I can't be of any help, but I don't hate it.

The IEM (in ear monitors) Bible thread
MichaelDean replied to EBS_freak's topic in Accessories and Misc
It was just for us. We were an originals band, the venue's sound guy took care of FOH. I forgot about the click, but the guitarist was looping live, so we had the click in our ears too. We then had sends to go to FOH. It was running into a Focusrite soundcard, which then lets you sum outputs as stereo and do individual mixes. It was pretty nifty. Easier to run than an analogue desk once we got it sorted out. Levels were saved, so it was just a small amount of tweaking after setting up. -

Stereo is great for separation of instruments. You can have stuff panned around to hear things more clearly. I used to have kick, vocals and bass in the middle, snare off centre, guitar on one side, cello on the other and keys and overheads spread out. It really gives you a bit more room to hear things properly. The overheads were great for the crowd and stage ambience. -
Bang on 14 working days and my order has been processed an dispatched. Need to bear that in mind for future orders if they're time critical.

I've seen some that tune with a metal wire instead of tension rods. Seems pretty cool. You just twist a thing that looks like a machine head and it alters the tuning of the drum quickly and evenly. https://www.welchtuningsystems.com

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2024?
MichaelDean replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Best would be my Laney Digbeth head. Lovely bit of kit. Best class D head I've used. Worst was some Adagio roundwound strings for my Revelation bass. They get the job done for a limited time, but they're just not great. Wouldn't recommend. 3/10. -
I was using an Ashdown ABM 600, but I've moved on to a Laney Digbeth 500. Lighter, looks cooler, sounds darker. Highly recommended.

@Downunderwonder no, a Bass Fatboy. 600w, neo speakers. https://www.zillacabs.com/bass-fatboy

There is a 5 string jazz in the Ultra II lineup. It'd be nice to see a 5 string meteora though.

Interesting pricing model on this Thunderbird. Repainted in pink, so obviously worth £750 more than the other listings 🤔 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235761663859

@knicknack and I tried his CTM-30 through my 4Ohm Zilla 212 at the South West Bass Bash weekend and it seemed reasonably loud in the room. I think it would entirely depend on the volume of the rest of your band though.

And there you have it... A PJ, a Meteroa and 4 & 5 string Jazz basses with active electronics. Might be a new preamp on these as they've got two possible mid frequencies to choose from. https://www.fender.com/en-GB/american-ultra-ii-basses/

Having played @spyder's Serek Midwestern 5 with Newtone strings at the weekend, I'm very excited to get them. They were lovely on that bass - as was the bass itself. Might need to get a set of the shorties for my Mustang.

Actually, I have had those too. I've found in the doom scene, bands seem to be nicer than they were in the post-rock scene from that perspective. Might be the high (pun intended) number of stoners the genre attracts?

I do like to try and watch the other bands if I don't have a long journey back. I'll always try and say to the other bands if I have to leave, so I'm not just disappearing. Try and be a bit more polite.

Cab Build: PA Shootout:

I'm pretty sure that face is Stew trying to figure out how he's going to afford a cab and fit it in his house.

Ok! I had double crumble. A scoop of apple and a scoop of rhubarb in the same bowl 😋

Thanks @scrumpymike for another excellent bash. Sorry I had to dash off early. I forgot to take any pictures too. Lots of lovely basses. @knicknack's Limelight with the rosewood board was lovely. Never thought I'd like flats, but the ones on there were amazing. @spyder's Serek Midwestern 5 was a terrific little bass. But thanks to @JapanAxe, I now need a D-Roc 5. Not want. NEED.

Just got in from a great gig at Moor Brewery in Bristol. I've had to run home after our set because my daughter has chickenpox so there is no guarantee that I'll get much sleep tonight. Strange but cool venue. It's literally in the warehouse. There are tanks brewing things next to where you play. The sound guy also just wanted the amps to do the work in the room, so we got to turn up LOUD 😬 But, it was the most engaged crowd of the night (so far). Lots of people headbanging, which is great. A mate said lots of people were pointing at my Dingwall too. I think we're really honing in on our live sound now after 8 or so gigs. Love, love, love the Digbeth too. It was an 8Ohm cab, so I was putting half power into it, but I still filled the space at about 6/7 on the volume controls. Didn't manage to get a pic of the stage, but I was playing my Combustion into my pedalboard, then Digbeth head and another band's Matamp 610. We've curated a night there for December, and I'm really looking forward to it now!

I was wondering if anyone knew if the 14 days that Newtone say for custom orders is working days or calendar days? I placed my first ever order with them on the 27th of September, so it was 14 calendar days yesterday, but only 10 working days. I had all of the email confirmations of my order but not had anything since. My strings are a bit dead so I'm looking forward to getting them through. Left it slightly too late this time!

You could always try Gemini Pickups? https://www.geminipickups.co.uk/ They've got a few thunderbird type ones that I'm sure you could throw in the bridge.

That's good to hear. I'm very interested in one after my recent Digbeth head acquisition!

My daughter has chicken pox, if anyone would rather I didn't attend, do speak up. Otherwise, I'd love a go on @JapanAxe's D-Roc!

I worked full time at McDonald's for a while after finishing my degree. The music was on a 1.5/2 hour loop, but every few weeks a new song came in and an old one went out of the rotation. There are many songs that I now hate. There is no escape when you're on the overnight and there aren't loads of customers to distract you.
