Hey Robin, Welcome back and welcome! Your etikit is fine, as is your basskit. No worries. Now join the banter and the occasional info exchange, and enjoy it. best, bert

Leen, you're OK. It's not that you lack intellectual capacity, but just that you lack old age. Us old ones can still remember when the radio DJ announced the first proto punk songs as The New Wave in British Music, and we were longneckedly looking out for Punk Proper to emerge from Proto Punk's future ashes. I guess one had to be there. b, b

Oooow. You are soooo seling that to me, and I'm officially a burst hater. Are you aware of the Date of Birth thread on the EBMM forum? http://forums.ernieball.com/music-man-basses/1254-music-man-serial-number-database-520.html#post915684 If you ask nicely they'll not only provide the date, but also the configuration and where it was sent originally. Enjoy it! best, bert

Harley Benton 210 cab: amp button switches tweeter on/off?
BassTractor replied to BassTractor's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yeah, at this price point, I expect a simple and cheap lowpass filter, with a few dB/Octave. But no-one would ever state that the tweeter can be closed with the EQ of the amp, so... But yeah, it's probably just bizarrely worded. Google Translate even maybe. b, b -
Here's what I found on Thomann: You'll see the text says that the tweeter may be "closed" (as in switched on and off?) with the Color switch on fitting amps (as in some Ibanez Promethean, Beta Aivin, Harley Benton or RedSub (White Horse) amps) . I can't remember even having seen demands for a special cable or whatnot. Also, the amp manual says nothing about it other than that the Color control knob adjusts the overall tone colour from vintage to modern. I don't believe it, and think it's quite illogical, but am open to being corrected. best, bert

If "song" is allowed to mean "any type of composition", then: It totally depends. I night start with just a chord or an interval, and "build the road as I walk on it". Other times, I might develop and repeat something in my head long enough so I've made myself a picture of the whole thing that I then might have a chance of possibly being able to write down. Ideas are never a problem (as in that gazillions of them pop up every day), and it doesn't matter what style or where I start (Top Down approach, or Element Commands Structure approach), but finishing the demn thing is always very time-demanding if I write every note down, which is near always. best, bert

Starting a band from scratch. Long, sorry...
Weed out people who just want 'to be in a band' because 'being in a band' isn't what being in a band is all about.
BC Famous Quote. best, bert -
Hey, cut out the iCastle bashing! I know he's not perfect, and has terrible market strategies, but at least he integrates perfectly with Mac. best, bert

BOC here too, indeed. But of course that's only because some people will do anything to get BoC heard, even if it involves identity theft, knowing perfectly well the police lack the capacity right now. Like the music though. BoC seem to always deliver, whilst never being sensational. (whilst BOC were sensationally undelivering often, imho) Jack's avatar is one of very few animated avatars I haven't blocked - probably because Jack is so impressively elegant in that suit. best, bert

Hey FasterLouder, Welcome! I almost get the impression you're into punk. Do you happen to like also Peter Hammill's "Nadir's Big Chance"? Iggy said he liked it, and so did quite many punkers if I'm correctly informed. Apparently, Hammill was the first ever to refer to "punk songs". Anyway, I hope you enjoy the fora. best, bert

Welcome, MinusThreeDeciBoron (not that I understand the chemical formula ), There's enough info here to fill the rest of your life reading, and I'm sure you have stuff to share as well. Enjoy the site. best, bert

OK, as for my classical career, I felt I had something new to tell about the works of certain composers, as in about the possible ways of performing that music so its quality was communicated in fresh ways - ways that one hoped would tell the audience something new about the composer or the work. In this I was the servant to the composer only. As for pop and rock, while I don't have that strong a drive, it's about sharing, preferably with peers, something that I enjoy and hope they too will enjoy. These days, I'd never be in a band that could not mingle with the audience afterwards and share a beer and a chat. I like things low key and simple. b, b

. Don't do it anymore, but did it mainly for the learning that tended to accompany it. I like learning something new. Also, I have little interest in world domination, a hit, the money, or to let other people hear what I have done, and am just enjoying the process. Not that I'm against being heard, and I enjoy performing, but will most oftenly say no when folks ask me to play them something. Though I figure this would've been different were I to play an acoustic or classical guitar. best, bert

Gallien-Krueger MB200 Bass Amp Head should I or shouldn't I
BassTractor replied to 64k's topic in Amps and Cabs
Some questions that you need to answer for yourself, I think: Are you exclusively going to use it as a headphone amp? Is it overkill? Would you rather buy something cheaper? Can you live with connecting headphones and aux at the back? There are many alternatives around. While the MB-200 comes highly regarded for its sound, I'm not sure whether this extends to its headphones output. A search in this BC section could give you the answer. Me, I contemplated the MB-200, but ended up with the Orange Micro Terror, which is a lot cheaper, and has the connections on the front, but sadly does not spawn the 4-band EQ of the MB-200. best, bert -
played from where he had been, but extra fast, to catch up
Reminds me of when I played the refrain instead of the verse, and got disturbed looks from the others. Now, as you'll appreciate, I didn't want to give the audience the impression I hadn't practised, so when the others went on to the refrain, I showed how well I could do the verse. We were eleven, and I guess I'm now the only one to even remember. Yup, it's experience, and one learns from it. Good luck! best, bert

The Most Beautiful Bass ever, EVER!
Just utterly perfect.
. While it's not my style, I feel this is a stunning example of good metal bass design. Despite the headstock showing a little too much cleavage. b, b
