1. Soo. I get a small golden Handshake from work. Leaves me enough to get by for a few months, and a budget of around £700 to buy a Precision. Been looking at the Roger waters Signature, American Special FSR in Honeyburst and the Mex Classic Series 50s. Which would you go for and why?
 2. Yes there are some bottom feeders round here... but then I'm a Coventrarian so there you go. I also play in a "Pub" band, and have truly no interest in the corporate scene, I'd find it soul destroying. To be fair to the less "sympathetic" replies, the OP did come across just a smidge arrogant. As Ozzy once said - "You meet a lot of people on the way up - dont f+++ with them as you meet them on the way down too" There is a funny atmosphere on here since the big upheaval of the summer - hope it improves
 3. Read his feedback. And notice how the same names crop up again and again.
 4. I have a Maya. Rather good quality, nice 60's profile neck. Price is a bit high though on that one
 5. Squier with a 70's style logo transfer I'd say.
 6.
If the name on the headstock was the only difference, then the thing you are paying too much for is the name on the headstock, doesn't mater who put it there. Buy a bass to play it, pay for its own qualities, rather than association.
THIS Also Fender USA basses have a different Truss Rod adjustment to Squier, which would make it glaringly obvious that it was a Squier not a Fender. So you are saying he removed the Fingerboard, bought in bulk US truss-rods of the correct type (including re-routing the neck to accomodate the Heel-end truss rod adjustment, whilst expertly inserting a plug of the correct wood, shaped to fit the headstock at the nut-end )? To the degree it fooled a fender dealer? Sorry not buying it.
 7. I saw this earlier...thats one stick Id shove on the bonfire - you couldnt even salvage the neck
 8.
My little trouser flapper..
I used to have the 7215 250w. They look great and are well built but I could never get a sound I wanted out of it.
 9. I've never had a bass go down at a gig. I've ripped off a fingernail, and had my amp blow up (an old Carlsbro 150w Head - fortunately there was a bass player in the audience who ran home and lent me his amp for the remainder of the gig) and nearly been electrocuted at an outdoor gig.
 10. Gotoh direct replacement (203 I think, not the high mass one) and I'd go for Maple with three ply black meself if the body was staying cream, Rosewood and tort if its going to be natural
 11. Couldn't see this anywhere else so thought I'd start a topic. Would be usefull to help identify all of those unamed japanese copies. Will start with my Maya "Electric Bass" Next to my 96 MIM Precision for comparison. Has a solid body (NOT ply) and a lovely neck. Really nice sound too.
 12. If i'd sold my TBird I would have seriously considered this as a back-up to my PF-500
 13. Couple of offers of trades, leaning towards a nice Ibanez type *Bump*
 14.
My 2010 HW P-bass in black with rosewood & mirror pickguard fitted....yes I'm a Phil Lynott fan! Also my 2009 USA P in sunburst. The HW is just as good in my opinion & is ageing nicely (helped along slightly by me)
Oddly enough myself and a pal were discussing moorelizzy, talking about good lizzy covers bands. How do you find the action with the Badass fitted (is it recessed?). Torn between a Gotoh 201 and a Badass myself but I like the action quite low.
 15. Ill have another go.. my two new toys - '96 MIM and '70's Maya

 17. Mmmmmm... that resonant plywood, low quality hardware... he should add "t*rd polisher" to his many self appointed titles. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Les-Paul-1970-s-Cherry-Sunburst-Satellite-copy-guitar-project-/230846794468 he got it for £75.... 18. After an awful lot of soul searching (and the recent acquisition of a MIM Precision) I have come back around to my Fender love affair. So up for grabs is my Epiphone T-Bird Pro IV with fitted Epiphone hard case. Good points: Very nice, solid through neck bass, neck is lovelly.Active electronics give it a bit more sound variation than a standard Epi Thunderbird Bad points: Bass: A bit of damage to the rear of the top wing - had this when I got it (Bought as a shop damaged from Andertons). Have sanded and fine sanded it back so it isnt rough, and there are no sharp edges that could encourage further damage to the finish. Unintentionally roadworn! This can only be seen from the back of the bass and isnt visible from he front. Case: Also has a small amount of damage to one of the corners due to a muppet at the courier that delivered it. Pic's will be posted in a bit (Waiting for the camera to charge!!) bellow: Specs as follows: BASS

Epiphone T-PRO™ bass humbuckers
Classic through-neck construction
Flush-Mount, fully adjustable
SPECIFICATIONS

Body: mahogany
Neck: 7-piece (walnut / maple / walnut / maple / walnut / maple / walnut)
Neck Profile: SlimTaper™
Neck joint: Through-Neck
Truss Rod: Double-Action, 2-Way
Fingerboard: rosewood
Fingerboard Radius: 12”
Frets: 20-medium jumbo, nickel/silver alloy
Scale Length: 34”
Nut Width: 1.50" (4-string)
Neck Pickup: Epiphone T-PRO Bass Humbucker
Bridge Pickup: Epiphone T-PRO Bass Humbucker
Bridge: Flush-Mount, fully adjustable
Controls: Master Volume, Blend, High-EQ, Low-EQ
Tuners: Premium die-cast 17:1 ratio
Outputs: 1/4" Mono, Metal Jack Plate
Hardware: Black
CASE This hardshell case for the Epiphone Tunderbird is a rugged wood case covered in Tolex and featuring padded plush lining, heavy-duty handle, and accessory compartment. Super-tough hinges and drawbar latches. The Thunderbird Hardshell Case's contoured design saves weight while still providing maximum protection. Please note this fits both Thunderbird and Thunderbird Pro basses. Bass retails for £250 now and the case £60. Due to the dinks mentioned I'm looking for somewhere around the £200 mark for both together. Prefer collection as Bass + Case weigh a lot. OR.. Would be willing to trade, Ideally for a Mexican Fender or Squier VM or CV Jazz or P. Possibly a decent Japcrap P or J, or anything interesting Amp or Bass wise..

 20.
oiled the pots and honed the intermittent output jack socket.......The thumb rest appears to have had previous positions from screw holes left around; I have moved it yet again as it was too close to the strings certainly was no help there, and even stopped you striking the bass string properly.
Translation: I looked at it then sprayed WD40 on it. Then I decided to wreck the body by screwing the thumbrest in a totaly stupid place and completely ignore the obvious location for it (I'M right, fender were WRONG) It had no tuners, so I put a set of Left handed ones on. I'm sure no one will notice... BOOM another bodged bass for the unwary.. I could kiss myself.
 21.
Well found, now you mention it, I thought I'd seen it before! So it looks real but a scam?
Looks very much like it. The original US ad' was 2010 or 2011.
