That looks great! You can tell the print quality is loads better. There aren't loads of extra bits that need tidying up compared to the earlier versions.

Yep, that's the badger.

I have heard of a new capturing process, I think it was on the Kemper. You take a reading at one setting, your goal, where you also enter the knob positions. Then you take two more, with dials maxed and all the way down. It then tries to make an educated guess about the travel of the knobs and how they interact.

The universe corrects itself, I won a ticket to ArcTanGent.

My wife got tickets to see Taylor Swift at Wembly on Saturday. We're nipping over on the train and getting a hotel for the night. Should be good! Feel like I need to book a metal gig to go to as well though 🤣

I'm assuming it had been split at some point and was held together with gaffa tape. It wasn't the worst bass drum sound I'd heard. Definitley not the best either though!

Played a birthday party tonight. The birthday girl saw us at our first Newport gig and liked us so much, she asked us to play. Quite flattering really! So, we were back in Newport, playing at The Cab this time. Seems to be a former 80s (?) shop converted into a venue. Decent stage, basic PA, but they do have cabs to use. I was going through a Marshall 810, which was supplying my bass sound to the whole venue. I'm pretty sure that's what an 810 is for! It was a fun gig. Felt like less pressure, and I could hear myself much more clearly than the previous gig. The only unfortunate thing was that we had to go on first. One of our guitarists probably shouldn't have OK'd a gig on the same weekend as his girlfriend's birthday, so we went on first and then he drove back to his house, and then on to Cornwall. It felt like a long night after that. Signal chain was: Combustion GX-100 Mojo Mojo Bass Big Muff ABM-600 810 And we are Hora: https://linktr.ee/horadoom Next gig is Swindon on the 13th of July, unless we get added to a bill at Moor Brewery.

So, my signal chain is: Volume block (now controlled by the FV-500) Compressor Wah (controlled by the toe button and then sweep of the pedal on the GX) Split the signal for parallel processing of: A bit of always on grit Drive Fuzz (Then out to the effects loop) Mojo Mojo Big Muff Noise gate Harmoniser (always set to octave down, switchable octave up) Delay (with weird wig out noises courtesy of the pedal in regular mode on the GX) Reverb I'm thinking abut replacing the parallel drive with another external pedal and getting rid of the parallel fuzz too. I'll see what I think after the gig tomorrow. I use it as a flexible pedalboard that I can turn elements on or off, rather than lots of different patches that I swap between.

I did some experimenting on my lunch break today. I've been using my GX-100 solely for ages now, but was wondering what some dirt in the loop would be like. Magnificent is the answer... I need to tidy it all up and get a shorter stereo cable for the FV-500H, plus I've got a current double arriving tomorrow to power my GX from the main power supply. Looking forward to testing it at our gig tomorrow!

I might want to give a Monaco a good test with all of the dirt I can throw at it, at the next SWBB if that's alright @stevie... I do wonder if I'll prefer a coloured speaker, but being able to hear myself better has me very intrigued.

Helix Floor/LT/HX/Stomp/PodGo owners' Club - Tips, Ideas & Patches

What capacity is the power bank in order to give you 8 hours? I'm tempted to try it out for my multi effects. -
On my GX-100, I couldn't get a stable audio connection until I set up the Bluetooth midi first, despite the manual saying to do it the other way round. Might be worth a shot.

Played on Friday night. It was ok... We were the opening act for 4 bands at the Red Lion in Bristol. We were told to arrive at 5, but said we couldn't get there till 6 for work reasons. Just as well really. Nothing was set up, and the two bands between us and the headliners didn't arrive till 6:30, with our stage time of 7:15, so they got line checked and we had a bit of a sound check. The available backline for me was a Fender Rumble 100, old style one with what I think was a 12" speaker. Not enough to do anything against the 4x12 one of our guitarists was going through really, so my stage volume was nonexistent. I also rely on my amp's valve drive, so I took the line out from my ABM-600 and put it into the return of the Rumble. I was also a bit squashed at the side. Not quite enough room to manoeuvre, so I was side on for almost all of our set. And we played to all of about 7 people, who did seem to enjoy it, so not terrible. Plus the sound man insisted on an encore. Didn't manage to watch the other bands, they didn't come watch us and the beer garden was nice, so we had a chat. The promoter really likes us and wants to get us on a more fitting bill. Got £50 too, which is better than we were expecting!

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
MichaelDean replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Nope, because it isn't a string through the body, the short scale will be fine. I've got one - enjoy it! -
The one on my GX-100 is also really, really, ridiculously good. I'd be tempted to try the Boss NS-2.

Oooh nice! I discovered Spotlights a few months ago - really enjoy their sound. Hope it is a good one for you!

Where can I get a 35" replacement neck?
MichaelDean replied to phatmonkey's topic in Repairs and Technical
Shuker will make replacement necks, starting at £400. It'd be worth an enquiry. https://shukerguitars.co.uk/our-work/draft-page/ -
Got this coming up on Friday. It looks like we're on first based on the poster, but we're listed as main support on Headfirst/Facebook. We'll have to wait and see what's what. The available backline looks to be terrible too, so I'm going to need to bring everything by the looks of things...

From what I can gather, the full ToneX lets you run up to three banks of IRs/sounds all at once. The ToneX One only lets you do one at a time, but you can switch between presets. In A/B mode, you can quickly switch between two different presets. In bypass you can turn the whole thing on/off and you have to bend down to change the preset, which might be a bit fiddly live.

I get bored just playing one bass. I'd need a few. It's a shame they don't make a multi scale... I think this selection would see me right in about any given situation though. Could probably get rid of the blue jazz but it looked nice. I have no doubt that they'd hold up to gigging. Not too sure my wife would be that happy with the arrangement though! 😅

Three months in and I'm playing the most electric guitar I have in years. Plus I'm writing new riffs too. Still need to lower the nut height. I went too low with the original one and had to replace it. I've not dared lower this one too much yet but at least it's cream coloured! I did find a guide on how to do it though. Press down at the third fret and there should only be a tiny gap above the 1st fret, enough that you can still press it down and make contact with the fret. If it's too high, file it a bit more. I'll have another go when I next restring it. Happy to be corrected if there is an easier way though!

That is annoying. It can be useful to have some songs ready to go if an extra song or two is needed, or just to vary the set a bit so you don't get bored.

Harley Benton MV-4M Mustang-like bass. £198. Opinions?
MichaelDean replied to solo4652's topic in Bass Guitars
It's just about how much powder they use as to how long it lasts. I've seen YouTube videos of guitar makers, making their own glow in the dark inlays that last longer because they just put more powder in than Luminlay. They don't have a magic formula that no-one else understands, as I understand it, they're just the first to do it at scale.
