My main baby now (Warwick Rockbass Vampyre) My modded Dean Metalman.

Also there does seem to be a slight twist in the headstock backwards to the treble side relative to the body but I think judging by the cut for the nut this has always been there.

I picked up cheap carcas of a set neck Chinese bass (of the variety that makes Mr Hall very unhappy). Bought it in full knowledge of the neck being shot. The question is what is the best way (aside from a bonfire) to try to sort this? The truss rod nut is pretty stripped so I really need to take the fretboard off if I replace it - do I look at planning the neck, try fixing with heat, plane the fingerboard (I hate doing fret replacement!)throw money at it by taking it to a pro luthier (its more of a project for me). For clarity when I managed to get the truss rod to work the bass side straightened (it had been tightened into a horrific back bow) but the hump remained on the treble side. I have done some minor luthier stuff before (replace frets, replace trussrod) on other instruments though I am by no means an expert. The bass was cheap so I don't want to throw money at it at this point in time.

Based on that we should just rip up the Trade descriptions act.. If you buy a bass from Thomann direct that is a Deko you are rolling the dice that is is useable. You are buying it with a disclaimer that it is sold "For decorative purpose only". If it happens to have a very minor fault and you have the knack to fix it then you are lucky and got a cheap instrument cheaper. HOWEVER. If you buy a bass on Ebay that is being sold as new, that the seller has bought fully aware that it is a Deko model, and the seller lies through their teeth about it (You have to search for Deko, and it clearly states in big letters small words that they are for decoration only) then they are behaving fraudlently. You are buying what you expect to be a new bass 100% fit for purpose. Simple as that.

Messaged the seller playing dumb asking about the "D" below the neckplate - he claims they are "Discontinued Stock". So he knows what he is selling. Has a lot of Deko guitars for sale.

Prefer the form factor of the MS60 B and the fact they have metal cases but for half the price.. plus with the MS60 you can only advance patches with the switch not go back and forth as needed. Same sound quality though.

Looks like the generic case you can pick up from Flightcase Warehouse. Maybe the original supplier was just casing basses not necessarily with fender cases.

I use the Guitar version (G1on) for the fake guitar part of my signal - sits happily after my Switchblade Plus and POG. Lot of good things for not much cash

A Dark Hollow is the best place for it. Covered in wood chips. And Petrol. Lots of Petrol.

So is someone trying to set up the Fenderstapo to compete with the Rickenwaffen? Someone selling a replica Fender using Fender Licenced parts... you know.. LICENCED... by FENDER... Fetch the pitchforks and start a bonfire...

Always fancied the Omen range - almost pulled the trigger on one but opted for my Vampyre instead.

Going for 3 - Layla (Dereck and the Dominos) - You can feel the pain in each note when Clapton lets rip. Midge Ure is a VERY underated guitarist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydywCOCr46k Finally a hip hop record of sorts - Bomb the Bass - Dont Make Me Wait. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_42p66WeM0

My Washburn XS-4. Its a dog, has been modified, resprayed badly several times, original pre-amp replaced, original PJ pickups removed then reinstalled, recently fitted a Hipshot D Tuner and a new set of Wasburn Branded Gotohs to it. I bought it new in 92/93 from Musical Exchanges in Coventry. It is the bass that playing in a National competition dressed all in white I ripped my nail off half way through the set and didnt notice till the end of the song when the strings were getting "Sticky" that the bass and my white T Shirt/Jeans resembled a murder scene. I finished the set THEN the pain hit. My DNA is literally in the wood. Basses have come and gone but this one stays. They only made them for 2 years - Its not worth much (even pristine) or sought after BUT it is relatively light for an Alder body, the neck is so playable and I just cant part with it (Even though my main is now a Warwick Vampyre which I love to bits).

Im Currently part of a no guitarist band in forming. Well the singer is a very good guitarist but we are using him sparingly as he wants to concentrate on singing, which means I have had to go all "Royal Blood"esque and for the first time own a pedal board that is more than just for tinkering. Scary for me (Im more of a Geezer ButlerBill Wyman than a Flea) so it puts more pressure on me as Im basically carrying the tunes (but then I wrote them so I know them better than anyone). We were originally going to go for the traditional two guitars/bass/drums but were struggling to find a suitable guitarist who wasn't a prima donna.

First bass was a Vox White Shadow in black. Bloody horrible thing. Got shot after 6 months and upgraded (yes it was an upgrade) to a Marlin Sidewinder. First NEW bass was a Washburn XS-4 bought new from Musical Exchanges in Coventry. I still own it though its been messed with extensively.

I don't get the whole putting a Fender decal on a non Fender bass thing
Nibody replied to nash's topic in General Discussion
Ive always wanted a YOB (1971) bass OR a 76 (to replace one I had to sell) - But the chances of me having the money to buy a 71 Precision is slim to none (Im a carer for my disabled daughter). I've owned Fenders ( The aforementioned 76, MIJ Photoflame, 1997 MIM, and a 2012 FSR) So I decided to build a replica for my pleasure. In my case - my Precision is a bitser. It has: Fender Body Fender Tuners Fender Pickups Fender Thumb rest Fender Bridge Fender String Tree Fender Pick Guard Licensed by Fender Allparts Neck CTS Pots (with fender knobs) Switchcraft socket Sprague Orange Drop Capacitor Cloth Wiring to match that on the pickups. And a Fender neck-plate with an insider joke serial number on it (301306) which would be a 1971, 13/06 being my birthday. With the exception of the Allparts neck (which is licensed by Fender) other than the fact I put it together from parts rather than a guy in a fender factory, it IS a fender. And it has a decal on it. My choice it's there for me, no-one else. I don't get the obsession with slap bass (Music shops usualy have at least one guy franticaly slapping away) and every other Youtube bass video is someone frantically whacking their bass at high speed). But I just let it pass, after allas they say opinions are like a***holes - everyone's got one and most are full of s**t.
do you ever buy plain polo shirts from primark and stitch Fred Perry emblems on it? I find it a wee bit embarrassing when i see a BMW with a M badge stuck on. It works the same for instruments.
There was actually a lot of that when I was at school (but it was La Coste and Le Coque Sportif - some kids even added extra stripes to trainers so they passed as Addidas.) because kids were aspiring to own those things. For the record I have a Harley Benton Acoustic bass and happily play it anywhere. -
Its one of the older Vamps so it has the Warwick High Mass bridge rather than the two piece. But still.... and to confirm the P bass has stayed in its case sine this arrived. Suprising for me as Ive had Jazz basses and a variety of others but I usually see them as extras to the p bass. This however I cant put down.[Img]http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx213/Nibody/MIM%20P/IMG_20170419_065705_548.jpg" class="ipsImage" />

Never owned a Warwick before and have been lusting after a Vampyre for ages. Have to say I am VERY impressed - love the sound (surprisingly versatile), love the Neck, beautifully balanced on the strap and looks the Dogs doo dahs without being too outlandish. This could woo me away from my beloved P bass.
