1. Yea I was looking at that. Tempted as I need another big cab for my second band. Don't really have the cash though.
2. Ok no worries. Wasn't sure how easy it would be.
3. Hi Dave, On another note. Don't suppose you'd be up for making a small active blend circuit I can fit in my looper? Is this an expensive option?
4. Hi, how much for a straight sale?
5. What exactly does it do?
6. Hehe, ta. Thats a filter and ring mod. At the moment I use it as a kind of wah for filter sweeps but thers a bit of low end loss so I may add a bass wah of some sort for that instead. It's a custom pedal made by a fantastic local guy, check out his site: www.bugbrand.co.uk
7. Had a bit of a change around. The signal chain is now: TU2-> homemade 3 channel looper -> ch. A of DD-20-> A/B box (top left, used as mute) Loop 1 (centre switch): Octoplus-> Bass EQ-> Modded Dod 250-> Tubescreamer-> Marshall Guvnor-> Rat Loop 2 (right switch): Ibanez SB7-> Bugbrand Weeviliser Extreme (with Alesis F2 exp. pedal)-> Boss CE3 (temporary until my Pearl Phaser is fixed)-> ch.A of DD6 Loop 3 (left switch, doubles dry signal and splits to guitar amp) -> 2x DJ13's (octave fuzz)-> Line6 FM4-> looper with Alesis Bitrman and Faze units-> ch. B of DD6-> Jamman Did that make any sense?
8.
Posted it before on the other forum, but yeah ABM 500 head + matching 8x10 cab. Pic taken during recording (testing mic's for sound - we didnt use all of them!) Thinking of a change this year maybe.
Nice. Which mic did you go with in the end?
9. This is my current rig: Sunn 1200s and TLA 5021 comp through an Aguilar GS412 for bass (fx chain A) and a 'Vortexion' 50's valve PA head through a 'Frunt' guitar 4x12 for 'guitar' (fx chain B, which is pitch shifted up two octaves). Sorry about the terrible low light camera phone pics.
10. Wait, so its not a valve head? Thats a bit disapointing.
11. If I had some money that FZ-2 would have gone along with your arm by now. If it's still there next week it will be mine!
12. Ah bugger. I worked out that its only one effect in that chain that needs the blend and it's a boutiquey type unit made by a local guy so i may just get him to mod it for me. Thanks for your help.
13. Hi, Hoping to add a blend knob to my looper. I tried using a 400k pot and wired the input to the circuit, output and return to it and it sort of works but it gets really quiet in the middle where I would want to st the pot. Any ideas why i get this volume loss? Do I ned a different resistance pot or have I just wired it wrong? I have the return on the middle lug and the in and out on the outer two and tried all the other combinations.
14. You tried using the Rat for overdrive grit? I think I have the same model as you and with the filter up quite high and the gain quite low it sounds lush as a gritty overdrive.
15. Friend of mine may well be interested in this if she hasn't bought a new copy already. Will be in touch shortly.
16. Cool, well many thanks to G-Bitch who's sorted me with a V4. Any one have any ideas as to where I can find an SVT then? I'm gonna need two amps as I run a double rig with different fx through each. That FX rentals place is mega expensive unfortunately. Any ideas?
17.
They do crop up on the bay fairly regularly, that German shop always seems to have a couple of overpriced ones. Usually still cheap compared to other US basses of that era, and a fantastic bass for the money, best to avoid the active graphic-EQ models (II & IV) – they’re noisy and gobble batteries. They’ve got a unique, slightly acoustic sound, and quite a few decent players have used them; Jah Wobble, Barry Adamson (Magazine / Nick Cave), Ross Vallory (Journey – you can hear the Magnum cutting right through the mix on “Don’t stop believing”), Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), and Paul Haig (Tool). Cheers Joe, hope you’re enjoying your Sabre, that’s a really nice original one. I’m probably going to re-fin mine in black now that I’ve got the RD to fill in.
Love it to bits. Really versatile compared to Stingrays. Good call on the black re-fin, they look great in black.
18. Fantastic collection. You have immaculate taste. You have two basses I have and love (Magnum and Sabre) and one I am seriosuly gas'ing for (RD Artist).
19. The links don;t seem to be working for me. They just go to the Devi Ever homepage.
20. If you buy an NV610 to go with your Sunn 300t I will be immensely jealous.
21. Sell it to me for £550. :-)
22. I have an Aguilar GS412 and love it to bits. Can't see myself ever needinganother cab. Dood said he'd compared it to two GS212's and I think he said that the two GS212's sounded even better. Worth going down to the Bass Merchant and trying them. Have heard really good things about Bergantino too though.
23. Yup, got lucky with the customs and paid just over 1k in the end. Fantastic bass. There are two at Nicks Guitars http://www.nicksguitars.com/basses.htm If you're prepared to import its worth looking on Ebay US (rather than searching for items available to the UK) then persuading the seller to ship overseas which is what I did.
24.
Just thinking of saving you some cash but I have been involved in a couple of recording sessions where I have plugged straight into the desk to record... then in the mixdown process, a feed is taken from the isolated bass track into say, an Ampeg which is then recorded as another track. With the two track, the blending of the amp and the direct bass signal gives you a fat but precise sound (of course, you could choose to remove all of the DI from the mix if you wanted). The advantage for you of course, is that you could hire/borrow/beg etc the amp for just a day for doing the recording of the amp. Just an idea for you to consider and potentially save you some cash (and yeah, I can assure you it does sound as good)
Yea good idea. Had considered this sort of thing. I would much prefer to have it for the whole session though if possible. I use a lot of fx and would want to tweak them according to the amp.
