carry any. I asked about ordering some to try on the Bex4 I just got and what he thought would sound good, flats or tapes, he said they would all make it sound old and dead and not to bother, so I didn't, bother ordering anything from him, got some Fender nylon tapes from whoever was cheapest on the net. From point of view is, if you don't want to help or compete then don't grumble when you have no customers. On the flipside I went in a shop in Plymouth, can't remember the name, and they had a very good selection of strings, round, flat, nylon, etc. Will be using them again. Edit to add the name of the good shop - Sound Unlimited
Looks like your local did try to help you didnt he? You asked his opinion, he gave it. Whats the problem? Not his fault you disagree is it? And for my taste, tapes or flats do make a bass sound dead so he was bang on. Wont be long before no one can ask an opinion face to face if everyone is buying and researching on the web. The shops will be gone and all advice will be from people who spend too much time on forums (like myself) who only have eperience of gear they own themselves. This probably sounds a bit of a spiky post but its not intended to offend btw
