  1. I bought a kit from FretNation in the USA to change my volume to a stacked Volume/Tone control. Works in active or passive mode. It was just a couple of wires to solder and I had to enlarge the hole a bit to get the stacked pot in, but I'm really happy with the result. In hindsight, I could have just bought a stacked pot, but I knew that it would come with the matching knobs, so went this route.

How are they in use? They look like they'd be hard to get an adequate grip on.
  3. I've got a 201B on my Squier Jag and it's started to get a bit of tail lift after being on there for about 10 years. I've not heard anyone else have that issue, so it might just be a one off.
  4. So I've picked an example flight from British airways. The seat for the cello would have been £703. The additional fees didn't apply.
  5. I can't help with the case decision, but I've flown to Japan with a cello in a Hiscox case with a booked seat. The guitarist and I flew direct with Virgin and most of the gear, while the rest took a cheaper flight with a change. It worked really well. They all knew about it at the gate and on the plane. They even had a seatbelt extender ready to go round it as soon as I sat down. I only felt a bit bad for the person sat in front of it as they couldn't recline their seat! I also remember I had to call up to make the booking as you don't (didn't?) pay tax for it. There wasn't an option to do it online, but that was 2010. Things may have moved on.
  6. Ah, that's barely misaligned though. I'd wager that's a worn router template on the pickup. Just adds to the vintage vibe, like the router lump on a Tele's neck pocket 😜
  7. The bridge pickup isn't crooked, the tune-o-matic bridge is intentionally angled so it can be intonated. It's a feature not an error. I think the new Gordon Smith looks great though! I'd love to try one of those out!
  8. I like the strict local rules. I'll put on my bass case, get on a scooter (following all rules of the road!) over to PMT and grab a Squier Affinity PJ and a 5 string set of Ernie Ball Super Slinkys where I throw away the G to take me down to drop C.
  9. Looks like they've put a Mustang bridge on it, so I'd say it'll be the same. You'll probably need to wait for the actual release date to get the fretboard radius though.
  10. I played the Queen Vic in Stroud when I was 15. It was a band with my brother on guitar and vocals and his mate on drums and we were Team Catharsis. There were some originals and covers in the set. Went down reasonably well and afterwards one of the guys sat at the bar complimented my playing on Walk on the Wild Side, which was nice!
  11. So many... EB0 Rickenbacker 4001 Sandberg of some description Les Paul bass Thunderbird D-Roc Jack Casady Steinberger of some sort There will be more that I can't think of right now too. I've had a relatively sheltered bass life so far. I also don't like playing in a shop. I feel like I don't have the chops, even though I've never been turned down for a band I auditioned for. Plus I'm too awkward to flag down a salesperson most of the time!
  12. I ordered some strings for my Dingwall last Wednesday. Got the receipt about an hour later. They didn't arrive till this Monday, but I think I'm chalking that up to Royal Mail. I have had emails from them go to spam when I ordered some pickups and a separate time when I ordered some hipshot tuners that weren't in stock. @ead - it would be worth double checking your spam folder.
  13. A friend who works in the industry said after COVID, Fender got better returns putting the $100,000 NAMM attendance fee into direct marketing to end users. NAMM is for the guitar shops to see new stuff and buy stock. Fender doesn't really need that sort of marketing. Their dealers will buy whatever as they have to maintain a certain stock level to remain a Fender dealer.
  14. Either put it towards a D-Roc or a new laptop. My MacBook Pro is 10 years old now, which doesn't make the initial £1000 cost seem that bad. Still runs well with the solid state drive I put in years ago and I've had to replace the data cable once. It also currently sees a much lighter workload than when I first got it, but an upgrade is probably due at some point!
  15. I'm a fanned fret fan! If you want to build something go for it! There are calculators you can use to create a template. then you just print it out, stick it to your fretboard, cut the slots and then you sand it off when radiusing the fretboard. https://fretboard-template.netlify.app/
  16. I love my GX-100!
  17. Oooooh, the single bridge looks great!
  18. I reckon these should do. They also state a data transfer rate, which I find encouraging! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Braided-Tangle-Free-Gold-Plated-Connectors/dp/B01DEMTOQ6/ref=sr_1_5
  19. Send a message to @KiOgon. John does really tidy work with solderless terminals, so it's also then really quick to install. Lots of people on here would also recommend him!
  20. I'm sure you could hit up @KiOgon for a loom with volume, blend, and tone with push/pull for parallell/series...
  21. There has been talk of this bridge becoming the new standard and it being available for retrofit to existing Combustion/NG/D-Rocs. I emailed Bass Direct a while ago to see if I could get on a waiting list. They're saying they've heard nothing from Dingwall so far, or are keeping shtum. I'm hoping for a NAMM release 🤞🤞🤞
  22. Can I hire you to talk to my wife about a new bass?
  23. I bought myself a cheapy wireless system off AliExpress (Lekato WS-90). It was almost half the price of it on Amazon. I picked it up from the sorting office today after a failed delivery, got to reading the manual and, well, I don't think my bowl of moules mariniere nor my blowtorch have any jack sockets 😅 Still looking forward to trying it out at practice tonight though!
  24. @LowB_FTW yeah, I also bought from a UK seller - Spartan Music. It was about £30/35. Just thought I'd link the main website so people could see the full range! I hope it works for you!
