1.
I'm my own worst enemy when it comes Sg Std's, and to going back to where I started from with Gibson EB series Basses from 1969 on.
Yeah, I can relate. I "played" an SG guitar a lot in the eighties, and eventually grew fond of its design. Now I'm old, I'm just re-visiting my youth so to speak.
2. Thanks, mate! That is very helpul indeed. So it seems there at least is no fitting (hi-mass) bridge cover (pu cover unknown), even though they referred to an eBay listing in that thread. That listing contained a part number that AFAICS is for a 60s P cover. OK, so then I'll just order the Fender '51 P covers and see what I find. I have no qualms about mounting one or both slightly raised if that helps. Of course width is another matter. I'll report back. Thanks again! bert
3. Ah! I've always had a soft spot for SGs, and you're not helping! Congrats!
4. IMS, it was stated on here that one can't just put the Fender covers on a Classic Vibe, but I can't find it anymore. Anyone in the know? Antone maybe? Thanks! (Yes, I know covers are in the way, but I'm not gonna cement them either. They will be removable.)
5. Hey Rob, Welcome, and best of luck with the hunt. bert

Hi

Welcome, Pinio! bert
7. Yeah! Never noticed it before, but strangely it does seem to lack a Return Time knob.
8. Sorry, Jonunders, I was only kidding. I referred to the both mythical and real, and oft mentioned, unevenness of the output per string on Ernie Ball Music Man basses.
9. Is it a real G&L though, or one of those cheap copies by EBMM? If the latter, nothing will help.
10.
that is a very nice looking amp.
Yeah, ain't it. Especially the tube one.
Why do they do that?
Yeah, I've wondered about that myself, but looking at these pics, I feel I'm starting to understand. It does add a certain warmth to the design, and a Mommy-I-want-THAT factor, I think.
11. It's on the Bugera site, and in two versions too: http://www.bugera-amps.com/EN/products/BassGuitarAmps/BV1001T.aspx Notice the different functionality of buttons/knobs. First a MosFet version called BV1001M: Second a Tube version called BV1001T:
12. Don't have anymore: Axl Marquee AP-800 -- my first own bass (had borrowed several before this). A terrible twitched neck made me return it after the weekend, and get the Corvette instead. Still have, in order of acquisition: RockBass Corvette 4 ACT Hohner B2B MM Bongo 4-HH MM Bongo 4-HS Squier Classic Vibe J 60s Squier Classic Vibe P 50s Squier Classic Vibe P 50s Ashbory (the version by Fender, IMS) Daisy Rock Debutante Daisy (that be the flower bass) MM StingRay 5-H fretless MM Bongo 4-HH Rockinbetter RG4003
13. Great! Congrats. The original deal was nothing short of absurd. In My Humblest of Opinions of course. Bu' we'll need pictures of all the gear you're gonna buy with that money!
14. Hey Pamela, Welcome! As said above by someone else: ti inglese e distanzio plus bono que mio italiano! Enjoy the fora! best, bert (alberto)
15. Hey KD, Welcome! You's inspirin', lad! I'll have me a kebab or two, and may even aspire to learn to play the bass at some point. Enjoy! best, bert
16. Bonjour Bastien, Bienvenue! I hope you will enjoy BC. best, bert (bertrand pour vous )

Hey

Hey Tom, Welcome! What Discreet says. Enjoy! best, bert
18. Hey Danny, Welcome! Nice project too. Good luck with it. best, bert
19.
it has four Mullard ECC83s in it
Ah! That must be it. I gather this means one tube per channel, and that we're mixing four pre-amps, as in the "step up" model I mentioned. I'd never heard of such a thing, but it seems ultra cool in my book. Is it a feature of many amps?
20. Probably. A "Bugera Veyron" was brand-registered last July, a Google search let me know.
21. Already mentioned: In Tyler We Trust, All the Queen's Ravens Tacsi - this music haunts me daily, so it must have something! (BTW, Steve, I have not forgotten. Sorry for the delay. My not performing haunts me too.) Other faves of mine that I've blindly not seen mentioned yet: Abandoned Stars: alpha male tea party: Our Helical Mind:
22. What dad says. As I wrote in a post I deleted, I long contemplated selling at item in-cost, but taking money for my time and gear rent. Decided against it mostly because customers want fantastic local service at Internet prices, and won't be willing to pay directly for my time. This is slightly funny though, as they are willing to pay for my teaching, in which case they do pay for my time, and this too is about using my time on taking part in my knowledge. So I guess it's mostly about what one is used to. I also think new ways of doing business as a specialist shop are forcing their way into the market. In the long run I think there's no way good shops will continue to accept being abused by cynical customers in the described fashion.
23. Yeah, I liked the dialing on the MAG 300 evo II. One has to be willing to dial, as small turns don't give lots of change, but it's quite versatile altogether. I also liked its compressor (used with care), and only found the sub-octave to be very slow. The much criticised VU-meter worked a treat on my MAG, but seems like a gimmick on the Little Bastard. All in all, from my perspective there are many reasons to go for Ashdown.
