1. Me Likey. Vaguely similair vein to what I'm trying to get off the ground.
2. I upgraded to a set of Wilkinsons on my Phil Lynott alike bitsa. Didnt think they would fit the headstock due to the large footprint - to be fair the stock tuners are pretty good quality on mine.
3. Just goes to show. I'm sure that there are a lot of cheaper pedals that would do the same job. But you could apply that to Vintage basses to. You're paying more for the "mojo" than the actual items function.
4. Yet theyve sold one!!!
5. ....its a Feckinbacker!
6. Well.. he made profit on this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320885440687
7. I had the standard Korean Epi T - had the same problem getting a case - made taking it to band rehersal a pain, so I sold it on to a fellow BC'er. Regretted it ever since!! If I had the spare cash I'd have another in a heartbeat.
8.
Hi Classrock, from Chapelfields Nigel - your friends sound like so many typical Coventry detractors who need to get out (in Coventry and open their eyes) more!!! You could never describe a city as inventive and creative as Coventry, pop. currently 350,000 (inventing the bike/being centre of watch and weaving industry/centre of car industry/host to a diverse arts industry/host to a multi-nation and multi-faith population, with over 200 different languages currently spoken in city schools, AND the best goal ever scored in an FA Cup Final, 1987!!) as soulless. It's the usual thing of beauracrats, architects and politicans making decisions about the city to create what is, yes, a hobgoblin of styles and quite a lot of concrete, but there's no chance the city is soulless. Sounds like you're due a trip back - you might be surprised what you've been missing out on!! This has been a public service announcement for the COVENTRY Liberation Party
Depends very much on the area. To my mind Cov has always been the same, a rough diamond. It's n worse than any other major city really. Maybe with the passing of time it's lost a little of that "Blitz Spirit" that my Grandparents generation had as that generation passed away. My cousin still lives there as do a couple of mates. She does have a bit of grief (was burgled and had house trashed, kids trying to put bricks through the windows) but she does live in a rougher part of Willenhall. Likewise one of my mates lives in Henley Green but he hasn't had an ounce of hassle. I'd hope that with the passing of those generations the old place hasn't completely lost it's soul - I remember when my parents moved from Tile Hill to Stoke Heath the neighbours coming round with pots of tea and sandwhiches. Be horrible if it had, I always felt Coventry had that sort of community spirit second only to the east end of london.
9. Anyone from here playing or going? may be going down for the 29th to see x-ufo (friend has spare ticket.)
10.
Mine. Both amp and bass bought from the for sale section..
Thats very similair to the Trace combo I owned in the 90's
11. I had a Trace Elliot in the 90's as that was what Steve Harris was endorsing at the time and I do like a bit of Maiden, and I have to say I found it very Sterile which i suppose is another way of saying "polite", which is why I whent the Ampeg route this time around. Can't say I know much of any of those amps but the Sansamp would give you a good variety of tones. Could be shooting off the target of what you're after but what about something like this - http://www.ehx.com/products/steel-leather
12.
HI Buddy. I was born in Tile Hill north. I live in Coundon now, close to work. I build the famous London Taxi ! Where are you from pal.
I grew up in Tile Hill, lived in Wyken before the family moved out of Cov
13. My humble little board
14. Bought Arnaud's DrQ after he was let down. Smooth transaction despite the easter weekend getting in the way - Pedal was in top condition and boxed in original box - and was very securely wrapped and padded. Top bloke.
15. Just listened to "59 Sound" by The Gaslight Anthem
16.
I've been using my budget Sennheiser Freeport for a couple of years now. Never had any reception issues, and keeps my tone intact. Not in the same price, and i assume quality, bracket as the ones mentioned above though. Cheers Geoff
+1 - I bought a Freeport from JohnG.
17.
Interesting. I think the fact that Cowell and Sony were aware of the use of the name and used it anyway won't work in their favour. I dislike the "We want that, you won't let us have it so we'll take it anyway" attitude and hopefully, given how hard Sony and the rest of the biz want the hammer to fall on people with this attitude to downloading music, the justice system will apply the protection of intellectual rights as vigorously as the biz wants it applied in every other circumstance - not just when it suits them.
They (Cowell etc) tried the same trick with that music charity - Rhythmix.
18. Nope.. it was a Vox White Shadow and it was pretty foul to be fair
19. Easy to get screwed by customs. My mum has a friend in the States that sent over some Christmas presents for her and my kids (nothing fancy, couple of handmade dolls, bassball cap, and a couple of other small items), and she still got screwed over for cash this end. I know this because I was enquiring as to the posibility of having a MightyMite body sent across by her as a "gift".
