Would probably be Ampeg (SVT-VR + Dan Armstrong reissue) or Ernie Ball for me.

The Boss GEB7 is pretty good. I have the EQ20 though and am not a big fan as it doesn't seem to like the 18v circuit on my bass and can clip when I play hard. It's great for the programability and flexibility though. I use a Rocktek Bass Eq now in my distortion channel to add low end and it works fine. Think it was only about £20 quid used too.

Anyone here have or used to have an Ampeg 810?
joegarcia replied to G-bitch's topic in Amps and Cabs
I used to really dislike them but having used a few recently with vintage SVT's (provided backline at some festivals I did over the summer) I am converted. So many of my favourite bass sounds came from one. Although I'm not sure how much of it was down to the SVT or the cab. I had the pleasure of using a 70's SVT with my usual cab (an Aguilar GS412) as seen in my avatar and that was easily the best tone I've ever had though. -

The travelling effect - DHA Passive Blender
joegarcia replied to Toasted's topic in Repairs and Technical
I have a DHA Dual Loop Blender on my desk. I've been reviewing it for him. We've agreed that we will send this on a little tour of the UK. If you would like to demo the blender please reply to this thread. I will gather your information, form a mailing list and we will all try it out. I've found this to be a powerful sound sculpting tool. When everyone who has had the opportunity that wants to we will raffle the pedal for a cancer research charity of DHA's choice. It is exactly the same as this one on Dave's website. http://www.davehallamps.co.uk/Products,%20...l%20Blender.htm Right now the list is: Basszilla Joegarcia Waldo Finnbass Vegas Hooker Slaphappygarry Pablocien Funkyassbassman Anymore for anymore?
Isn't that the list? I went on this and sent it to Waldo, was that wrong? -
I have unbearable GAS for a Pre EB/maple board/natural finish/black plate Sabre or Stingray. It is destroying me as I'm broke!

I bought a used one off PauBass off here a while ago for the guitarist in my band. It's really well built but the new prices seem a little steep to me.
Yup, that's the place. What band were you with then? Coupla years ago, chances are it was me that engineered the show.
Hehe, I've played there. You have the most obsecenly huge FOH I've ever seen in a venue of that size. I played there with Rose Kemp last year.

My guess is that your Squier is passive and the Peavey is active. It's nothing to worry about. An active bass is one which has a small preamp on board with a battery for extra eq and tone shaping. Active basses usually have a higher output than passive basses and most amps will have different inputs for active basses and passive basses to account for this difference in output. If you really want to make your Squier louder you can think about fitting some active pickup's or a preamp but if you are happy with the sound as it is I shouldn't bother.

Flat cab? How about one of these? Very cheap too I beleive.
It's to much signal for most pedal is the main thing it's a much much much hotter signal that striaght out of your bass so it would probably overload most of the pedals and make them sound awful. Having an EV Filter before a compressor means you are feeding it a bigger signal and then the compressor is protecting your amp from the huge peak that may occur while using an EV Filter.
Yup. Also, an envelope filter works by reading the natural dymanics of your playing so having it after the compressor (which is made to reduce dynamics) may make it completely redundant and sound very weak.
