Oooooh, is it one of the AliExpress/eBay wenge necks? I've wondered what they're like.
-
Interestingly, it looks like they only redesigned it for the 4 string though. The 5 (at least on their website) sill appears to have the rounded lower horn. I think I actualy prefer the rounded one. I like that it isn't entirely traditional.

Builds don't need to be fast. I've had one going for over 10 years. I look forward to seeing the results (eventually).
-
I've only got the one (Ashdown ABM-600 and Zilla 212), purely because I'd be in so much trouble with my wife if I brought a second home 😅 If I was single or we had a bigger house, I'd love to have more rigs.

In case there isn't much on Gumtree/Facebook to apply for doesn't mean they're meaningless as a resource to advertise yourself as well. I put a detailed(ish) description of what I was after for my current band on Gumtree and they contacted me. They didn't have any ads up.

Excessive scratchplate syndrome (ESS)
MichaelDean replied to Clarky's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
My guess would be that the control cavity is caved in at the top and the pickguard is there to hide it. -
That really does sound very nice indeed! New GAS acquired! The paper white metallic has caught my eye. https://shop.warwick.de/en/instruments/electric-basses/sadowsky-metroexpress/21-fret-vintage-mj-bass

I don't think I've played enough basses to come up with a true "does everything for me" bass. Some basses (except maybe a p bass) don't look right in every genre either. Right now, if money was no object, I'd have either: A 5 string Dingwall Z, with some fancy top and a ridiculous finish, 3 FDV pickups, Glockenklang preamp, full wenge neck. OR A 5 string Dingwall super J in metallic purple, with a matte black pickguard, 3 FDV pickups, Glock preamp, full maple neck, blocks. I could also quite easily spec something out from Alpher, Brooks, Overload, Dunable... The list goes on.

I might be talking out of my rear end, but I'd assumed that the strings cool down a bit after a break and contract a tiny amount after you put it down, so it pulls them sharp.

Need to get Thekla on that list too. I've played old and new Mr Wolfs several times in various bands. Got a gig at The Gryphon coming up too, which is a must for a metal band let alone one in Bristol. Other places I'd like to play would include: - Headlining a festival, and get everyone to put the flash from their phones on (it was lighters when I first had this dream!), just so I can see them all - If famous enough, do a village hall tour, all booked under different names, announce them a day or two before and have a string of packed out small gigs for people that really want to be there

I find the volume control on a strat too close to the strings. I've not played one long enough to get over that potentially being annoying. My Harley Benton SC-550 II is great though. Really seems to fit me much better than the Tele I have. The carved top and tune-o-matic bridge just works for me. And I like the control layout at lot.

@ped - I'd be interested to hear your thoughts too if you do go for it. I've had a hankering for an all tube head recently, and this seems like it would suit me nicely. My ABM-600 isn't exactly lacking but I'm wondering if there might be some squashy tube magic I'm missing out on. It also might just be GAS 😅

It's a great pedal. It isn't quite enough on its own for this band, but I've got it feeding the BBM as the "dry signal" so I can blend them, and then they're in the effects loop of the GX-100, which I can turn on/off at the click of a switch.

Played at The Victoria in Swindon last night with Phantom Droid and Thrakian (we're Hora). It's a cool venue. Decent size live room, good sound, very competent sound tech, good lighting, smoke machine 🤘 Despite growing up in rural Wiltshire where Swindon was the closest big town, I'd never actually got my act together as a teenager to play there. So, it was nice from that aspect too. Really good fun. I did have a few flubs though. I blame that on almost having a migraine on Friday. I'm still not 100% and my wife didn't really want me to go out. I felt like sound check actually helped my head in a weird way though. Very strange. Gear: Combustion, GX-100, Mojo Mojo, Bass Big Muff, ABM-600 into the Hartke cab that was there.

@DocTrucker the best life hack for that is to join a doom band. Then you HAVE to go to the gigs!

They're still not on the Eipiphone website. I saw them as a targeted ad on Instagram. I don't think it's meant to be live on the PMT website yet. If you search for "Grabber", they don't come up.
-
Looking at the specs, it's pearloid dots on a maple board, so pretty invisble, just like the Gibson originals.

This is what was posted in the GT/GX facebook group: GT-1000 Version 4.0 – Now Available – Now, even more creative features have been added to the industry-leading guitar effects processor, including three newly developed high-gain guitar amp types that spotlight the continuing evolution of our advanced AIRD and MDP technologies. Meet the Crew X-Ultra is inspired by a classic British stack amp modified with a modern multi-stage gain circuit. X-Optima features an innovative new gain algorithm that takes full advantage of MDP’s adaptive frequency shaping. X-Titan is well-suited for down tunings and extended-range guitars with seven or eight strings. Also Available: GT-1000CORE Version 2.0 Doesn't seem like anything new for bass. I'm curious to see if they're working on something for the GX-100 too...

Help required - Power supply for a pedal board question
MichaelDean replied to jonnybass's topic in Effects
Yep. Either a current doubler or a different supply. I recently bought the below cable. It's sold as a CCTV adapter, which means there isn't a guitar stuff extra markup. Does the job perfectly to double the current to power my GX-100 from my power supply. https://amzn.eu/d/08OxwCGL -

You are correct in your assumptions. What is the power supply on your board? -
It might be the most boring product refresh I've ever seen. They've dropped the jaguar bass from the line up too. https://www.fender.com/en-GB/electric-series/player-ii/?start=0&sz=23&cgid=electric-series-player-ii
