1.
Anyone know how to pronounce "Lykke Li"? Any help would be much appreciated.
Impossible to write in English, but the most difficult letter here is the "y" in Lykke. I'd say it comes rather close to the "ü" in Blücher (german family name) So, something like Lükah Lee without any form of stress on the "ah" bit. In phonetic, I think the "ah" bit is the roundish capital E that is turned 180 degrees. That said, one would have to have reasonably good knowledge about the phonetic system to come much closer, and also it depends much on whether you say it in her native South-Swedish tongue or in Stockholmese.
 2. Thanks for letting me know. I'd actually not realised they are quite vintage sounding. For that I already have the Little Bastard 112s, and I don't need another set. As to transport: same here. Two 112s in the backseat is soo much easier than that old 410. Glad I sold it, and haven't missed it for one second.
 3. Thanks. So if I understand correctly, the browser requests a page and downloads it, after which the browser interprets the page's code, and requests the ads that are mentioned. The links to the ads contain a portion that lets the adserver know what site or page this is from so the adserver knows which site to pay. That roughly right? So then BC gets no ad revenue at all when Adblock is on? That, in case, is logical and to be expected, but not good. I'm thinking of small but steady and monthly donations right now rather than a larger one once in a while.
 4.
I know that the ads go some way toward covering the running costs of Basschat, but I never realised how much they slow down the site until I spent a couple of weeks working at a client's office, where despite the fact that they had a seriously fast internet connection display of the Basschat pages was considerably slower than on the main browser of my computer at home where I run an Ad-blocking extension.
This is interesting. I'd never noticed a difference between Adblock ON or Adblock OFF, and therefore assumed the ads were downloaded (and were counted) but just discarded. If they're not downloaded, does BC still get revenue for page clicks, or must the individual ad be seen to go to a computer? On my Android tablet, I always get annoying ads for dating services, even though I've never done a search even vaguely in that direction. I love drinking, smoking, porn and violence though, but never seem to get an ad for any of those.
 5.
harmonious, aesthetically.
Your words - not mine. Yes, that's them words I should've found but didn't.
Perhaps we should start a new thread - eye-poppingly colourful basses of the world unite!
Wouldn't that be the Music Man Porn Thread? But yes, I like that idea. It's fun to see some wild stuff, like weird basses and eye-poppingly colourful ones, sometimes or often.
 6. We don't care! Tell us about Elkie!
 7. Hej, Mo, och välkommen hem! Bert Edit: Yup, many girls here. There's Mark, Steve and Dave, and Endeavour of course, and then there's Bryan, John and Al, and...
 8. Wow! I liked that MTD. It gave me the impression of being, for lack of a better word, consistent with itself in the different design elements and use of wood and colour. That Ray, since it's called Tango, does it have Tangerine Pearl as a colour? Different pics of that colour are sooo wildly different that I have no chance of guessing.
 9.
See how kind I am by not going back and editing it
Yes, your tha perfec gentle men. Unlike some others - the likes of whom we happily never see on BC, eh?
 10. Thanks for posting! I love Cynic, and it was great to see his playing.
 11.
Now, please tell us WHY musicians have to communicate a 'meaningful message' to an audience.
Ha! This is fun and interesting, and the perfect time for me to admit that I was holding Skej's type of side just weeks or months ago on the Dutch bass forum, where somebody had posted a vid that did nothing for me. Now I hope I wasn't using Skej's line of thought exactly, but, like him, I did indeed question where the expressing of a meaningful musical message was in that vid. Here, there are two things as far as I can see: - Some people will hear what others won't. I didn't hear the conveying of a musical message in that other vid, but others may well have. Certain is that many forum members expressed their appreciation for the vid. The Dirty Loops vid OTOH gave me strong musical pleasure whilst failing do do anything for many others. I felt I kinda got what they were on about, and as said I enjoyed this stronger than anything else the last months - for its musical "message". The notion that it was fast or technical or 80s or whatever did not enter the picture. Nor did the synth sound that I've hated since the 80s. - Must there be a meaningful musical message? I thought there has to be, but was refinedly corrected on that other forum. Meaningful musical message is all fine and dandy, but just having fun with some well known chords and rhythms has its place too. When all is said and done, any music that has value to someone is indeed valuable. One can analyse it on its formal capacities, and express more or less informed views about it. One can not (or should not) make a judgment from above and state that there exists no meaningful musical message after just having been told others experience exactly that meaningful message. If one does anyway, one risks being the apologist who claims the surgeon's sewing thread is sterile, and who, when someone rightly points out there are germs in the middle, rejoices in a "Even better! This sewing thread now has TWO bits that are sterile!" ( - "But ... but ... there are germs there and there as well ... !?!?" - "FOUR!" ) BTW, after having heard these two vids, I went on and investigated Dirty Loops some more. The upcoming album seems to have a lot of fun stuff, but I also got the impression the band have a somewhat limited scope, approaching many tracks the very same way. I can probably strongly enjoy each single track, but would probably be hard pressed to listen to a whole album in one sitting. That said, when the album is released, they may still convince me that my first impression of it is wrong. Edit: spelling
 12.
