1. My Aria bass weighs next to nothing, and as a result I can't weigh it on my scales, as they need 4 kg as a minimum. Edit for spelling: Air bass!
2.
what concerns me is that this thread is not a joke...
Says who? I've not seen one single mention of someone being serious, and several mentions of this all being very tongue-in-cheek. But yes, I'm sure the phenomenon does exist, and I'm not [s]proud of it[/s] in favour of it. ( FWiW, I've never hidden any bass from my ex. )
3.
Hey, BassTractor. I just happened to see this on eBay. http://www.ebay.ie/i...=item4612d9460a and check out those import charges... 1745.78 dollars all told.
Thanks, mate! I wish I had the money. Ah well, new chances will come.
4.
I'm a lefty too, I read the the Guardian.
Ah. Slight misunderstanding. See, this thread is not about that kind of lefty. It's about whether you read it the normal way (in Arabic or Hebrew) or in one of those righty languages like English.
5. Guilty. Maybe I got too used to right-handed grand pianos and right-handed church organs (discriminating lot, those church organs!) back in my days, Idunno, but: A left-handed guitar is impossible for me. Everything about it is just as wrong as trying to throw with my right arm or to kick with my right foot. Do my kayaking with a left-handed paddle though, and in playing tennis to some degree have two forehands and two backhands. Four hands! This stuff never ceases to amaze me.
6.
She had no idea they were coming
Er ... hate to break the news to you, Milty, but: "THE FLOWERS ARRIVED!" She'd been humming for quite a while already: "Lalalalala ... Ma'tin bin baaad. Momma's gettin' flowahz..."
7. Hey Gingerbear, Welcome! This was the second mentioning of Vesters in just a few weeks (that I saw). Is yours one that we might like to see a leatle peacture of? If you're interested, here's that Vester thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/214487-vester-bass-guitar-or-is-it-an-ibanez-sr-5-string/ Enjoy the site! best, bert
8.
Oops sorry - have I overstepped protocol here? I'll kick back a bit until the newbie tag disappears.
Overstepped protocol? Nooo way. We don't even know what that is. Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. I was just trying to be lighthearted, and joke a little about your "modesty". I'll kick back a bit until the gay fanny tickler tag disappears.
9. Are we still on the same planet, Steve? Just in case: that picture is from them interwebs, my campervan was a lot cheaper than that one, I haven't been in Gaerwen since 2009, and took up the bass in 2011. But yes, I admit to having been in Gaerwen several times between 2004 and 2009, and will PM you if I manage to get back to Anglesey. I owe you a pint or two, three by now. At the Gaerwen Arms of course. As to the music, thanks very much for the kind offer! What's the medium or channel that gives bands like yours the most support? I'll PM you.
10. Great! Congrats with that one. Honeyburst is what made me eat my words about "never a burst". It's luvverly, imho.
11. Vanderkley Aurora Genz Benz ShuttleMax Genz Benz Streamliner Music Man Bongo 6-HHp Ibanez BTB-7 NT (though I dislike its looks)
12.
This is one of the reasons I always play naked.
Huh? Us others have to avoid playing naked so no hard parts damage our basses.
13.
I am, too. I would have kept the strings AND kicked a baby - just for the hell of it.
You dishonourable man!!! That's good food you're ruining! You also pinch the fruit and greengroceries in your local food store?
14.
Sorry if your thinking 'oh not another bloody bass player on this forum'!
What!!!???!!!??? You've got cameras in my castle now too? This stalking just has to stop!!! I deplorecommand you!
15.
do people actually hide stuff like this from their partners?
From what I can see, it seems more prevalent in some circles than in others. Guy I know knows a lot of blokes, and he has enormous amounts of stories about exactly that, or rather: what happened when they were found out. In his circles, it seems all the blokes do it, and they all know about everyone's doing it. That was new to me.
16. Hey Pat, Welcome! How about church jazz? Swedish sax bloke Arne Domnérus did some very sensitive and beautiful jazz versions of christian melodies on "Evergreens fra Kanaan" / "Evergreens from Kanaan". Enjoy! best, bert
17. Welcome, Leen! So you play bass, eh? Anyway, enjoy!
18.
Can someone put me out of my misery?
Of course, I'll oblige. Just PM me your name and address. Steel, copper or dum-dum?
19. At the Dutch bass guitar forum, Peter is very highly regarded for the quality of his work. That's all I know. Oh, and I know that the brand name is a stellar Daft Pun.
20. Well, in the words of Shania Twain, that don't impress me much. Feedback is essential, if it's reasonable and honest. Have you PMed them asking for feedback? Not that one should have to, but still.
21. Happy Birthday!
22. Through the years, my bands have found themselves tolerated in: - Living rooms, but only the last few days before something important. It was about using every minute. - School/college stages. Predominantly the last few weeks before a gig, and we'd be allowed to let the gear stand there. - School/college rehearsal rooms. Some places, this meant the whole rig could just stand there, or a rig was available. - Churches. Sometimes this meant the rig could stand there. - A private holiday cabin (I'm sure this is not English) close to a band member's house. Meaning all the gear could just stand there for most of the year. - A double garage changed into a music and rehearsal room. Perfec.
23. Hey Mike, Welcome! You're quite the modest bloke, yes? Not starting your own thread 'n' all? Anyway, enjoy BC as I presume you enjoy your (awesome) gear. best, bert
24.
British fora....
No, that one was for the oxymoron thread. Keep your head collected, man.
