+1 on the Mexican 50's Classic series. I was pretty sceptical, and have always favoured Japanese and USA made Fenders. I bought a used 2010 Mexican 50's classic series following all the recommendations on here, so had some confidence. Really good bass, neck is lovely, a proper man sized neck! Can't really comment on the standard series Mexican basses. Cheers Neil

Ibanez Barrel Jack Socket Replacement
orangepeelneil replied to dumelow's topic in Accessories and Misc
Hi, I've got a nice switchcraft endpin jack socket still for sale, not sure if it is exactly what you want or need but PM me if interested. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...nder+footswitch Cheers Neil -
I'd agree the neck is everything (once you get a reasonable weight body). I've put together (assembled, not really built) a few P basses but never been to happy with the necks I chose, I wish I had chose an Allparts, Warmouth or genuine Fender neck personally. I always like it when people base their projects on a bass from a certain era, Eg 57 PBass, 62 PBass, early 70's PBass. None of us put together basses intending to sell them on again but it amazing how many self builds and "keepers" on basschat get sold on after a few years. I sold all three of the basses I built within a few years as something else caught my eye. Be sure to do a build thread to keep me entertained at work... Cheers Neil

NOW SOLD Hi everyone, Decided to sell my "keeper", A MIJ C Series Precision (C02****) in Natural and maple as I'm just not playing it and I have my eye on something else. I already have another bashed around MIJ Fender I tend to gig with. I sourced and imported this directly from Japan (maybe Ishibashi Ubox, can't remember) about two years ago. The C series (1985-1986) makes it a 25 year old instrument. I think it is a first generation of the PB-70 reissue series as it has the 70's Fender TV script decal. There is also a little sticker on the head stock denoting "70". -The bass is generally a good condition as you can see from the photos. A really good example, the body looks like some kind of Ash (Sen ash?). It is all original, and has no modifications or alterations. The bass plays well with a nice low action and intonation and there is no fretbuzz, it's got some fairly new strings. There is some fretwear, which is consistent with age, but it seems the previous owner has really looked after it. There are some dings and a tiny nick on the headstock, but other than that I can't find any flaws with the bass, other than light scratches on the scratchplate and pickup covers. The body and neck are very good condition. The original pickups and electronics do their job without problems and I've purposely kept this bass all original. (Personally I've have always upgraded my MIJ/CIJ pickups and electronics as I feel there are better alternatives these days compared to the originals.) Nut Width =42mm/1.65", Don't know about the weight, I have no scales- It doesn't feel too heavy to me, but it's not superlight either. It comes with an old, but fully functional hard case( which I’ll post it in) There seem to have been a few of these MIJ fenders on Basschat recently Was thinking of £475 Delivered for this bass, (well I'll start from there), or collection from Bristol. Cheers Neil

Hi Everyone, I'm selling my Tascam DP-01, 8 channel digital multi tracker (from 2005). Had this about 4 years and bought it as an upgrade for my well loved and used tape portastudio. I've used it mainly for recording demo's / basic song ideas (which it's ideal for) and recording the band at practices. I tend to dump the audio files onto my PC after recording sessions. Haven't really used it for a while now. It's an intuitute and uber simple recorder( just select your channel and press play and record). The user interface is simple without having to scroll through endless screens. This is the basic model and has two 1/4" jack/TRS inputs (one is a switchable "dedicated" guitar input). the other models in the range have phantom power a cd writer/effects. You can record two uncompressed (.wav file) tracks simulateously,It has an 40Gb internal hard drive. Comes with original power supply and some printed instructions (but no original box). All good working condition,no issues I'm aware of and I've had no problems. TBH, I've really only ever used the most basic features on this recorder. This is a good unbiased appraisal:- http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/apr05/articles/tascamdp.htm Full Specification. -8-track recording at uncompressed CD quality onto a 40Gb internal hard drive -2-track simultaneous recording -Dedicated stereo mixdown track -Dedicated controls on each channel for volume, pan, Effects send, EQ high & EQ low -Two-band semi-parametric EQ per track -Two 1/4 " TRS mic/line inputs (one Guitar level input) -Effects send and stereo return -RCA line output -S/PDIF digital optical output -Headphone output w/level control -MIDI Timecode 0utput -USB 2.0 port for computer backup -Track editing: copy, paste, move, erase, silence -Dimensions: 17.8"W x 12.1"D x 4.3"H -Weight: 9lbs Was thinking £100 posted or collection from Bristol. Cheers Neil

Hi there, Nice bass, I've got a few questions:- 1) What's the history of this bass? is it something you aged yourself ? 2) I'm not familiar with this model, what is the origin of manufacture? and year? (if you know). 3) What is the nut width?- is it a 1.75" (44mm), like the 57 p basses Cheers Neil

Hi, Where did you buy them from ? I just read lots of good reviews of these strings online, apparently one user found a Rotosound QC tag in one of the string packets, so maybe they make them for Legacy.

SOLD PENDING PAYMENT Hi Everyone, Up for sale is my MIJ Squier "Silver Series" P-bass. The last of the Squier series to be made in Japan, N and a 2 in the serial number indicates a 92 model I think. Bought this last year, but am not using it so looking to sell it on. It's very good condition, just two marks on the lacquer as shown. The body is super light, basswood I think? and has the typical P bass bridge and controls. It has a single ply pick guard and is all standard with no modifications etc, the controls all work fine. The neck has only a light satin lacquer, and is very good condition, no damage at all, It plays really well. I gave it a good clean today and oiled the fret board as the rosewood was pretty dry. Nut width = 40mm The action and intonation is good and no fret buzzing. The strings are not brand new, but fine for my liking. That’s about it really, oh it does come with a hard case. Looking for £200 + postage (which is what I paid, and had to collect from London) or collect from Bristol to avoid the postage charges No trades thanks, unless you have a 57 /classic series P-bass with a 1.75” (44.5mm) nut width. Cheers Neil