John
See? Don't underestimate John! (or Al or Dad of course)
 13. The condescending was in your original post, though indeed you did try and use your studiedness as an argument from authority and thus as a crowbar. My response was meant to show you the crowbar did not work on me, and I was having a bit of fun with your studiedness. However, afterwards I realised that you might misconstrue it as entering the pissing contest that you had started, and I certainly did not want to enter such a contest, so I deleted it, but sadly too late.
 14.
Technically and theoretically brilliant but lacks so much maturity of musicianship in my opinion. The lack of feel, emotion, dynamic range, groove and most importantly, space is just astounding to me. Also, IMO music should be enjoyed by an audience not create a platform to exhibit sterile technical exercises best kept for the practice room. What's the point in learning the depths of music theory and becoming so technically adept if you have nothing to say and can't communicate a meaningful message to an audience?
Hm. You sound like those people who criticise J.S. Bach's compositions for the exact same reasons. I for one, though never claiming that this is the last word in music, and especially not claiming that it has any brilliance theoretically, enjoyed it thoroughly because of how it communicated a meaningful, musical message to me. It rocked me more than anything else had rocked me for months.
 15.
THA Grammar Nazi's
THA Grammar Nazis
 16. Welcome, Bryan! You assume correctly. We have too few Bryans here to make it economically viable. Mark, Steve and Dave are all good, but don't underestimate Endeavour and John. Enjoy the banter, Bert (not viable but I donate a lot so it's OK )
 17.
Note to purchasers: If you buy this cab my face will NO LONGER be on the badge - it'll be YOUR face. But ONLY if you look at the badge directly, as above.
Expecting customers from overseas, Mark?
Is it your face or a faker
Good question, Karl, and very to the point. That stock head is a trademark. We wouldn't wanna annoy Discreet International Corporation Korea, and this place is a ****enfaker free zone! BTW, good luck with the sale, Mark!
 18. Will you send to Mars? Are those 15" or 18" drivers? Why is one of them a lot smaller than the other? How many drivers are there in fact? On second thoughts, just drop it. I'll take the Big One. Wouldn't want to be stuck with THIS guy on the badge:

19. Boring, formulaic and deeply lacking in musicality! ... and that's all I have to say about you lot! The music however totally rocks my boat, despite the 80s, the synths, the formulaicness and every other just remark that has been made. I find it moving in several senses, and the chord progression takes me each time I listen to it. I came to this thread after a search, as I had never heard of Dirty Loops before. So my reference frame is limited to this song and the outro bit that Steve BBB posted in the "Monster Horns" thread.
 20. I can relate. Have begged the wife for that little bit of horn [s]suction[/s] section too, to no avail. (Just making sure Mark doesn't have to do all the work on BC!)
 21. Thanks for posting, fellow CAT man! IMHO it was awesome, and I look forward to the album. Though, through my crappy headphones it sounded like a lot of processing and synths were part of it. Will revisit with good headphones later
 22. As somewhat indicated, MM are the brand of which it's very, very often said they give boutique basses a run for their money. Noobly, I know zilch, but within that reference frame, for me the Bongo stands out from everything else I've heard or felt in that it's a mighty, mighty thing of might. Then, I lurv a 4EQ, as, in my mind, the essence of the sound character is not in the bass or the treble but in the low and high mid. Then add bass and treble to taste. Oh, and its design is stellar, bog seat or no bog seat. That and its colours! Luvverly. Oh, and that stuff they smear on the neck! Very secure when you want to keep your thumb at one place, and very fast when you want to move your thumb around. Me, I love it. I'd put it on organ and piano keyboards if they'd let me.
 23.
Ironic really, when you consider they are the two most common colours for a toilet seat.....
You'll be stumped when you see the new picture pickguard for my white Bongo!
 24. Welcome, Phil. You should do more introductions. You're good at it. Enjoy! Bert
