Having that problem at the moment with a cover of "Kashmir". Not that theoreticaly we cant play it, it just struggles to sound "right". We had the same issue with "Barracuda" but we persevered and now it sounds great. I think there is a point you reach which is individual to each song, influenced by how much you like the song you're doing, where it stops being a challenge and becomes a chore.

Almost forgot to do this.. bought the VE-20 Russ had for sale, was as good as his word. It was a bloody bargain. Now just got to pry it away from our female singer, who seemed to think it was some sort of offering for her and borrowed it!! LOL!!

Hmmm.. and it will sound like twangy s**** with that single JP so near the bridge. Out of tune Twangy S**** at that...

Could be nicked I suppose. What do they usually go for?

Squier or similair copy (looking at the truss rod access I'd say more likely Squier than something like a columbus), 70's style Logo £15 from t'interweb, neckplate £10 from ebay. Hope you didn't pay much for it, or you've been seriously had?

Love my Pro IV, and my bog standard Epi TBird. Like the versatility of the active set up, but would be even happier with one of the forthcoming Pro's without active electronics. When i had the VM I used the neck pickup with a touch of bridge - the bridge was too plinky on its own. Jusp picked up an old 70's Japcrap Jazz (Columbus I think?) and it had been modded ages ago judging by the wiring, the tone pot is replaced with a toggle switch which allows you to run the two pickups in Series or Parallel (had to do a bit of a dig to find out what it did)

I follow an american guy who has really great feel. He came from a similair position to me (stopped playing for years then started again). He was a real inspiration towards me getting going again and he is a cool player (looks a bit like Vigo Mortensen too ladies...). Had some great chats about gear, technique and music. Bit of a darker Biffy Clyro coming through on the intro and verses (a la "That Golden Rule") particularly from the drums. Agree from the rest - really nice bass tone and a corker of a song.

Just remember - tighter for less "bow", looser for more. and when turning the truss rod - Righty-tighty, lefty-loosy
