But he's right - a G is not an Em! You should just have played that demm Em tone he wanted. But seriously: did he state what he thought was correct, and why? I mean: surely he didn't believe only roots are correct? best, bert

How to store the music from YouTube vids as mp3
BassTractor replied to BassTractor's topic in General Discussion
Yup, it's unbelievably quick if they have the required vid in stock. Other vids will take slightly less than normal play time IME, since YT doesn't transmit the whole vid at superspeed anymore, but pauses between transmitted chunks of it. b, b -
Following on from the damaged WAL thread......
BassTractor replied to Phil Adams's topic in General Discussion
This thread just made me realise that in my dark past, I would never even think of taking a cheap organ or synth to gigs instead of the expensive stuff, but today would immediately be wary of taking a relatively expensive bass, and would need to think logic thoughts on the matter before realising I can in fact take a bass to a gig. Fun fact is my electronic stuff cost tens of thousands (the organ alone cost like 14,000 quid in the 80s) - my bass gear maybe one tenth of that. It's a weird thing, the psyche. best, bert -
Hey O-man, Welcome to BC! You'll find this is a great place for all things bass. As to your question, the Introductions forum might not be very effective. Try the Amps & Cabs forum in the Gear section. They should know, and people are keen to answer. Enjoy! best, bert
Just to be clear, BassTractor, you wouldn't be advocating this form of capture for the purposes, say, of procuring copyrighted material for less than it's current retail value?
Haha. No, I wouldn't. No worries there. Paying for copyrighted material is the only decent thing to do. b, b -
Auditioning for new band members (at last)....

Great story, this. Txs for sharing, and congrats! best, bert -
Chain him to a radiator?
Child protection services will get you for this. Surface temperatures often exceed 40 degrees Celcius. Chain him hanging from the heat pump. Luvverly pic btw. Reminds me of those sad times I couldn't watch the kids ruin my expensive speakers, and sold them. (Please excuse any possible unintended, bad grammar induced lack of clarity.) Anyway, one kid case might come cheaper than two bass cases. Don't forget to take postage & handling costs into account. best, bert

You're in the clear, Jarek. The joke was just about the name Elrick, as in "El Rick", the Spanish and/or Mexican cheaper version of the Rickenbacker. It's true! You read it on BC first! best, bert

Too high SPL, is the band or the venue responsible?
BassTractor replied to Dandelion's topic in General Discussion
Excessive SPLWPDTLA is normally the fault of the team physician, or at least it was in the USPS team IMS. -
Isn't Daisy Rock a girls bass ?
Don't mention it to anyone, but I have very little testosterone. They're relatively well-built and well-sounding 30" scale basses, and I don't give a rat's ass about the girlie looks - or often even prefer the quirkiness of the whole concept. Mine's a flower. Luvverly.
You've got 2,200 posts! Hardly a noob. Or, have you signed in on the wrong account!
Hehehe. As you gathered, those 2,200 posts is why I'm still a noob. Should really be practising instead. b, b

How to store the music from YouTube vids as mp3
Audigy [...] is pretty much immune to any form of content management/protection system.
Bull's eye! Thanks everyone for the input. For me personally, Audigy is probably the way forward, though the yt-mp3.org service does work again, and I've downloaded a few songs that are impossible to find outside YT. b, b -
Hell, you might as well not have written it that far at all, coz I didn't. But welcome anyway! It wasn't awkward at all. Nice read, in my personal [s]fact[/s] opinion. Three basses after three years seems about right. At this speed, in just 54 years from now, you'll have 57 basses, and that should be a great inheritance for the kids. Go as you went, man. Always prioritise the kids! Enjoy the show! best, bert

How to store the music from YouTube vids as mp3
BassTractor replied to BassTractor's topic in General Discussion
Thanks guys! Will try the YT ad-ons. Does youtube-mp3.org work again? Last time I tried, it failed at every vid I tried. Edit: YES, IT DOES! Wow! b, b -
Agreed as to the part of there existing lots of great cheap basses, and I love that aspect. I love quirky and I love cheap. But a noob like me is more secure picking up a new Fodera or Music Man than picking up a new Squier or Epiphone. (mind ya, I have three Squiers that I'm very, very enthusiastic about) Also, while us noobs will not make a high quality bass sound consistently well, from that notion there's no logical line that commands that we're deaf, stupid and without ability to notice stuff in addition. Whilst I love my Daisy Rock, it is clearly the lesser bass compared to my Bongo, and that goes for sound, pre-setup playability, ergonomics, feel, the smoothness of the knobs ... everything. My cheapest bass was £69. Great! My most expensive one was slightly more ... er ... expensive though .... Great, that too. best, bert

How does one do that these days? Fewer and fewer of my programs work, and the same goes for the online services I used previously. If this is difficult, I'd also be interested to learn how one downloads the complete vid now YT have more advanced techniques to hinder this. Thanks! best, bert

Hm. I don't understand this. What speaker config are we talking about? 115, 210 or 410? b, b
The amp alone is not in my opinion loud enough for the average pub
I agree. It needs speakers. ;-D Sorry. Couldn't resist. :-) b, b
Got the Little Bastard today - brilliant, brilliant amp, genuinely blown away by it. Got band praccy tomorrow and dying to try it with the super 12T but I remember speaking with Alex about amp recommendations and I thought he said a full valve amp wouldn't work well with the cab - unless I'm completely mistaken as this was over a year ago. Any thoughts as to why this might be? Would there be any danger of harming either amp or cab? (Sorry to the OP for the derail)
I think this is so good and interesting question, that it would be wise to put it in a new thread. Many people will be done with the thread here. Personally I hope this is not the case, as I'm dying to try out my Little Bastard with the BFs once they arrive. Fantastic little amp indeed. best, bert

Can't answer you, but have you seen this thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/209541-my-amp-blew-up/ It appears they're on sale now. best, bert

Hey Ian, Welcome from another noob, but one twice your age. You have good time to denoob yourself. That bass bug of yours is sure to develop into taking the BC Marketplace intravenously soon. Stuff is dirt cheap these days. Anyway, we (not me) are here to assist you. Ask about anything you don't understand while delving. People (not me) will stand in line to answer. Enjoy the site! best, bert

You might also find some inspiration in the version by David Schommer with David Jensen. Be aware that this version is very different, but who knows, maybe the bass still provides you with something. Me, I think it's worth one's time even if it doesn't: Good luck with this! best, bert
So why did punk happen?
Not related to prog at all. Someone just felt the need to sing "She Hates You, Yeah, Yeah, Yea". best, bert

Yeah, amateur guitarist buddy of mine could not understand why I, a pro musician, would want to start playing bass. Explaining him will be expensive, as I can only keep him calm enough for long enough over a glass of Lagavulin. Sigh. best, bert
