2. Welcome, Fingers! What they say. Also, we're here to answer questions about putting up pics if you struggle finding it out. Basically, it's about having an account at a picture site like Photobucket, upload your picture to it, copy the link that Photobucket automatically generates for it, and paste that link into your post, at the spot where you want the pic to appear. Enjoy! bert
3. Welcome, Chris! Ample opportunity for all of those things here. Enjoy! Bert
4.
Didn't really get it on the first couple of listens. Much prefer In A Silent Way, which blew my mind when I first heard it.
For me it was like this: I needed "Bitches Brew", which blew me away on first listen, to get into "In a Silent Way". My last composition teacher OTOH, assumedly not an unmusical guy, needed "In a Silent Way", which blew him away on first listen, to get into "Bitches Brew". I conclude we're all different, and all unmusical.
5. Congrats, Dave! What's the "ii" bit about? New functionality? Different sound? Have great fun with it at any rate. (btw, just received the GBE. Will plug it in in a minute.)
6. Shut your ugly mouth! I have that with every goddemm BC member!
7.
Not helping
Hehehe. Then again, moving both goalposts so there's one in each corner on your side of the field is not what constitutes the normal activity of moving the goalposts.
8.
I figured Just in case if some band comes across my posting.
Of course, my friend. It's just that in my religion it's a mortal sin to take a walk around a chance to joke a little.
9. Welcome, Sebastian! I don't need a bassist, sorry. Enjoy the fora! best, bert
10. Welcome, Tron! Enjoy this wonderfully weird and quite alright forum. best, bert
11. Welcome, Matt! We won't hold that against you! (the Fendre thing ) Enjoy s'more! best, bert
12. Hm. I'd not be modest if I listed all of my influences on famous bass players, so I think i'll drop it. Not being a bass player yet, I can only mention a few who influenced my thinking as to bass parts: Monteverdi, JS Bach, Stravinsky, Chris Squire, Jaco Pastorius are the ones I remember right away.
13. Amphora Cut
14. Find Your Own Name. This One's Taken. ...seems like a nice enough band name to me, but ymmv 'n' allsorts. As indicated by others, it much depends on the music style and what you need to convey to a suspected audience with it. Tell us some more about your band, and it will get easier.
15. Welcome, Clive! I finally understand what me mom meant when she kept nagging about me having to stay away from jazz. best, bert
16. Welcome, Tiago! best, bert
17. I'm not going to begin bowing before you right away. I want some weeks without bowing before you first. Oh!
18. All this talk of Robert Palmer and Mel Collins (in the King Crimson 8 thread) got me thinking back First: Alan Bown: Then: Elkie Brooks and Vinegar Joe: http://youtu.be/3G51tmiwMlk
19. Bass 24/7, maybe?? They may be the only one though. Sorry. Couldn't resist.
20. Let's just look reality straight into the eyes, and have two tubs. Who is gonna contribute towards his hot tube when we know we can't trust the rules. I vote: TWO 40p contribution sent.
21.
Thanks for that Bert, it,s reassuring to know.
You won't be as reassured when you learn I made a mistake in the caclulation. I meant 300 basses!
22. Hey Stjohn, I'm all ears - not that you can teach me stuff. I mean, you can teach, but I can't learn. Anyway, enjoy! best, bert
23. Hey Steve, Welcome form a nice and helpful lefty traitor turned from selflefteousness to selfrighteousness. You'll be alright here. Place is abundant with nice and helpful loyal ones. best, bert
24. Bonjour Pasco, Welcome! We read you loud and clear. Enjoy! best, bert
25. You know, normally I'd welcome people. But this!!! Four basses? FOUR BASSES????? For starters, you'd need a Jazz if you play Jazz music or other music. Then, you can't do without a Bongo if you play African music or other music. Evidently, a Funkmaster is needed, both for funk and for other music. Additionally, you can't do without a Precision if you're into precise music or other music. Obviously, a RockBass ... The list goes on and on.... 16 different model names at the very least. Then you need all of those basses in 4-, 5-, 6- and 7-string versions. Then, you can't do without both fretted and fretless versions of all of them. Have you ever realised that short scale basses have different overtone spectra, and thus are essential so you don't always have the same timbre? So the least you're gonna need are 16 times 4 times 2 times 2 basses .... so let's say 150 basses so we also cover EUBs and those acoustic thingies.... For starters! (Me, I'll have 72 Bongos in a few years. Just watch me...) Oh, and welcome I guess... best, bert
