1. Hey Eddie, Welcome to the forum! Now, no malice intended, but there's a gazillion of Eddies on BC, so I think it's best we call you something else. How about Dave? Be wise: Don't mind me, and enjoy the site. best, bert
2.
looks dam good, i guess easier to handle too (i too was thinking the paddle look to it, but a normal bass would push more water)
... but then, you don't want to push more water, coz us humans are not strong enough. You want the most effective paddle for your own force. The Streamline must be one of the best paddles ever made, and I own a Hohner B2B. Here's another one of my paddles. Quite similar, eh? best, bert
3. Hey Angel, Welcome! Great to read that you wish to help where you can. Sounds sensible too. Enjoy the site! best, bert
4. Hey Avi, Welcome! I hope you'll feel at ease here sooner than later. As to buying a bass, I'm sure you'll be alright eventually, but yes, people probably think like you indicated. Whilst logic commands that once you have bank transferred the money, you're in the seller's power, and so sellers have little to fear from new buyers, the truth is that many still are afraid to hand out their bank account number for fear of something undefined in the realm of hacking and identity theft. There are also many many people who will not send basses, or will not send abroad. The positive side here is that those who do not wanna take your money also seem to be those who will not steal your money! BTW, I liked the Eden thing. As a good Israelite, I'm sure you also use a Viper bass and an Apple device when playing for Eve. Anyway, enjoy the site and its banter, and feel free to contribute with your wisdom. best, bert
5.
OOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! HAVE YOU SEEN THE PRICE ON THESE????
Wot? $5,400? That's not much! It's RED fer cryin' out loud! I wonder what they'll charge in the UK or Norway. Must be gazillions. Shame, as I fell in love with all three of the colours. best, bert
6. Hey Michael, Welcome! I'm sure it's great to have you here, and if you answer one WordPress question from every active BC account per week, I'd say you'd answer less than 400 questions each day. Quite doable, eh? Anyway, enjoy the banter, and share some of your wisdom when/if you feel inclined. best, bert
7.
You're going to have trouble moving down from 2 212 cabs. Can you just keep one of them? You can go to a 410 but that's still big. 2 115 cabs are still on the large-ish side. I'd look at 2 good quality 112 cabs, and keep the amp. Personally, I wouldn't go for a combo.
So very much this^^
I don't want to hijack the OP's thread
Pssst! Make your own thread, and you won't. best, bert
8. Hey Poly, Oh, yeah. It was seriously good indeed. Only thing that gave it away were the very last words "her borte langt tiden", which, though clear, would have been written as "her lenge".
Ruffen - sjøormen som ikke kunne svømme
Ah! Good. It was sad Ruffen couldn't swim, but, happily, he learnt just in time to be able to help people when things went wrong on the America Line steamer. In addition, whilst everyone was running around in panic and pyjamas, the horn orchestra played old marches, as this tends to help a lot when one is in peril on sea. b, b
9. Ha! You'd be surprised how good that really was. Perfectly understandable, but easy to see that Google Translate is not a native here. Actually I couldn't care less about tractors, but it's a long story, part of which is that "tractor" etymologically / instrument historically has connections to "player". best, bert
10. Hey Poly, Welcome! If those English words meant that BC is better, then: "Yes!" Enjoy your stay, and may it be long. best, bert
11. Hi Joe, Welcome! I can vouch for the learning here. In my 1.5 years of bassing, I could have learnt a lot, had I just used BC for something else than writing inane posts. Read up, ask questions, be corrected on your mistakes, and enjoy the banter. best, bert .
12. Hi Rachel, Welcome! Funny you shold say that glam is coming back, as I almost never realised it has been away. Here in Norway we've had some glam for at least a decade - then again, maybe we're still in the first wave. Here, they also love Smokey. Anyway, May You Reach Your Goals. Enjoy the site! best, bert
13. Hey Chris, Welcome! Yup, Corvettes are terribly cheap these days. Can't advise about the price, but if you do a search for them in the Marketplace, you'll get a good impression. Enjoy the site! best, bert .
14. Oh, yeah. Awesome playing! b, b
15. ... and yet another one. :-( http://edition.cnn.com/2013/03/30/showbiz/obit-phil-ramone/index.html
16. Of course you know it depends. That out of the way, some people start in a band immediately, and others never get there. Don't know how old you are, but it does matter. From my experience in teaching, I can't tell you what it takes to be in a band, but I can tell you: - The oldest organ pupil of mine I taught up to the level of music college was in her thirties, and it took her five years. - Friend of mine was roughly 25 when I forced him to learn one song on bass during one evening, and half a year to a year later he was playing bass in a local band. Good luck, and ... ENJOY!! best, bert

Hello

Hey Timmo, You came to the right place. There is soooo much to learn on this site, and apart from what is already written, you can ask sooooo many questions. Not only that, but some people here are nice even, and a few have humour whilst one or two are gravely serious. Take your pick! (or your fingers of course - I suddenly realised that.) Enjoy the info, the exchange of opinions, the calling names and the banter. best, bert
18.
"Keep out of of treble".
Kool stuff. Koodos! (... or is that KOOT?) b, b
19. Hey chas, Welcome to the right place for the wrong people. We're looking forward to see your Jack Bruce impersonation, I'm sure. Can you also do it whilst playing bass? Enjoy the banter! best, bert
20. Hi Dave, Congrats on escaping from Scandinavia, and welcome to BC! best, bert
21. Hi JoshO, to the surface of BC. Breathe, man! Breathe! Enjoy the posting! best, bert
22. Yet another one gone: http://www.noise11.com/news/r-i-p-hugh-mccracken-renowned-session-guitarist-20130330
23.
I think I will keep the Thumb and save up for something else, and then see how I feel when I had both basses.
Pfffffffff! Are you aware you let us suffer from fear and ... er ... Angst and ... er ... fear here for 12 hours and four minutes? Don't do that anymore. We have just one heart each. Good choice! (never sell a Thumb!) best, bert
24. Yeah, ain't that the truth. Thijs van Leer certainly knew his Bach, and used both Bach, church music, children's songs and street music. BTW, for the possible one interested, here's the original album cover with the original title: best, bert
