I want a low A. The Cab is still functioning perfectly fine and there is no percieved drop in performance or tone. I am pushing the Jeff Berlin combo to it's max. The sound is very good and I want amazing and more volume available should I need it. I bought the S12 to complement the compact and a PF500, but they can't work together so am trying a GK2001rb. I know a bass player who swears by the GK head and knows everything about it so I will get him around to help me out. Have heard him play and he cuts through as clean as a whistle so should be plenty of tonal goodness.
I may be wrong but isn't that a 4ohm S12 and an 8ohm compact? Are you sure your amp will be happy with that? It all sounds a bit unbalanced to me if I am correct. The Super 12 will be taking a load more output than the Compact and the Compact is doing the harder work too. Probably best to give Alex a shout just in case. And a PF500 doesn't have the finest reliability rating when you need to push it - loads of failure issues recently with them. Be careful.
Hmmmm..... I just wish I could try one out! Despite the rave reviews, I still find it hard to believe that a single 12" could give me the sort of sound I'm used to! Although I really want to believe that it could so that I can have a smaller rig. I reckon a Shuttle 9.2 would drive a BB2 pretty well
I have that exact head/cab combo and it does. Welcome to come over for a blast.

I have the Mono on both basses. Love 'em. They feel bombproof and are so comfy. Agree about the length thing though. I tried both lengths and settled on running the long strap at its shortest ish. The short strap at its longest wasnt right. They should just do one version thats inbetween. Suggest you buy online so you can try one for a week before you decide.

A location would probably help
When ordering from small companies, you will expect that they can't handle last minute hiccups very easily or effectively.. But I would expect a custom bass to take a year to make .... as that is the quoted finish time when ordering, but I couldn't accept half that time for a cab..... If someone said 6 months to deliver a cab, then the buyer needs to know that and reconcile whether they will wait that long. But if you put yourself in that position, you better not be needing that kit.
How many basses a week does that custom builder make do you think? Probably not even one. Compared to how many cabs are going out of the door every week. Apples and oranges imho. And this thread is degenerating into a mutation of loads of other similar ones re Barefaced wait times.......... Order the cab, expect to wait a bit longer than you think and then enjoy it when you get it. Buy it on that basis and theres no problem.

I think they may make them in batch runs so its pretty easy to trigger a delay by switching models rather than tweaking the spec on the same cab. I popped in to collect my BB2 and they were up their ears with preorders. There is a wall of orders waiting completion and the guys were flat out. Factor in the massive interest in the Gen 3 stuff........... It'll be worth the wait.
HI Mudpup, how does the Barefaced compare to the GK ? ( volume, dispersion and sound ) Thanks
The BF is phatter, rounder, smoother, bigger sounding. HF unit sound very nice. The GK is more boxy and middy. The HF unit is pretty raspy and hard to get sounding good. Remember it was half the price of the BF though. The GK sound louder but not in a good way compared to the BF - its shoutier and very coloured. Whole different sound

Barefaced Big Baby 2 or Super Compact question.....
Mudpup replied to chris_b's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have a BB2 but last few gigs this year are in Thanet and Aylesbury. Will be near Guildford and also in Chertsey in January though. If you can be bothered, youre welcome to pop over my way and book a couple of hours in a local studio to scrounge it and turn it up a bit (or you can come round mudpup mansions and hear it in the front room) -
Paramore in general.
Afaik the covers are made in Batley, West Yorkshire.
By Mexicans I shall now graciously retire to monitor this thread from a distance before I get carried away with any more Mexican malarkeyism
You are of course correct.... My main niggle is the position of the handles... who's idea was that? a single one at the back of the top would have made it much easier to wheel around and one half way up each side would have made it easier to carry.
Probably some Mexicans idea But don't knock it - remember they invented burritos too
I can see your point. Yes, we got it for £380, but it is an £800 cab. And at that price point (as people regularly say about BareFaced cabs) you have a right to expect a top quality fit and finish.
If it stated in the advert that it was a Mexican cab I am pretty sure 95% of the guys here would have still bought it and considered it a bargain. Which it is. An absolutely stonking cab for the price of a mid/higher end Chinese/Asian one. Its all about the QC really, not the nationality of the guy/lady/child that screwed it together. If the QC stands up, its irrelevant where it was made. IMHO of course.
mmm, a bit annoyed to say the least about origin of manufacture. If some peeps have got cabs made in the USA that seem to be of a better quality I might send this one back tbh , even if it is cheap for what it is!
MIM - Made in Mexico by Mexicans MIA - Made in America by Mexicans (Classic line from Talkbass that says it all) Look at what you got for the money - cant see anything to be miffed about tbh! Other people have paid hundreds more for the same product fairly recently. They are the ones who have a right to be a bit grumpy. Not trying to be confrontational here - just a bit objective, £380 for an amazing cab, be happy :-)
