  1. I hope it's ok to post this here. My band have organised a doom night, should be a good one. Pretty close to Temple Meads, in Moor Beer's brewery on the 14th of December. https://www.headfirstbristol.co.uk/whats-on/moor-beer-co/sat-14-dec-christmas-of-doom-114885#e114885
  2. Next gig is about a month away at Moor Brewery in Bristol. We've organised this one and it should be a corker if you like Doom! https://www.headfirstbristol.co.uk/whats-on/moor-beer-co/sat-14-dec-christmas-of-doom-114885#e114885
  3. So, you're saying the tone is in the wood? 😜 My tongue is firmly in my cheek before anyone else comments!
  4. I think it must be a mistake with the controls based on this YT video. Must be VBT or VVT.
  5. These look fun! 30" scale, two humbuckers, matching headstocks, roasted maple neck, laurel fingerboard, poplar body. The website claims a weight of around 3.6kg and £449. Controls are apparenlty Volume, Tone, Master Tone. Seems like a possible mistake on the website - unless they've done the Keanu wiring? https://www.shergoldguitars.com/the-basses/telstar-bass.html
  6. Yes, I like the flat tone from my amp. My pedalboard? Well, there's the Noble, the Magellan, Le Bass, MXR, Sans Amp, BK7, Bass Butler, Digbeth. They're all running flat though. It's just the basic tone 😜
  7. I've got a custom set of Newtone hex core nickels on my Dingwall for CGCFC tuning at the moment. They're perfectly fine. Not as amazing as I'd hoped. I might try the round core next time. It's certainly the best way of getting the guages I need for the tuning though, especially as Payson prices at Bass Direct have shot up. There's also D'Addario 50-105 EXL160M on my Mustang and a set of Addagio rounds on m Revelation PJ bass. The Revelation gets the cheapest strings because it's the least used. I am wondering about stringing it up with a set of Adagio flats though. I've not been that impressed with the rounds. They're a bit rough like stainless steel strings and have a bit of a copper hue in certain places.
  8. I don't know. I think a well chosen 3 band can be more musical. I've played through those Peavey heads before and I've not found a tone I like. I settled on something eventually, but I wasn't happy. I've got a degree in Audio and Music Technology - I've got a good idea on the EQ. This amp just had an inherent tone I couldn't dial out that wasn't for me.
  9. They're originally for holding the individual string mutes on. You could tighten or loosen them to bring them up or down. You can see it here: https://www.oliviasvintageguitars.com/bass/guitars/6603/
  10. I've been thinking about doing the same sort of thing but charcoal frost metallic. I'll be very interested to hear your thoughts on the neck.
  11. I've not used a GT-1000 before, so can't really say. I have heard users say that they sound better, but I've got no point of reference. I think there is a limit on the number of the same blocks of certain types you can use on the GT range if that's a consideration. Like you can have X number of reverbs, X number of drives. I do like the touchscreen on the GX too.
  12. So, all of the available blocks are stored along the top of the effects editor. All of the bass specific stuff is at the end of the menu and there's a break in the line of blocks, so it's obvious where they start. And as you're adding blocks, it doesn't then ping back to the start of the blocks, you can go for more blocks in the same area of the menu. They're nicely contained and are fairly accessible from that point of view.
  13. It's just a faff for them to release a bass specific model though. It would be easier to have a software option that hides the guitar stuff. But, for the drives, I found the guitar stuff sounded better to my ear with a bit of bass boost (which is a default knob) over the bass options. What this seems to be really lacking to me is the synth stuff. It doesn't have any of that, which is a big shame. Otherwise, it's got everything per the ME-90B, plus loads of other options.
  14. A couple of years ago there were a whole load coming through my local CC. An original 50s P bass, a Dan Armstrong see through bass and more, expensive, vintage basses that I can't remember. All looked real, seems mad that you'd sell them through there though!
  15. I've got mine working on my GX-100. It was a big pain at first with the two Bluetooth connections. I had to do it not in the order in the manual to get it to work. I think it was audio and then the midi connection. It's been solid ever since. It isn't very useful most of the time and I can navigate the menu on the device quicker than the app. Sometimes it's useful to play a band recording through my amp though.
  16. I must admit, even though I have no practical use for one at the moment, the idea of a JPB-300 with some TI flats has me mightily GASsed up! I love the sherwood green/tort combo.
  17. It's an Epiphone Embassy. I had a go on it at a recent bass bash. Very light weight and very easy to play.
  18. The manual says it's the same. I've just realised what another setting on it means too - you can set them to activate with input sensitivity. So, play normally and it'll do one path, go a bit harder and you can activate the other as well. https://static.roland.com/manuals/gx-10_parameter/en-US/index.html#95900811161280907
  19. I've got the big brother GX-100. Lovely bit of kit. The latest update added more bass amps too. There's a whole section of dedicated bass stuff in the effects, but it's worth trying it all out. We really are well catered for on it. What do you want to know about the divider/mixer? You can only add one to the signal chain, but it can be configured as A/B or parallel paths, which can also be split by frequency. You can also output the paths to left/right if you want two distinct signal chains. Unlike Valeton type things, you can add in multiples of the same type of blocks too within the limitations of (I think) 14 blocks. Want parallel compression? Go for it. 4 drives? Yep. 8 plate reverbs? If you must!
  20. You could get something like this to act as both the mixer and Audio Interface. A quick Google suggests it will work on an iPad. Then you don't need the switcher or a separate audio interface and less desk space is taken up. https://www.behringer.com/product.html?modelCode=0601-AFS
  21. That looks great! I actually forwarded on the project to one of the guitarists in my band. He wants a wide pedalboard but his current one is super deep, so he's thinking of maybe printing some ends to make something that fits better.
  22. I can't be of any help, but I don't hate it.
  23. It was just for us. We were an originals band, the venue's sound guy took care of FOH. I forgot about the click, but the guitarist was looping live, so we had the click in our ears too. We then had sends to go to FOH. It was running into a Focusrite soundcard, which then lets you sum outputs as stereo and do individual mixes. It was pretty nifty. Easier to run than an analogue desk once we got it sorted out. Levels were saved, so it was just a small amount of tweaking after setting up.
  24. Stereo is great for separation of instruments. You can have stuff panned around to hear things more clearly. I used to have kick, vocals and bass in the middle, snare off centre, guitar on one side, cello on the other and keys and overheads spread out. It really gives you a bit more room to hear things properly. The overheads were great for the crowd and stage ambience.
  25. Bang on 14 working days and my order has been processed an dispatched. Need to bear that in mind for future orders if they're time critical.
