Hi

Welcome, Si! bert
2.
I'm probably missing a trick here; why would anyone want to ask advice where it won't be seen easily..? Searchable or not; who would know what to search for..? Slightly puzzled. Is there a particular example you can give, or am I blind to something obvious..?
My guess is people ask for advice in their status update because the newest status updates are on the right hand side of the BC front page. I guess people see it as an often seen part of BC, and as an effective way of getting their question read by others. Dunno though. At any rate, if you have a look there, you can see several recent "threads" where people have asked about stuff to buy, and they have received answers too. Now this is not a problem for me, but I was thinking maybe BC is "better" if questions and given advice stay searchable by being placed in regular threads. Does that answer your question?
3. Yup, they exist, and pix have been published on here recently. But it's adding weight, and we don't like weight, so I thought that in cases where a wide strap with neoprene or similar isn't enough, that one could have some artificial "sealskin" on the inside of the strap. That should give more than enough resistance, as the "hairs" will point "towards the upper horn" so to speak. I'm gonna try that myself, and will report.
4. Just had a thought: When people ask for advice in their status update, then the given advice isn't searchable, is it? If so, wouldn't it be better to make sure this stuff is searchable by using regular threads for this? I know some people will just ask without searching, but others would probably search for threads they "know" to exist first, only to not find what they remembered. In case, I think that it's a drawback. One of the great BC features seems to me to be the searchable info. Opinions?
5.
This pro band, I discovered, are being paid £550 "expenses". Can you guess my answer?
In that case: "MiBass £550" maybe? (...if not, you could always mention the Carlsbro Stingray.)
6. Good example: Bad example: and IMHO of course. I feel gold on black can sometimes be OK. Gold on black plus yet another colour though is a different matter.
7.
I don't get why people don't like the SR5 scratchplate. I think it looks great (even - dare I say it? - better than the normal one) !
Me, I dislike both. Have never liked the MM pickguards, but have just gotten used to them. I've always thought the idea was great, as pickguards tended to be fugly, but not how they really looked. I forgot the Stealth. Now that is really black, and it hides the pickguard quite well, I think:
8.
If you really don't like the pickguard then a black bass with black guard will camouflage it well!
Aye, but then maybe beware of the black with white pickguard that I think is the regular one. I think it does outline the ugliness of the pickguard shape quite well. This is my own SR5, and it's from 1995. I don't know if totally black pickguards can be had now. However, if I'm not mistaken, there's an alternative in the Classic: IMS the Classic only comes in the 2EQ version. Me, I like the Bongo's 4EQ, and it may be the only thing that keeps the SR5 from becoming my fave bass. That and that the Bongo is a bog seat of course. Nothing can compete with that! Edit: I now see you don't not want no Classic. Sorry.
9. Nowt wrong with the SR5 pickguard! I find it hardly has any impact on the design of the bass:
10. Welcome, CC low end provider! Hohner? Yamaha? Squier? Warwick? StingRay? You must have impeccable taste! Enjoy the forum! bert
11.
I also have a "custom built" mandolin with the octave marker at 13!
Genius! Also, it's how experimental music was invented.
12. Hey David, Welcome! I'd cuddle with the llama, but it looks like one that might want to kiss me. Enjoy the banter! bert
13. Great work, man, and that was an inspiring read as well. Thanks for posting it, and congrats on the result!

20. Ultra cool, Chris. Congrats! Haven't got the footage to work yet, but will try again. (May also be they do not offer it abroad but without telling so.) Now I always knew you had a brain, but never imagined you got there by just telling your brain that you had a brain.
21.
Here's a pic of the one stolen from a gig I did last year:
Probably easily hid it under His robe, unsuspecting standers-by not realizing His wood was actually tonewood.
22. Luddite!
23. [s]Hey Bishop![/s] Good evening, Your Grace, Welcome! Twas about time this sinful place got some clericalization. Enjoy! bert
24. Thanks, Pete! I do like The Shipbuilders indeed. Nicely written! It's not that specific style I'm trying to find out about right now, but in its most subdued bars it does get fairly close.
25. Hey Greg, Welcome! Practise just two more days, and you'll be a lot better than me (roughly 3/4 years worth of better). Enjoy the forum! bert
