  1. This reminded me of Pixies - Gouge Away
  2. I'd say the nut is probably fine. The E and A strings may sit a bit higher than the D and G. They're thicker strings, so only the base of the slot needs to match the others. How far down the tuning pegs are the winds? If they're too high, they can cause some unwanted vibrations due to the break angle.
  3. I recently got a Roqsolid one for my ABM600 with a free foamguard upgrade as a part of a promotion. Seems like a nice upgrade from the ampguard one I had on my Ampeg cab, which was also fine and held up to a lot of loading in/out over the years I had it.
  4. It's all come together really nicely and sounds great! I bet it'd love a bit of dirt too...
  5. Again, I wouldn't say dull is like dark. Dull, to me, is a hofner with tape wound strings, tone rolled off. Dark is more like a P bass with rounds and the tone down a bit. There is a bit more harmonic content in a dark sound than a dull one.
  6. I think this must be the same bass and has been a project for @Waddo Soqable... https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/473682-rickys-had-his-head-chopped-off-bosh/
  7. No, I wouldn't say dull. It's different to dull. Dull to me is negative, dark isn't necessarily a bad thing. One of the guitarists in my band has several SGs, a Les Paul and a Heritage H170. The SGs are a little scooped sounding, the Les Paul has a lot more mids. I would describe the Heritage as darker. It is almost more focused and has an extended bass response. It has a clarity that the others don't have by sacrificing a bit of the high end. I know that's skinny stringers, but hopefully that's helpful...
  8. Nah, that'd work well. The stage is so covered with smoke that the audience just sees the flashing of a pick and hear a massive wall of sound. I'd have no complaints as a punter!
  9. Yeah, that looks really cool. Love a bit of chrome!
  10. I would have liked to compared your B6 to my GX-100 too.
  11. I've not liked any of the flats I've had over the years, and yet, for some reason, I'm tempted to buy a set of these for the bass I'm building. Is that absolute madness? I think it might be...
  12. If I didn't love my ABM 600 (don't know why we didn't get one of those on stage!), I'd have been looking for one. It was a lovely thing. So easy to dial a good tone on. I know I spent a while on the old school Trace, but that was trying to get rid of a rattle from the speaker.
  13. I've had spells where I've just not played much for a year or two. It happens. Give yourself some time and be kind to yourself. Your interests are allowed to wax and wane.
  14. Here's one I added to my Combustion so I have a passive tone control.
  15. I'll never understand why they must insist on "launching" products when it isn't available to buy. A Google search can't even find a teaser video for it. Same with the new Roasted series basses - there is a bit more about them online, but still not available to buy, just pre-order. Launch it when you have the product to sell! They're just killing any new product buzz they might get by constantly jumping the gun.
  16. Your Les Paul would have had me tempted!
  17. I was mainly suggesting it to make the gold strings work. The JMJ Mustang comes with flats strung through the body. I haven't heard of anyone having issues with that...
  18. That looks like a gorgeous combination of woods! Fingers crossed the new bit of ebony arrives safely🤞 Could make it a string through body and then you should be ok with the regular scale gold strings... No need to worry about length of posts. I find it can help to get thoughts out.
  19. Thanks! I'm really pleased with the fingerboard. I think it looks much better than the original one.
  20. Got the clamps and inner tubes off today (thanks @Rexel Matador for the technique!) And it all looks good. I've just been busy getting the fretboard flush with the neck. I've just ordered some black carbon fibre tubing and stainless steel rod for the side inlays as well.
  21. I like to tinker... On my Combustion, I've moved the neck pickup back to the middle position, sourced a new pickguard to hide that hole, and replaced the volume with a stacked volume and tone control. My Mustang needed a paint job when I got it. Then, in lockdown I treated it to a stainless steel re-fret and a set of hipshot ultralights because the old machine heads were shot and there is t a direct replacement. Nowadays, I can leave it for a few days, pick it up and it's still in tune. It also got a @KiOgon loom a while ago as the volume pot died. I didn't like the stock white guard that had aged unevenly on my candy apple red Revelation PJ, so I had a black one made. I was curious about the Fender high mass bridges, so one of those got fitted. Really nice, solid thing, with no side to side saddle movement. Oh, and I like flat top knobs, so I swapped those out too.
  22. Got the fretboard cut to rough size today and the glue is currently doing its thing... I'll be able to trim it down to actual size once I've unwrapped it tomorrow!
  23. I was at this recording for The Offspring at Reading Festival back in 2002, which then appeared on Splinter. The crowd are credited.
  24. Forgot to say thanks to @Phil Starr and everyone who lent amps to the shootout. I had fun playing them all, I hope what you heard was ok! 😂
