1.
Agreed. If that's not what I said, it's when I meant to say ;-)
LOL. Yeah, I seem to have overlooked that bit. Sorry. Will read better from now on. But would you agree that the Streamliner is not quite as intuitive as one might first think, and takes a bit of playing around with?
2. What are you waiting for then, man? Get both before it's too late! Oh, and congrats with the Shuttle. Like Roland Rock, I too find the Shuttle (ShuttleMax / GBE) knobbage very easy to work with. What I think has not been mentioned in this thread is that some, me included, find the Streamliner knobbage more demanding, meaning I feel one needs more time with it before being able to dial in the sound one hears in one's head. It remains a very worthy addition to a Shuttle, and even to a GBE or ShuttleMax, AFAICS.
3. That's nothing, Matt. You have been posting on here on and off for about a year but I never actually welcomed you! Now that's bad. Welcome then, sort of. bert
4.
Bet you came home and couldn't plug in because you forgot to buy a cable?

Surprisingly I did actually remember to buy the cable
Spoilsport! Congrats! Fretlesses is inspiring things, eh. Good luck and much joy with it!
5. Personally, I'll hold my money for the time being, and wait for the 420G. (Get it? Ashdown? Car theme? Jaguar 420 and 420G?)
6.
You've known him many times? Are you a Buddhist?
... but you are aware that one doesn't have to be a buddhist to know someone many times, yes? I seem to remember some medieval litterature (yes, with double "t" - I'm stubborn) where some males "knew" some females quite vigourously. Of course, I don't condone it.
7. Welcome, Craig! Your instruments look intriquing! That said, your best bet is to be clear about what you want to be here, and to use the Affiliates forum in the Market Place section if you want to sell something. Enjoy BC! bert
8. Hi Linear, Welcome! Do as we did in my experimental band Quasar Librax: try to play four totally different pieces at the same time. If you are as lucky as we were, and just as incompetent, you'll see that quite often this wil turn out like one coherent song played in perfect timing. Dunno why. Something with gods maybe. This place is really instructive. Just last week I learned how to hold a bass guitar. Anyway, enjoy! bert
9. Mind ya, I have no experience to talk about, but FWiW: Ashdown Little Bastard 30 + two LB 112 cabs for velvety but still well defined old skool sound Genz Benz GBE 750, for the time being with those same Ashdown cabs for large, detailed, transient-willing, airy (headroomy) sound - plus for added overdrive noise if I want to. That said, I expect a lot from the GBE with the Vanderkleys and Barefaceds I'm getting later.
10. Thanko mucho! But there's a lot of us out here. Just dive in and experience it. (Just to be sure: you know why I'm both gay and a fanny tickler? It's because I'm terrible at playing with a plectrum, and another finger player on BC mentioned how he had been called both "gay" and "fanny tickler" for that by some non-appreciative listeners. ) best, bert Standard Disclaimer: it's not that I'm not terrible without a plectrum (but then again who in his right mind can even think about playing a bass when there's fannies around).
11. For how long? I've been staring and staring, at least expecting a forest to appear in the background but hoping for more, to no avail. All is see is "this space"
12. Welcome, Danny! Yup, wise decision. Reading here will indeed give you a head start. Enjoy! bert
13. Thanks, BB. I guess that answers it then, dunnit? I've ordered a set, and will report back, but I guess BB has already closed the thread really.
14. Reportedly, and also IME, this is the only GSR that one has to check for build flaws. I'm sure it's a good bass for the money if the neck is well-mounted and the strings really are symmetrically spread over the fretboard above where the neck is in the neck pocket (sorry for not knowing the English expressions here) - something they were not on the one I checked. In the same price bracket, you could still find a Yamaha RBX170 - a model that reportedly is always very well built. Good luck!
15. That's very cool info indeed, Delberthot, as I happen to have a Gotoh 201 lying about for my planned Jazzenfaker. Could maybe swap them even. I'll do some measuring of the CV bridge and the Gotoh.
16.
I'm my own worst enemy when it comes Sg Std's, and to going back to where I started from with Gibson EB series Basses from 1969 on.
Yeah, I can relate. I "played" an SG guitar a lot in the eighties, and eventually grew fond of its design. Now I'm old, I'm just re-visiting my youth so to speak.
17. Thanks, mate! That is very helpul indeed. So it seems there at least is no fitting (hi-mass) bridge cover (pu cover unknown), even though they referred to an eBay listing in that thread. That listing contained a part number that AFAICS is for a 60s P cover. OK, so then I'll just order the Fender '51 P covers and see what I find. I have no qualms about mounting one or both slightly raised if that helps. Of course width is another matter. I'll report back. Thanks again! bert
18. Ah! I've always had a soft spot for SGs, and you're not helping! Congrats!
19. IMS, it was stated on here that one can't just put the Fender covers on a Classic Vibe, but I can't find it anymore. Anyone in the know? Antone maybe? Thanks! (Yes, I know covers are in the way, but I'm not gonna cement them either. They will be removable.)
