1. Hey, cut out the iCastle bashing! I know he's not perfect, and has terrible market strategies, but at least he integrates perfectly with Mac. best, bert
 2. BOC here too, indeed. But of course that's only because some people will do anything to get BoC heard, even if it involves identity theft, knowing perfectly well the police lack the capacity right now. Like the music though. BoC seem to always deliver, whilst never being sensational. (whilst BOC were sensationally undelivering often, imho) Jack's avatar is one of very few animated avatars I haven't blocked - probably because Jack is so impressively elegant in that suit. best, bert
 3. Hey FasterLouder, Welcome! I almost get the impression you're into punk. Do you happen to like also Peter Hammill's "Nadir's Big Chance"? Iggy said he liked it, and so did quite many punkers if I'm correctly informed. Apparently, Hammill was the first ever to refer to "punk songs". Anyway, I hope you enjoy the fora. best, bert
 4. Welcome, MinusThreeDeciBoron (not that I understand the chemical formula ), There's enough info here to fill the rest of your life reading, and I'm sure you have stuff to share as well. Enjoy the site. best, bert
 5. OK, as for my classical career, I felt I had something new to tell about the works of certain composers, as in about the possible ways of performing that music so its quality was communicated in fresh ways - ways that one hoped would tell the audience something new about the composer or the work. In this I was the servant to the composer only. As for pop and rock, while I don't have that strong a drive, it's about sharing, preferably with peers, something that I enjoy and hope they too will enjoy. These days, I'd never be in a band that could not mingle with the audience afterwards and share a beer and a chat. I like things low key and simple. b, b
 6. . Don't do it anymore, but did it mainly for the learning that tended to accompany it. I like learning something new. Also, I have little interest in world domination, a hit, the money, or to let other people hear what I have done, and am just enjoying the process. Not that I'm against being heard, and I enjoy performing, but will most oftenly say no when folks ask me to play them something. Though I figure this would've been different were I to play an acoustic or classical guitar. best, bert
 7. Some questions that you need to answer for yourself, I think: Are you exclusively going to use it as a headphone amp? Is it overkill? Would you rather buy something cheaper? Can you live with connecting headphones and aux at the back? There are many alternatives around. While the MB-200 comes highly regarded for its sound, I'm not sure whether this extends to its headphones output. A search in this BC section could give you the answer. Me, I contemplated the MB-200, but ended up with the Orange Micro Terror, which is a lot cheaper, and has the connections on the front, but sadly does not spawn the 4-band EQ of the MB-200. best, bert
 8.
played from where he had been, but extra fast, to catch up
Reminds me of when I played the refrain instead of the verse, and got disturbed looks from the others. Now, as you'll appreciate, I didn't want to give the audience the impression I hadn't practised, so when the others went on to the refrain, I showed how well I could do the verse. We were eleven, and I guess I'm now the only one to even remember. Yup, it's experience, and one learns from it. Good luck! best, bert
 9.
Just utterly perfect.
. While it's not my style, I feel this is a stunning example of good metal bass design. Despite the headstock showing a little too much cleavage. b, b
 10.
The farce is strong in this one.
11.
Local band [...] starts doing the paperwork announcing that he will be scoring me for each song and recording it
. Never EVER be in a band like that. Are they the Miles Davis Quintet? I took a job once under similar circumstances. Never ever again. Kudos for trying. Congrats on escaping. best, bert
 12.
.. Nina and Frederik, [s]dutch[/s] Danish warblers ...
Danish-Dutch, I'd say. best, bert
 13. Can't tell you what to do, but can tell you what I did in a similar situation: I moved to Paris. Now this didn't last long (didn't get the applied-for study loan), but at least I did what I could. How about London? best, bert
 14.
Context is everything:
Yup, and I'd imagined something like this. Throwuppingly empty and poser-like. In such a way this faux-violin shape does fit the faux-Mozart-metal. Not that I don't condone music that some people love, mind. But if great stuff exists, then by definition not-so-great stuff exists. b, b
 15.
Jesus! Is this not THE WORST looking guitar you have ever seen? http://www.gak.co.uk...lack-onyx/77543
I'm not entirely sure. It's fugly indeed, but within its realm does seem to have some style. The one below lacks even that, and the child-like decoration makes it even worse, imho. 16.
A year and a half seems like quite a long time to make a bass guitar.
Then again, he recommended the guy, not the building course, so me gathers they don't do a lot of bass building together. best, bert
 17.
I finally signed up as i`ve been playing too much guitar recently and have become rather too fond of myself as a result.
. Best. Intro. Evaah. Welcome, Dave, to the surface of this thing. Breathe! And post please. This looks relatively brill. best, bert
 18. Hey T-bird, Welcome from another noob. This place is full of info, most oftenly presented in a friendly fashion. Ask and thou shalt be served. Enjoy! best, bert
 19.
I think he plugs his bass into the headphones socket
Yup! My other amps have the input on the left, with the exception of the Terror Bass, but that one doesn't have a headphones output, so I'm secure there. b, b
 20. Orange Micro Terror. Look and guess what I do again and again. best, bert
 21. Thanks for posting his pic then, so we know who to terminate. Your address again? Congrays with the bass! I've been ogling them for some time. Cheap as chips, and your decription makes them even more attractive. Red of course. best, bert
 22.
Now that is interesting i never knew pups were sited at node points, thanks for that.
I was actually thinking they'd gone away from it in part - these days putting them wherever the Hull they wanna put them. Back in the days, I was taught that a harmonics test would reveal a classical guitar, and I assumed the same went for basses. However, BC recently taught me that between bad and good harmonics is a good set-up. best, bert
 23.
I disagree.
If it's the Van Morrison song you guys are talking about, then I disagree with you. best, bert
 24. Bonjour Yvette, Welcome to BC! Just start reading every thread that seems interesting in the different sections, and ask questions along the way. Enormous amounts of info will come your way. Always mention a budget - this is the thing most forgotten when people ask for advice. At any rate: there is no real need to buy expensive gear. A £3,000 bass will often perform just as well. Enjoy! best, bert
